Abstract

Abstract. Autism is a pervasive disorder that includes problems of communication, social interaction, and emotion. Since 1980, a number of children with autism have increased from 2-4 per 10 000 children to 6 per 1000 births in the world. Recently, in Indonesia more than 155 toddlers diagnosed with autism. Children with autism need full supports from their parents. The support comes from positive perception. Parents’ perception toward autism will determine their behavior to their children. Therefore, research on parents' perceptions on autism needs to be conducted. This research was conducted toward 20 parents whose children diagnosed as autism. Samples were obtained from 5 schools in Banda Aceh: Buah Hati School, SLB Labuy, SDN 53 Lueng Bata, SDN 54 Tahija, and SDN 57 Beurabong. This study conducted by distributing questionnaires. The results showed that 12 people (60%) had a positive perception and the remaining 8 people (40%) had a neutral perception. There were no parents who have negative perception found in this study. It is assumed that the result might because of the area of research that is inclusive schools, information disclosure, and the tendency of the child's behavior.

Abstract

In early 2019, Indonesia launched its Covid-19 vaccination program. However, this was met with controversy and widespread hoax news, resulting in increased vaccine hesitancy and lower vaccination rates. To combat this, the government implemented a penalty system for those in the target vaccination group who refused the vaccine without medical justification. These penalties included travel bans, restrictions on public services, and delayed salary payments for government employees. As the pandemic and global situation evolved, the government adjusted the regulations multiple times. Despite the controversy surrounding the penalty system, it has proven effective in increasing vaccination rates dramatically. This article reviews the impact of the penalty system on the Covid-19 vaccination program in Indonesia between 2021 and 2022. This review highlights that the effectiveness of the penalty system in increasing vaccination rates, despite its controversy.

Abstract

The development of P. aeruginosa resistance to antibiotics is increasing globally due to the inappropriate use of antibiotics. This retrospective descriptive study aimed to determine the distribution of multidrug resistant P. aeruginosa (MDRPA) and its antimicrobial sensitivity profiles. Data were taken from the bacterial identification and antibiotic sensitivity testing of clinical specimens in Aceh Provincial Referral Hospital from July 2017 to June 2019, where the VITEK® 2 Compact automatic device was used for the identification. In total, there were 307 P. aeruginosa isolates analyzed in this study. The results of this study revealed that 54.39% of P. aeruginosa isolates were multidrug resistant.  The MDRPA were mostly found in sputum and pus cultures (41.91% and 23.95%, respectively). Based on the wardroom as the source, most samples came from the internal medicine unit, intensive care unit, and surgical unit with prevalence of 27.54%, 25.74%, and 20.35%, respectively. High proportion of infected patients were male (52.09%) and aged 56–65 years (23.95%). P. aeruginosa showed the highest sensitivity rate to amikacin (77.1%), followed by meropenem (74.4%), ceftazidime (70.1%), levofloxacin (65.1%), tobramycin (64.9%), piperacillin-tazobactam (64.3%), and gentamicin (61.4%). In conclusion, our data suggest that the MDRPA infection is prevalent in Aceh Province and Amikacin is recommended as the highest standard of therapy for MDRPA.
