Abstract

This study aims to determine the problems faced by second-grade students in using the simple present tense at (Madrasah Aliyah Negeri) MAN Dompu. The data collection used in this research is interviews and tests, in order to find and classify the problems faced by second-grade students who have difficulty using the simple present tense. The research method used in this research is descriptive qualitative and quantitative methods. The population used in this study consisted of 5 classes and the sample was taken randomly, eight students in each class were used as samples. The number of samples is 40 students. The results of data analysis obtained through object tests and essay tests show that students' scores are very poor. This is evidenced by the average value of students is 3.9. Based on the test results, it shows that students have low ability in using the simple present tense, the students are quite interested in English subjects; English is very difficult for them; English teachers never give advice and motivation to students; the teacher never informs the students about the importance of learning English, especially the simple present tense; students have low motivation in learning English; English teachers never pay attention to students who have difficulty learning English; lack of stimulation for students in learning English; and students have low abilities. The researcher hopes that this research can contribute to teachers and students in the teaching and learning process of English, especially in the use of the simple present tense.

Abstract

This study was conducted to investigate and find out the student errors in using signposts in writing essays. Therefore, this study focused on finding the level of students’ ability in using signposts and the types of students’ errors in using signposts. 9 students of the fourth semester of English Education Program STKIP Dompu are taken as samples of the study. To obtain the data needed in this research the researcher tries to investigate the object by applying the descriptive quantitative method. The result of the test shows: (1) the mean score of the students in using signposts in writing paragraphs was 11, 22. It means that the students of English Education Program STKIP Dompu in applying signposts in essay writing were “very poor level”. (2) The types of students’ errors in using signposts in writing paragraphs are classified into four types: omissions errors, additions errors, misformations errors, and misordering errors.

Abstract

Menerapkan program berbasis multimedia dalam mengajar kelas berbicara bahasa Inggris dapat memberi siswa sumber daya yang berharga untuk melengkapi studi dan meningkatkan keterampilan kefasihan berbicara. Dewasa ini, perkembangan pengetahuan pembelajar dalam bahasa kedua dan pengetahuan ilmiah tidak lepas dari berbagai fasilitas dan metode pengajaran yang digunakan dalam mendukung kegiatan berbicara. Pengenalan teknologi sejak dini telah mendorong banyak orang secara tidak sadar belajar tentang apa saja terutama bahasa Inggris sebagai salah satu fracases bahasa lain. Untuk mengadaptasi banyak metode dan teknik yang ditawarkan oleh peneliti, teknologi aplikasi zoom hadir untuk mengakomodasi metode untuk mencapai metode fashion baru yang terintegrasi. Akibatnya, ketika siswa diberi beberapa kuesioner untuk menjawab seberapa sering mereka menggunakan teknologi aplikasi zoom yang mempengaruhi kemampuan berbicara mereka. Tanggapan siswa berdasarkan analisis SPSS menunjukkan bahwa signifikansi penggunaan teknologi zoom berdampak pada kemampuan berbicara siswa.

Abstract

Kesalahan seringkali dapat dimengerti dan rentan bagi pembelajar bahasa asing. Sangat mungkin untuk seluruh kemampuan bahasa Inggris dan terletak pada hal pengucapan, kosa kata, atau struktur gramatikal. Penelitian ini adalah untuk mengidentifikasi jenis kesalahan siswa dalam kalimat pasif. Deskriptif kualitatif analisis isi digunakan. Sampel penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa semester 1 fakultas syariah sebanyak 40 orang. Tes yang diberikan terdiri dari tes penyelesaian dan pembentukan kalimat untuk kalimat pasif. Teknik analisis deskriptif Creswell & Brown diadaptasi untuk menganalisis dengan mengidentifikasi, mengklasifikasikan, mentabulasi, dan menganalisis kesalahan. Hasilnya menggambarkan kompetensi gramatikal bahasa Inggris dari kalimat pasif masih rendah karena siswa kurang memahami bentuk kalimat pasif. Ini menggambarkan sebagian besar siswa membuat kesalahan pada penjumlahan sederhana yang siswa belum mengerti dengan baik kapan harus "am, is, are, was, were dan be" digunakan. Kemudian penghilangan "to be" yang mempengaruhi kesalahan siswa tanpa menempatkan to be "is, are" pada simple present, "was, were" pada simple past, dan kata bantu "be" pada simple future tense. Selain itu, kata bantu "being" pada simple present continuous tense juga dihilangkan.Selain itu, kesalahan muncul pada misformation karena siswa masih bingung membuat kalimat secara terstruktur.Kesalahan juga ditemukan selain pada regularisasi yang kira-kira siswa kurang hafal kata kerja regular dan irregular. Kesalahan ditandai dengan kegagalan dalam menyusun beberapa passive voice dengan benar dan bermakna karena adanya interferensi dari bahasa ibu.Terakhir, kesalahan siswa juga ditambah dengan double marking.Melalui hasil penelitian, kesalahan siswa dalam mengkonstruksi passive voice adalah masih banyak yang harus dilakukan dan muncul hampir semua jenis bentuk analisis kesalahan.

Abstract

The research on "Text Cohesion Analysis of Prabowo's Speeches in the Election of Presidential Candidates and Vice Presidential Candidates in 2024" examines the forms of lexical cohesion and grammatical cohesion in the context of the 2024 Prabowo Subianto presidential candidate debate text. The descriptive qualitative methodology was used to analyse the data. The data source for this research is the text recording of the 2024 presidential candidate debate sourced from National TV broadcasts and online news outlets on Narasi.tv. Data was collected for this research through the use of the observational method, accompanied by note-taking techniques. The discourse theory-based agih method was utilized for the data analysis. The findings of this research revealed the existence of lexical cohesion and grammatical cohesion in the texts under examination. The grammatical cohesion observed comprises personal referential elements, including singular and plural first person pronouns, demonstrative references in the past tense, substitutions and conjunctions. In contrast, lexical cohesion is observed in only a few instances, such as repetition and synonymy. This article aims to provide a deeper understanding of discourse, particularly with regard to lexical cohesion and grammatical cohesion.
