Abstract

Waste is very serious problem, especially in the Tarakan area. One of the ways to manage waste is through empowering the young generation in 4R-based waste managing (reduce, reuse, recycle and replace). This study uses a quantitative descriptive approach through the type of pre-experiment. This study measures the knowledge, skills and attitudes of students in Department of Elementary Teacher School in University of Borneo Tarakan. The pre-experiment research design carried out was one pretest-posttest group on observing student knowledge, and one shot case study on observing skills and attitudes. aspects of knowledge obtained an average before the activity of 50,625 and the average after activity amounted to 79,13889. On the skill aspect, the results obtained on a 1-5 Likert scale on a reduce of 4.5; reuse of 4.25; recycle 4.12; and replace 3.98. The attitude aspect was obtained at 80% in affective, and 76.5% in conative.

Abstract

Pembelajaran dengan contextual teaching and learning telah menolong para siswa untuk melihat makna di dalam materi pelajaran yang mereka pelajari dengan cara menghubungkan subyek-subyek pengetahuan yang mereka pelajari dengan konteks dalam kehidupan keseharian mereka, yaitu dengan konteks keadaan pribadi, sosial dan budaya mereka. Penerapan pembelajaran CTL dilakukan dalam tahapan-tahapan lesson study yaitu plan, do dan See. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terjadi peningkatan nilai rata-rata siswa yang pada siklus I adalah 53,33 meningkat menjadi 60,10 pada siklus II. Dengan demikian dapat disimpulkan bahwa penerapan contextual teaching and learning? berbasis lesson study memberikan dampak positif terhadap pembelajaran dan hasil belajar siswa jadi meningkat

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah siswa di SMP Negeri 2 Tana Tidung mengalami miskonsepsipada konsep fotosintesis. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif dengan pendekatan kuantitatif denganmenggunakan metode survey. Sampel yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah sampel jenuh yaitu mengambilsemua populasi sebagai sampel penelitian. Instrumen yang digunakan pada penelitian ini berupa soal pilihanganda dengan alasan terbuka yang disertai dengan alasan dan kolom CRI atau tingkat keyakinan siswa. Hasilpenelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat 34.18% siswa yang paham konsep, 9.69% siswa yang paham konseptapi tidak yakin, 36.37% siswa mengalami miskonsepsi, dan 19.59 siswa yang tidak mengetahui konsep.Berdasarkan data yang diperoleh, siswa yang mengalami miskonsepsi adalah pada topik proses fotosintesis,dimana jumlah pada kategori ini melebihi kategori yang lain. Miskonsepsi yang dialami siswa lebih banyakterjadi pada informasi tentang gas yang dilepaskan oleh tumbuhan pada proses fotosintesis.

Abstract

Abstrak: Pantai Amal Baru merupakan salah satu pantai di Kota Tarakan. Pantai ini berada di Kecamatan Tarakan Timur, Provinsi Kalimantan Utara.Pantai Amal Baru umumnya akan ramai pada beberapa even atau waktu hari libur. Banyaknya kunjungan berdampak pada pencemaran wilayah tersebut. Pencemaran pantai juga terjadi karena aktifitas nelayan yang ada di daerah pantai baik sampah hasil tangkapan ikan, maupun sampah budidaya rumput laut. Berdasarkan hal tersebut maka dilakukan pemberdayaan mahasiswa dalam pembersihan sampah di Pantai Amal Baru. Metode pelaksanaan bersih pantai Amal Baru yang dilakukan adalah berupa shore cleanup. Berdasarkan kegiatan pembersihan pantai, didapatkan hasil sampah plastik sebanyak 50%, kaleng 25%, sisa tumbuhan 20% dan lain-lain (gelas/botol gelas, besi, dan lain-lain) sebanyak 5%Abstrak: Amal Baru Beach is one of the beaches in Tarakan City. This beach is located in Tarakan Timur District, North Kalimantan Province. Amal Baru Beach will generally be crowded on some events or holiday. Because of tha things make a pollution in this beach. Coastal pollution also occurs due to the activities of fishermen in the coastal areas both fish catches, and seaweed farming waste. Based on the above, student empowerment is important to waste cleaning in Amal Baru Beach. The method of beach cleaning is based shore cleanup. Based on coastal cleaning activities, waste type in this beach, is:  50% plastic waste, 25% cans, 20%  plant remain and 5% others (glass / bottle of glass, iron, etc.).

Abstract

Abstrak: Perkembangan zaman dan teknologi menuntut manusia untuk selalu berkembang, begitu juga dengan dunia pendidikan. Sebagai akibat dari perkembangan tersebut maka kebijakan – kebijakan pendidikan pun terus mengalami perubahan. Salah satunya adalah dengan diterapkannya kurikulum baru yaitu kurikulum 2013. Kurikulum ini memberikan wacana untuk memperkenalkan siswa – siswi sekolah dasar dalam berfikir secara ilmiah sejak dini yaitu melalui suatu metode yang disebut dengan pendekatan saintifik. Namun, belum banyak guru sekolah dasar yang mengetahui tentang berfikir secara ilmiah atau saintifik. Oleh karena itu pelatihan tentang penerapan strategi pembelajaran dengan pendekatan saintifik dilaksanakan supaya para guru sekolah dasar memiliki wawasan tentang pendekatan saintifik sehingga mereka menjadi guru – guru yang profesional.Abstract: The development of era, science, and techology requires the society to develop as well, and so do the education. As the result of those developments, there are many new policies especially in educations that have been changed and renewed. One of the new policies is the implementation of a new curriculum called as curriculum 2013. This new curriculum provides a new discourse in introducing students especially elementary school students with scientific thinking in their early age through a method called as a scientific approach. However, there are many elementary school teachers who experience lack of information about scientific thinking and how to teach student scientifically. Therefore a training on the implementation of teaching strategy with scientific approach is important for teachers in order to give information and improve teachers’ profesionalism.

Abstract

VNOS form B is an instrument that has been developed and revised to assess the view of nature of science of preservice science teachers through nature of science aspects.Indeed, students and teachers have to have the view of nature of science to avoid misconceptions of science concepts. Unfortunately, research on the view of Nature of Science is less conducted in Indonesia. This is a qualitative research that was conducted in Borneo University Tarakan. Respondents are preservice biology teachers in the sixth semester. The first step of this research is translating and adapting the VNOS form B into Bahasa Indonesia to make sure that the instrument is culturally fit to Indonesian and the transadapted instrument then given to the respondents. The result shows that the VNOS form B can be applied to assess the view of nature of science of preservice biology teachers. However, the result also shows that most of preservice biology teachers have few understanding on aspects of nature of scince.

Abstract

Abstract. Research on scientific literacy aimed to analysis XI IPA students’ scientific literacy on ecosystem topic. This research carried out at SMA Negeri 3 Tarakan, Kalimantan Utara, from August – September 2017. This research was used descriptive qualitative method. Sampling technique was used simple random sampling technique. There were 34 of students at XI IPA class that have learned ecosystem topic and they were the research sample. The instrument used to measure of students’ scientific literacy was an essay questions and it consisted of 15 questions related to scientific literacy. Data was analyzed through an assessment interpretation formula. Overall, the result showed that 53% respondents has the scientific literacy in “enough category”.Keywords: scientific literacy, ecosystem, students’ scientific literacy ability

Abstract

Ethnobotany is a study that is related to plants and their use. This study is based on the reality that human kinds cannot be separated from their nature. Interestingly, different tribes has different ways in using natural resources. In in Indonesia, study ethnobotany has enriched the variety of ethnobiology study. This is because Indonesia has various tribes and each tribe has their own ways in interacting with their nature, including the way they use plants for daily life. One of tribes that has been studied is Tidung. Tidung is a tribe that inhabits the north area of Kalimantan, Indonesia. This tribe is using plants for medicine, spice, and ceremony. This study has been done by interviewing people who are Tidung tribe. The result shows that there are 20 medicinal plant species, 16 spice plant species, and eight ceremonial plant species. Mostly, the Tidung tribe use plants for medicine which means that this tribe highly depends on the nature of mainataining their health.

Abstract

Secara tidak langsung, terdapat hubungan antara literasi sains dan rasa ingin tahu. Siswa yang menguasai kemampuan literasi sains umumnya memiliki rasa ingin tahu yang tinggi. Oleh karena itu penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara literasi sains dan rasa ingin tahu siswa, khususnya pada materi ekosistem. Penelitian dilaksanakan di SMA Negeri 3 Tarakan dengan sampel sebanyak 36 siswa yang berada pada kelas XI IPA. Sampel dalam penelitian ini dipilih dengan menggunakan metode simple random sampling. Data yang diperoleh kemudian dianalisis dengan uji korelasi product momen. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sebanyak 53% siswa memiliki kemampuan literasi sains. Sedangkan rasa ingin tahu siswa berada pada kategori tinggi dengan jumlah persentase siswa sebanyak 78%. Selanjutnya, pengujian terhadap hubungan kedua aspek tersebut menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan antara literasi sains dan rasa ingin tahu dengan nilai korelasi 0.424. Berdasarkan nilai tersebut dapat disimpulkan behwa terdapat hubungan antara literasi sain dan rasa ingin tahu siswa. Correlation Between Science Literacy and Student Curiosity on Ecosistem TopicAbstractThere are correlation between science literacy and students’ curiosity indirectly. Students who have view in science literacy usually have high curiosity. Therefore, this research has been done to find out the correlation between science literacy and students/ curiosity, especially in ecosystem topic. The study was done at SMA Negeri 3 Tarakan and the sample are 36 eleventh grade students of IPA. Sample of this research was selected using simple random sampling. The data that has been collected was then analyzed using product moment correlation. The result showed that there are 53% of students have view in science literacy. Meanwhile, there are 78% of students have high curiosity. After that, the test on correlation between those two aspects showed that there are correlation between science literacy and curiosity with correllation coeficient 0.424. It can be concluded that there are correlation between science literacy and students’ curiosity.
