Abstract

This qualitative case study aimed to develop the functional reading and writing skills of mild mentally retarded children through whole word approach and VAKT strategy. The subject in this study was selected through the procedures of subject determination in qualitative research proposed by Sarantakos (1993, in Poerwandari 2005), namely: 1) not directed to the large number of participants but in typical cases according to the specificity of the research problem, 2) not directed to representation in terms of numbers or random events, but to context matches. Based on the above explanation, the researcher then determined the general criteria of the subjects / participants of the study as follows: 1) Subjects were children aged between 6-8 years old who were in kindergarten (group B) or elementary school (first grade or second grade), 2) subjects were children with mild mental retardation who have difficulty in developing functional reading and writing skills. Methods of data collection in this study were conducted through observation, interviews, and informal assessments, as well as documentation of field notes during data mining. Data analysis was performed by comparing the initial condition of the subject before stimulation implemented with the final condition of the subject after the stimulation completed. The results of data analysis indicated that the whole-word approach and VAKT strategy can be applied to develop the early functional reading and writing skills in children with mild mental retardation

Abstract

Masa pendemi bagi orangtua menjadi situasi yang penuh tekanan, ditambah lagi adanya beban ganda yang dihadapi dalam mendampingi anak belajar dari rumah. Hal ini ini berpengaruh pada meningkatnya level stres orang tua yang berimbas pada tindak kekerasan pada anak selama pandemi. Artikel ini bertujuan untuk memberikan telaah yang didasarkan pada  kajian pustaka dalam menawarkan potensi kegiatan menulis ekspresif sebagai strategi pengelolaan stres bagi ibu selama menjalani berbagai tuntutan peran di rumah selama pandemi. Berdasarkan telaah dan analisis pustaka yang telah dilakukan dapat dikatakan kegiatan menulis ekspresif dapat menjadi salah satu strategi koping yang berfungsi untuk mengkomunikasikan dan mengekspresikan perasaan dan emosi yang dialami, sehingga orang tua dapat memahami permasalahan yang dihadapi secara lebih jernih dan tenang dalam menemukan cara-cara yang lebih positif dan adaptif dalam menghadapi segala kondisi yang penuh tekanan selama masa pandemi

Abstract

This is a qualitative study of a case study aimed at knowing the effectiveness of visual conversation system through picture cards to stimulate early childhood development with language and communication barriers. The subjects in this study were chosen through the procedure of determining the subjects in qualitative research proposed by Sarantakos (1993, in Poerwandari 2005), namely: 1) not directed to the large number of participants but in typical cases according to the specificity of the research problem, 2) not directed to representation in terms of numbers or random events, but to context matches. Based on the above explanation, the researcher then determines the general criteria of the subjects / participants of the study as follows: 1) The subjects are early childhood of group A or B kindergarten and 2) the subjects have language and cammunication barriers. Data collection methods are through observation, interviews, and informal assessments, as well as field notes documentation. Data analysis is performed by comparing the initial condition of subjects before being stimulated with the initial condition of the subjects after stimulation is performed. The results of data analysis show that the application of visual conversation system with themed picture cards can be used to help stimulate early childhood development with language and communication barriers.

Abstract

Penelitian ini berjudul Efektivitas pemberian reward melalui metode token economy untuk meningkatkan kedisiplinan anak usia dini 4-6 tahun. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui efektivitas pemberian reward melalui metode token economy untuk meningkatkan disiplin anak usia dini. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif, dengan menggunakan desain eksperimen one group pre-test post-test. Subyek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas A dan B di RA Al-Ma’ruf Mojoranu Dukuhagung Tikung Lamongan yang berjumlah 14 orang. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Paired sample test. Penelitian ini dilakukan selama 23 hari yaitu 7 hari pre-test, 13 hari treatment token economy, dan 7 hari post-test. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan antara pre-test dan post-test. skor post-test lebih tinggi dari skor pre-test. Hal ini juga membuktikan bahwa pengujian hipotesis melalui uji Paired sample dengan SPSS 26 menunjukkan Sig 0,00 yaitu kurang dari 0,05. Artinya H0 ditolak dan Ha diterima. Sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa pemberian reward melalui metode token economy efektif untuk meningkatkan kedisiplinan anak usia dini 4-6 tahun di RA Al-Ma'ruf Mojoranu Dukuhagung Tikung Lamongan
