Abstract

Learning English is one of the important fundamental aspects that students must master from the lexicon/vocabulary learning process. Currently, lecturers only focus on giving assignments on test questions in general English books. This results in students not being confident in speaking English because they do not have a large collection of vocabulary. This study aims to produce an Ecolinguistic-based English for Computer learning tool. This research method is research development using the ADDIE model which consists of several steps, namely analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The subjects in this study consisted of 3 expert validation and 30 students in the information technology study program STKIP Yapis Dompu. The research instruments used in this research are Learning Device Validation Sheet, Learning Implementation Plan, Worksheet, Response Questionnaire, and Learning Outcome Test. The data analysis techniques in this study were expert validation analysis, test data analysis, and test analysis of learning outcomes. The result of this study shows learning tools of the material are presented well, the language used is easy to understand, and the questions given can be done by students. Textbooks are also effective in increasing the achievement of student learning outcomes because they are actively involved in finding material, finding relationships between materials, and being able to apply their knowledge so that students will be able to construct knowledge gained from their experiences. The resulting product is in the form of English course textbooks for students in the Information Technology Education Study Program.

Abstract

Nowadays the TOEFL test is very important. The TOEFL test is not only to measure English proficiency, but also for the sake of scholarship requirements, and as a requirement to graduate from college. This study explores the difficulties of EFL students in learning the TOEFL ITP of Structure and Written Expression (SWE) and how EFL students overcome difficulties in learning the TOEFL ITP of SWE. This study uses a narrative inquiry design. The data used in this study is qualitative data obtained from information provided by students through questionnaires and interviews. The results of the study show that there are several difficulties for students in learning TOEFL ITP, namely sentences with multiple clauses, sentences with inverted subjects and verbs, problems with prepositions, problems with the form of the verb, sentences with one clause, problems with subject/verb agreement. The way students overcome difficulties in the TOEFL ITP of SWE is to re-learn what has been taught by the tutor, reopen the module, learn from several other references besides the reference given by the tutor, learn from youtube, re-learn with classmates who have mastered the material. , do the practice questions independently. The findings in this research are expected to give an empirical contribution to TOEFL teachers to pay attention to students' difficulties in learning TOEFL ITP, especially SWE.

Abstract

The research on "Text Cohesion Analysis of Prabowo's Speeches in the Election of Presidential Candidates and Vice Presidential Candidates in 2024" examines the forms of lexical cohesion and grammatical cohesion in the context of the 2024 Prabowo Subianto presidential candidate debate text. The descriptive qualitative methodology was used to analyse the data. The data source for this research is the text recording of the 2024 presidential candidate debate sourced from National TV broadcasts and online news outlets on Narasi.tv. Data was collected for this research through the use of the observational method, accompanied by note-taking techniques. The discourse theory-based agih method was utilized for the data analysis. The findings of this research revealed the existence of lexical cohesion and grammatical cohesion in the texts under examination. The grammatical cohesion observed comprises personal referential elements, including singular and plural first person pronouns, demonstrative references in the past tense, substitutions and conjunctions. In contrast, lexical cohesion is observed in only a few instances, such as repetition and synonymy. This article aims to provide a deeper understanding of discourse, particularly with regard to lexical cohesion and grammatical cohesion.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kesiapan guru sekolah dasar di Kecamatan Pajo dalam mengimplementasikan pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris berdasarkan Kurikulum Nasional. Penelitian ini fokus pada tiga aspek utama yang mempengaruhi kesiapan guru, yaitu pengetahuan tentang kurikulum, keterampilan mengajar yang dimiliki, dan tantangan yang dihadapi dalam proses implementasi. Dengan menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif dan metode kombinasi kuantitatif serta kualitatif, penelitian ini melibatkan survei dan wawancara dengan 10 guru di beberapa sekolah dasar di Kecamatan Pajo. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa meskipun sebagian besar guru memiliki pemahaman dasar tentang kurikulum Bahasa Inggris, banyak guru yang merasa belum sepenuhnya siap dalam mengimplementasikan kurikulum tersebut secara efektif. Kesiapan ini terhambat oleh terbatasnya akses terhadap pelatihan yang relevan, serta kurangnya bahan ajar yang sesuai dengan kurikulum. Selain itu, guru juga menghadapi tantangan dalam menyesuaikan pengajaran dengan keberagaman kemampuan siswa, serta kesulitan dalam pengelolaan waktu akibat beban kerja yang tinggi. Penelitian ini menyarankan agar pihak berwenang, terutama pemerintah dan lembaga pendidikan, memberikan dukungan yang lebih besar berupa pelatihan berkelanjutan yang lebih terfokus dan penyediaan fasilitas yang memadai. Dengan adanya peningkatan dukungan ini, diharapkan implementasi kurikulum Bahasa Inggris di sekolah dasar dapat berjalan lebih efektif dan sesuai dengan tujuan pendidikan nasional.

Abstract

Worksheet pendekatan saintifik merupakan lembar kerja yang dapat membantu siswa belajar dan dirancang secara menarik baik dari segi bentuk maupun isi yang berdampak pada pengembangan kemampuan berpikir siswa dalam memecahkan masalah, berbuat dan bersikap sehingga mampu meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan Worksheet pendekatan saintifik yang layak untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa sekolah dasar. Jenis penelitian ini merupakan penelitian pengembangan (developmental reseach) yang mengacu pada model 4-D (four-D). Teknik pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini adalah observasi dan wawancara dan tes. Adapun teknik analisis data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah teknik analisis deskriptif dengan menggunakan statistik deskriptif meliputi analisis validasi perangkat pembelajaran, analisis kepraktisan perangkat pembelajaran, analisis keefektifan perangkat pembelajaran. Hasil rekapitulasi kevalidan dari dua ahli adalah 92% dengan kategori “sangat valid”. Pada analisis kepraktisan perangkat pembelajaran terhadap responden melalui pengamatan aktivitas siswa diperoleh reliabilitas 96% dengan kategori “sangat praktis”. Analisis keefektifan perangkat pembelajran dilakukan terhadap 29 siswa. Analisis hasil belajar siswa memperoleh presentase 76% sehingga memenuhi ketuntasan klasikal yan ditetapkan sekolah yaitu 70% siswa mendapatkan skor lebih besar atau sama dengan KKM(60). Berdasarkan hasil penelitian ini Worksheet pendekatan saintifik layak digunakan untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa sekolah dasar tahun pembelajaran 2021/2022.

Abstract

This study investigates the shift in the use of “ta” as a politeness marker in Bima and Dompu languages from a sociopragmatic perspective. In these local languages, “ta” functions as an inflectional morpheme expressing politeness, respect, and social hierarchy in communication. However, recent observations show that younger speakers increasingly replace polite forms such as iyota, madata, and buneta with less formal expressions such as iyora, even when interacting with lecturers or older people. This phenomenon reflects changing communication patterns and weakening awareness of traditional linguistic norms.This study employed a qualitative method with a sociopragmatic approach. The data were collected through semi-structured interviews with lecturers at STKIP Yapis Dompu and analyzed using thematic analysis. The findings reveal that the declining use of “ta” is influenced by digital communication, informal interaction patterns, changing perceptions of hierarchy, and reduced exposure to local cultural values among younger generations. The study concludes that the weakening use of “ta” represents not only linguistic change but also a potential erosion of cultural values embedded in Bima and Dompu languages
