Abstract

This activity aimed to strengthen the literacy movement in early childhood through the habit of reading aloud at school and home. Gerdasi was a series of literacy-strengthening programs implemented at Kindergarten/RA Al Hidayah in the form of reading aloud at school and socializing the selection of children's books for parents. Gerdasi was held in April-June 2023 and attended by all children and parents/guardians of Kindergarten/RA Al Hidayah. The stages of implementing the community service activities included: 1) laying the foundation; 2) research design; 3) data gathering and analysis; and 4) acting on findings. Based on observations during reading-aloud activities, the data showed that more than 90% of children liked reading-aloud activities and enjoyed every discussion process. However, children's interest in books is not facilitated well at home. These findings became the basis for carrying out follow-up efforts in the form of socializing the selection of children's books with parents/guardians as the target. This socialization explained important points about literacy facts, choosing good children's books, as well as alternatives for choosing e-books. It was hoped that parents' knowledge regarding sites that provide e-books for children's storybooks could be an inspiration for parents to provide children with affordable reading materials

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to conduct a study and review of children's literature before the children's literature is given to children or students at school. The surgical approach to children's literature uses a didactic bibliotherapy model or therapy using a book as a medium. Children's literature is considered able to improve the character in a child through the images that are built in the child's subconscious. The more positive images that are built, the more positive character in the child will be. Didactic bibliotherapy is an alternative that can deliver the positive values ​​contained in children's literature. Didactic bibliotherapy can work both preventively and curatively in the development of children's character. This study uses a library research type in conducting a study and review of children's literature. The book that was studied was a children's book entitled “Biji Semangka Ajaib”. This book is a book published by the Ministry of Education and Culture in collaboration with Room to Read. The study and surgery of children's literature before the application of didactic bibliotherapy is very important because it becomes the core of bibliotherapy itself. This children's literature review is used as the basis for applying didactic bibliotherapy both personally and in groups.

Abstract

The lack of integration between cultural literacy and scientific literacy in schools, especially in gamelan making, makes students not understand the relationship between the concepts of vibration and wave theory with cultural heritage such as gamelan. Educational tourism activities are activities that can be used to introduce culture as well as the principles of vibration, waves, frequency, and amplitude in physics learning based on local contexts. The implementation of the research used a qualitative ethnographic approach with an interpretive paradigm approach that allows researchers to be actively involved in observing, learning, and interacting directly with gamelan craftsmen. Data collection used participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and using field documentation. The object of the study was the Gamelan Making Center in Banjarsari Hamlet. The research subjects were gamelan craftsmen, tourism awareness groups who were members of the educational tourism, and participants of the Banjar Village educational tourism. The data analysis technique used ethnography by Spradley which went through 12 stages. The results of the study revealed that gamelan craftsmen utilize their hearing that has been accustomed to the sound of the gamelan to tune the notes, without realizing that this is related to the concept of physics. Gamelan craftsmen still make gamelan in a traditional way, and it is very interesting when educational tourism activities raise this issue.

Abstract

Scientific literacy is an essential competency in elementary science (IPAS) learning; however, students’ scientific literacy achievement in Indonesia remains relatively low. This condition is partly caused by learning practices that tend to be theoretical and lack the use of direct experience and contextual environmental resources. This study aims to develop and describe an Experiential Learning model based on Litera Ksetra by utilizing the Litera Ksetra environment in Banjar Village as a learning context. The study employed a research and development (R&D) approach using the ADDIE model, which consists of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation stages. The analysis stage was conducted to identify learning needs, student characteristics, and problems related to scientific literacy. The design stage focused on developing Experiential Learning syntax, learning materials, and scientific literacy indicators. The development stage involved constructing and validating the model based on Kolb’s Experiential Learning theory, which was modified according to the learning context. Meanwhile, the implementation and evaluation stages were conducted on a limited basis to examine the suitability of the developed model. The results of this study are in the form of a conceptual framework of the learning model, including modified Experiential Learning syntax, the roles of teachers and students, and its alignment with scientific literacy indicators, indicating that the model is systematic, easy to implement, and potentially practical in IPAS learning. The model emphasizes direct experience, reflection, and environmental interaction as the foundation for constructing contextual and meaningful scientific concepts. Therefore, this model is expected to provide both conceptual and practical contributions as a reference for teachers in designing relevant, context-based learning to enhance students’ scientific literacy.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the scientific literacy profile of fourth-grade students at SD N Banjar through the application of aquaponics learning media in Integrated Science and Social Learning (IPAS). The research used a descriptive quantitative method with a total sampling technique involving 24 fourth-grade students. The research instruments included scientific literacy tests, questionnaires, and interviews. Aquaponics media was implemented as an environment-based learning approach that provided students with direct learning experiences through observing the relationship between fish, plants, and the environment. The results showed that the application of aquaponics media was able to improve students’ scientific literacy in four indicators, namely scientific literacy with an average score of 87.95 in the high category, investigation of the nature of science with 84.04 in the high category, interaction of science, technology, and society with 81.87 in the good category, and science as a way of thinking with 76.66 in the good category. Questionnaire and interview results indicated that students became more active, enthusiastic, and easier to understand the material because learning was conducted directly and contextually. In addition to improving understanding of IPAS concepts, aquaponics- based learning also fostered students’ environmental awareness. Therefore, aquaponics learning media can be used as an innovative, contextual, and suitable alternative for elementary school IPAS learning. Keywords: Science literacy, aquaponics, IPAS learning, elementary school, learning media ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan profil literasi sains siswa kelas IV SD N Banjar melalui penerapan media pembelajaran aquaponik pada mata pelajaran IPAS. Penelitian menggunakan metode kuantitatif deskriptif dengan teknik total sampling yang melibatkan 24 siswa kelas IV. Instrumen penelitian meliputi tes literasi sains, angket, dan wawancara. Media aquaponik diterapkan sebagai pembelajaran berbasis lingkungan yang memberikan pengalaman belajar langsung kepada siswa melalui pengamatan hubungan antara ikan, tanaman, dan lingkungan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan media aquaponik mampu meningkatkan literasi sains siswa pada empat indikator, yaitu literasi sains dengan rata-rata 87,95 kategori tinggi, penyelidikan hakikat sains 84,04 kategori tinggi, interaksi sains, teknologi, dan masyarakat 81,87 kategori baik, serta sains 1Pendas : Jurnal Ilmiah Pendidikan Dasar, ISSN Cetak : 2477-2143 ISSN Online : 2548-6950 Volume XX Nomor XX, Bulan Tahun sebagai cara berpikir 76,66 kategori baik. Hasil angket dan wawancara menunjukkan bahwa siswa lebih aktif, antusias, dan mudah memahami materi karena pembelajaran dilakukan secara langsung dan kontekstual. Selain meningkatkan pemahaman konsep IPAS, pembelajaran berbasis aquaponik juga menumbuhkan sikap peduli lingkungan pada siswa. Dengan demikian, media pembelajaran aquaponik dapat dijadikan alternatif pembelajaran IPAS yang inovatif, kontekstual, dan sesuai dengan perkembangan siswa sekolah dasar.
