Abstract

Students leave their countries to pursue tertiary education abroad under different motives. To understand this case, this study aimed to identify the prospective students’ perceptions on overseas academic settings. A total of 100 Acehnese students applying for overseas scholarship were surveyed. The obtained data were then processed using SPSS 24.0 for descriptive quantitative elaboration. The findings indicated that both females and males shared relatively similar views on the quality of international tertiary education. Both positively consider overseas universities to have better learning quality, better learning environment and better research experience. It is suggested that prospective students equip themselves with good English language competence to increase their chance to study abroad.

Abstract

Sufism is a science that examines the process of beautifying morals in the form of birth and purification of the soul spiritually to achieve happiness in the world and the hereafter. In the context of broader modernism, Sufism is also associated with psychology and other general sciences. This phenomenon illustrates that Sufism can be interpreted comprehensively with various approaches which will then produce various kinds of innovations in the development of knowledge, including education. Sufism can be applied and applied through a character education approach that emphasizes value planting. The dynamics of modern life grow along with human needs that continue to grow. The need that continues to grow will then backfire for humans and their groups if they are not able to be packaged in a useful context. The problems of modern life can be packaged in Sufism scholarship that has been modernized in character education.

Abstract

The education in the Islamic studies is the discussion period about at-tarbiyah, al-ta'līm and al-ta'dīb. The term are popularly used in Islamic education is at-tarbiyah. The creation of Qur'ani education goals is a great effort for humans to prepare the provisions of the life of the world and the hereafter while completing physical and spiritual balance as a complete container for oneself. The personality that is the target of Islamic education is "a kaffah Muslim personality. The teacher has an important role in counteracting the formation of character that is not commendable among students. In the national education system, the law must mandate the purpose of education so that students become human believers and fearful. The Qur'anic method of education that can be applied to students is the method of habituation, the method of Ḥiwār, the Method of Targhib and Tarhib (Reward and Funishment), the method of victory (story), the amthāl Method (Imagery or Metaphor),  and Mauizah Method.Key Word: Implementation, Education, Qur'ani

Abstract

Studying abroad is no longer the dream of a handful of Indonesian students. There are a variety of accesses enabling Indonesian students to realize their goals, one of which is the opportunity for external funding or scholarships. The scholarship is a support for the students who excel, but are constrained by economic problems to live abroad. This study aimed to identify the motivation of tertiary education graduates in Aceh, in participating in the scholarships to study abroad, and the expectations they wished to achieve from these scholarships. This study was a case study, using a questionnaire in data collection. A sample of 100 people were selected randomly. The data were then analyzed with the SPSS to see descriptive statistics and the significance of the data sets
