Abstract

Succession is the natural ecological process to restore the condition after the disturbance happen. The succession caused by pyroclastic flow of the volcano eruption is the example of natural succession. The NDVI Index is the one tools to observe the sucession after burning using the satellite imagery. Aims of this research were to compare the vegetation density in location that was affected by pyroclastic flow and location that was not affected by pyroclastic flow in southern mountainside of Merapi volcano using NDVI index in ASTER imagery that was recorded on July 7, 2009, November 15, 2010, and June 13, 2012. The results showed that before the eruption in 2010, the vegetation density in both of location is almost same. Than the NDVI index in ASTER imagery that was recorded in November 15, 2010 showed the decline of vegetation density in both locations, especially in location that was affected by pyroclastic flow. The location that was affected by pyroclastic flow have the almost same NDVI index with location that was not affected by pyroclastic flow in two years after the eruption, which means there has been a succession.

Abstract

Oil palm production is very dependent on the climatic condition and physical characteristic of the environment where the oil palm is grown. Its yield potential is declining when the oil palm experienced stressful conditions. Hence, monitoring oil palm production is important to predict oil palm production level. A study in Sungai Dua Oil Palm Plantation locations in Riau Province, Indonesia was conducted, on using Web GIS for managing the database of the production from year 2013-2017. Data of planting year, area of block, and oil palm production recorded. The ultimate aim of this research is in these areas was to evaluate the oil palm productivity in each block. This information will be utilized by managers and the decision makers in the plantation to take necessary and immediate action for the improvement of plantation productivity. Also, It is important to understand the differences of crop yield among blocks to to ensure production consistency. Abstract

This study aims to create a transportation management database, create a participatory map of the harvest path from the TPH to Mill and create a transportation management model in palm oil plantations. The study was conducted at PT. Langkat Nusantara Kepong (LNK) Tanjung Beringin Estate, Hinai District, Langkat Regency, North Sumatra. This research was conducted in May - June 2019. This research was conducted by direct measurement in the field and navigation analysis. Direct measurements in the field are done by calculating the distance from TPH to Mill, calculating the average speed of trucks when carrying FFB to Mill, calculating truck time from TPH to Mill. To measure the distance done using GPS Garmin then data from GPS is entered and analyzed with the ArcGIS program. Navigation analysis is carried out using Network Analysis in ArcGIS, where the work of Network Analysis will find the most effective and efficient way. Roads in Tanjung Beringin Gardens are distinguished by their functions as HW (Highway), MR (Main Road), CR (Collection Road) and BR (Boundrest Road). Map of the FFB transportation path from TPH to Mill via the CR line which then passes the MR, and passes the HW that corresponds to the truck lane. The results of research conducted by direct measurement in the field of FFB to Mill are already effective and efficient compared to navigation analysis.
