Abstract

The prevalence of chronic kidney disease (CKD) continues to increase and hemodialysis therapy is one of the main renal replacement therapies in CKD patients. There is a relationship between motivation and adherence to hemodialysis therapy in several previous studies. However, this study has never been conducted at the research location so this study aims to investigate the relationship between motivation and adherence of patients with CKD in undergoing hemodialysis therapy. The research design used in the study was descriptive quantitative correlation with a cross-sectional approach to explore the relationship between motivation and adherence of CKD patients in undergoing hemodialysis therapy. The population in this study were CKD patients who were undergoing hemodialysis therapy at Advent Hospital Bandung, totaling 100 patients. With the Simple Random Sampling technique and using the Michael and Isaac table, 79 respondents participated in the study. The instruments used in this study were the ESRD-AQ questionnaire (The End-Stage Renal Disease Adherence Questionnaire) and a valid motivation questionnaire to measure the motivation and adherence of patients with CKD in undergoing hemodialysis therapy. Univariate descriptive analysis and Spearman's rank bivariate correlation were used to answer the identified research questions. The results showed that most of the GHG patients had high motivation in undergoing hemodialysis therapy. It is suggested that healthcare should improve the quality of medical services for patients with GGK who undergo hemodialysis therapy. Further research is needed to investigate the factors associated with motivation and adherence using qualitative design. Kepatuhan dan motivasi merupakan hal penting untuk menetukan keberhasilan pengobatan terapi hemodialisa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menginvestigasi hubungan antara motivasi dan kepatuhan pasien GGK dalam menjalani terapi hemodialisa. Desain penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian adalah deskriptif kuantitatif korelasional dengan pendekatan cross-sectional untuk mengeksplorasi hubungan antara motivasi dan kepatuhan pasien GGK dalam menjalani terapi hemodialisa. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah pasien GGK yang sedang menjalankan terapi hemodialisa di Rumah Sakit Advent Bandung yang berjumlah 100 pasien. Dengan teknik pengambilan sampel Simple Random Sampling dan menggunakan tabel Michael dan Isaac, 79 responden berpartisipasi dalam penelitian. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kuesioner ESRD-AQ (The End-Stage Renal Disease Adherence Questionnaire) dan kuesioner motivasi yang telah valid untuk mengukur motivasi dan kepatuhan pasien GGK dalam menjalani terapi hemodialisa. Analisis deskriptif univariat dan korelasi bivariat Spearman’ rank digunakan untuk menjawab identifikasi masalah penelitian. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar pasien GGK memiliki motivasi tinggi dalam menjalani terapi hemodialisa yaitu berjumlah 44 responden (55,7%), sebagian besar pasien GGK patuh dalam menjalani terapi hemodialisa dengan jumlah 46 pasien (58,23%) dan terdapat hubungan antara motivasi dengan kepatuhan pasien GGK dalam menjalani terapi hemodialisa dengan nilai p-value adalah 0,001. Disarankan agar pelayanan kesehatan meningkatkan kualitas pelayanan medis bagi pasien GGK yang menjalani terapi hemodialisis. Penelitian lebih lanjut diperlukan untuk menyelidiki faktor-faktor yang berhubungan dengan motivasi dan kepatuhan dengan menggunakan desain kualitatif.

Abstract

Academic burnout is learning saturation that occurs among students, which is one of the main issues in higher education institutions. This condition affects various aspects of student life, both personal life and academic life, even academic achievement is under strain. This study aims to describe the academic burnout of nursing students in taking part in the time block system learning at Fakultas Ilmu Keperawatan Universitas Advent Indonesia. The type of this research is quantitative descriptive. By using the convenience sampling technique, the Bachelor of Nursing study program students who participated in this study amounted to 74 and the Diploma Three Nursing students were 13. Nursing students who have undergone block system learning for 3 semesters, in odd and even semesters of the 2022/2023 academic year and odd semester of the 2023/2023 academic year, participated. A valid instrument used in this study was a questionnaire containing 14 questions to measure academic burnout which was adopted from Arlinkasari, Akmal, and Raul (2017). Data were analyzed using frequency distribution to describe the level of academic burnout among nursing students The results showed that the majority of the respondents totaled 67 students (77,1%) were at mild academic burnout levels, and the dominant and less dominant identified were item number 11 and 13. It is inferred from the present study that by understanding the various levels of academic burnout among nursing students will provide the building block for further interventions designed to minimize the academic burnout among them. Burnout akademik atau kejenuhan belajar yang terjadi di kalangan mahasiswa merupakan salah satu masalah utama di institusi pendidikan tinggi. Kondisi ini mempengaruhi berbagai aspek kehidupan mahasiswa, baik kehidupan pribadi maupun kehidupan akademik, bahkan prestasi akademik pun menjadi tertekan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui gambaran kejenuhan akademik mahasiswa keperawatan dalam mengikuti pembelajaran sistem blok di Fakultas Ilmu Keperawatan Universitas Advent Indonesia. Jenis penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kuantitatif. Dengan menggunakan teknik convenience sampling, mahasiswa program studi Sarjana Keperawatan yang berpartisipasi dalam penelitian ini berjumlah 74 orang dan mahasiswa Diploma Tiga Keperawatan berjumlah 13 orang. Mahasiswa keperawatan yang berpartisipasi dalam penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa yang telah menjalani pembelajaran sistem blok selama 3 semester, yaitu semester ganjil dan genap tahun akademik 2022/2023 dan semester ganjil tahun akademik 2023/2024. Instrumen valid yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kuesioner yang berisi 14 pertanyaan untuk mengukur kejenuhan akademik yang diadopsi dari Arlinkasari, Akmal, Raul (2017). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa mayoritas responden yang berjumlah 67 mahasiswa (77,1%) berada pada tingkat burnout akademik ringan, dan yang teridentifikasi dominan dan kurang dominan adalah item nomor 11 dan 13. Hasil penelitian ini menjadi gambaran untuk dapat memahami berbagai tingkat kejenuhan akademik di kalangan mahasiswa keperawatan, kemudian memberikan dasar untuk intervensi lebih lanjut yang dirancang untuk mengatasi kejenuhan akademik di kalangan mahasiswa keperawatan.

Abstract

Introduction: Significant factors in influencing students' ability to pass the competency test include academic, cognitive, and individual aspects. Several factors that influence the success of the competency test from the perspective of student preparation in learning include motivation, reading ability, record management, time management, and critical thinking skills. Objective: This study aims to analyze the motivation and challenges of nurse graduates from Universitas Advent Indonesia in achieving graduation on the NCLEX-RN exam in California. Method: This study is a qualitative study with a phenomenological study that collects research data through in-depth interviews consisting of six UNAI alumni participants in California. Results: the results of the study in the form of research themes, namely: preparing for and requirements for the NCLEX exam, factors causing failure to pass the NCLEX exam, and motivation to take and pass the NCLEX exam. Conclusion: Nurses’ motivations in achieving NCLEX RN graduation in California are to improve finances, flexible working hours, make family happy, and be involved in complex patient care. Nurses’ challenges in achieving NCLEX RN graduation in California are meeting the administrative requirements for registering for the NCLEX RN exam, managing study time, understanding the material and the purpose of the exam questions, and adapting to the CAT exam system

Abstract

This study aims to explore the essence of web-based interactive learning to enhance HOTS-analyzing, evaluating and creating in nursing students. This study implemented a qualitative research approach based on two focus group interviews on a sample of 20 resource participants including nursing students and faculty members from bachelor nursing program and information technology program at Universitas Advent Indonesia. All interviews were recorded, transcribed verbatim and analyzed for thematic contents using the standard to a consensus on thematic coding, the investigators finally convened to examine, classify, and arrange themes and categories. A thematic content analysis yielded three core themes: Gaps in Current Learning Methods, Potential Benefits of Web-Based Interactive Tools, Perceived Challenges. Categories were consented as variability in learning paces, engagement with teaching material, adaptability in learning approaches, feedback timeliness, interactive learning, resource and scalability limitations, enhanced flexibility, increased engagement through interactive features, personalized learning experiences, improved access to resources, support for collaborative learning, efficiency and scalability, technical issues, digital divide, reduced face-to-face interaction, equity and inclusivity, potential over-reliance on technology, privacy and security. This study highlights the multifaceted nature of the essence of web-based interactive learning to enhance higher order thinking nursing students. Implications are seen as valuable for enhancing higher order thinking skills to teaching, learning and academic support resources.
