Abstract

Education is an important factor in improving human resources. The lack of educational facilities for underprivileged children is one of the problems that always arise in big cities, especially in Surabaya. The Mawari Shelter Community is a form of social service for the GKI Pregolan church in Surabaya which provides free educational facilities for underprivileged children. For this reason, the purpose of the Mawari Creative Home Interior Design in Surabaya is for education, a place for social interaction, and a place to facilitate creative activities that can improve the economy in the community. This design uses the Design Thinking method, consisting of 6 stages, Empathize, Define, Ideate, Prototype, Test, Implement, and Materialize. The application concept of "Love", applying Christian values into space with a Green touch and the concept of open space that leads directly to the garden to understand God as the light and center of the world. Besides, cheerful ambiance and dynamic in accordance with the character of children also want to be presented. Thus, the existence of this design can provides a positive influence for children, also as a place for talents and interests, which is children can comfortably use the facilities of Creative Houses.

Abstract

Early age is the most appropriate age for a child to develop their imagination in learning new things, but not many parents are able to see and take advantage of that moment.City of ‘Education’ as an image of the Malang City is the main reason for this design to be presented in the Malang City, so that children can be educated on the world of profession by playing. For this reason, a place like Kidzania Mini is needed in Malang Town Square that is able to present a professional experience for children aged 4 to 16 years with a smaller area.Design Thinking method was used as design guideline with the steps of understand, observe, point of view, ideate, prototype, and test. The basic concept of Kidzania Mini is a city park surrounded by profession buildings with a touch of Kidzania's character. The application of the character Kidzania is applied to profession spaces as well as statues and other decorations in the garden of the Kidzania City.

Abstract

Ende is a district in the center of the Flores island. Ende Regency has three main tribes namely Ja'o, Lio and Nga'o who are rich in values, philosophy, customs and culture that interesting to learn. In addition to culture, Ende Regency has natural beauty and a wealth of art and culture. However, the potential and wealth that exists does not yet have complete cultural learning space and facilities.Departing from the potential and problems that exist, the designer formulates the problem, how to design the interior of an Ende cultural information center that is innovative, creative and educative by raising the philosophy concept "Sao Ria" while introducing the traditional Ende-Lio house in its interior.The method used in this design follows the diagram made by Veronique Hillen which consists of 3 main stages , Inspiration, Ideation, and Implementation.The design implementation in this design raised the concept of Sao Ria which is a typical architectural building of Ende lio, and then packaged in a modern way. The facilities provided are galleries area based on seven cultural elements, multipurpose showrooms, auditoriums, music and dance studios, workshops, cafes, souvenir shops and other supporting facilities.

Abstract

Indonesia as an archipelagic state owns a group of large and small islands that have the potential to become tourist attractions spots, including one of them is Bali Island. Viewing from this perspective, the interior design of this resort has become a supporting medium for the development of tourist attractions in Bali, especially in Nusa Dua. This project was implemented in response to the high interest of domestic and foreign tourist, which makes Bali a major tourist spot with its own appeal, which is the beauty of its beach and sea. This resort will eventually provoke the interest from domestic and foreign tourists to visit tourist attraction spots located around Nusa Dua. The results of this resort design consist of lobby, receptionist, luggage room, waiting area, staff room, lounge, and bar.

Abstract

Lifestyle of modern people use some time to move out of residence (public space) makes the most of the private activities can not be fulfilled. It is an idea and the idea of creating a space that can meet the needs of the private in public spaces with small dimensions. Private space in the design of the library is housed in Petra Christian University Surabaya as space scope of small private space (minimal private space dimension). The creation of small private space in the interior of the library can be considered fulfillment activity is private and academic support activities at the Library of Petra Christian University in Surabaya.

Abstract

The interior design of Librarica (Cafe & Bar) serves as an interior medium that combines a cafe, lounge, and bar with a library and provides a variety of books. This café & bar with library concept is made as a place to relax and to gather with each other while reading books and eating great foods, which capable of attracting a greater public interest especially from young generation to read books and re-visit the cafe. Considering the huge number of people who come to a cafe to eat, relax, and communicate with their friends, this library cafe would be a very suitable choice for people to try. By facilitating the customer activities in order to give a relaxing and comforting environment to the people, the supporting rooms that will be used by the customer shall be designed or adjusted to the behavior of people around. Therefore, this cafe is able to accommodate the people’s activities which suit their behavior so that the convenience, safety, and the relaxing state can be achieved in this library cafe. So, with the effort of making this representative interior design concept, it is expected that the interest in reading books and the numbers of potential customers of this cafe will increase.

Abstract

Surabaya is known as a city with its residents who have various activities and focus on pursuing their career. As we enter the women’s emancipation era, now women also give their contribution by doing some of the works that men usually do. Many parents tend to forget the importance of a family; meanwhile, the role of parents is very significant for the child development. Third parties, such as child care has acted as parents’ destinations everyday as they put more focus on their jobs. Intergenerational Activity Center will provide solutions towards the problems stated above. This facility will act as a bridge between the needs of parents and their children which at the same time will enable the parents to take care of their children and do their jobs. The design method includes 7 stages, which are Define, Research, Ideate, Prototype, Select, Implement, and Learn. The result will be a complete facility for family with Family Park concept which offers fun, relaxing, and comfortable atmosphere for both the parents and their children. It will provide the core areas which are needed by most parents, such as working and reading spaces, canteen or restaurant, as well as sport facilities. Moreover, this facility offers educational entertainment for children since they will be able to enjoy the toys and games which emphasizing on educational purposes.

Abstract

Along with the development of information and internet, many people feel bored working in the office and a lot of them choose to work flexibly. Flexibility in work place causes offices that have facilities such as co-working space are more in demand today. High economic needs made both parents work formally and or informally. The rush of both made it difficult for them to divide their time to work and also look after their children. Therefore, we need an interior coworking space with day care facilities as a solution to overcome the difficulties experienced by parents. The method used is design thinking method with stages including literature studies, field observation, analysis, schematics and 3D modeling. The design concept chosen is Fun and Socialize with the goal to increase productivity and relationships between users. This concept is applied in the use of colors and space’s zoning-grouping. This design project involves adult and child users in their activities supported by day care, lobby, locker, gaming area, meeting rooms, and staff-office. Colors used in the design are blue, orange, and yellow. Orange and yellow are used to balance the color blue which has calm psychological effect.

Abstract

This research aims to interpret datas related to the profile study of Barata Sena who is a designer of furniture art. Wood is a fundamental material for Barata Sena's creative process. Woods that tend to be neglected by logging or woodworking fields such as hollowed, moldy, cracked, and curved woods are considered as a defect. For Barata Sena, that is not a problem. Everything born by Mother of Earth is natural things because in his creative thinking, whatever flaws of the trees, the problem is just how to integrate his intelligence into his cooperation with those tree trunks. The basic problems in this research are how the complete profile and philosophy in producing artwork furniture of Barata Sena and how the embodiment process of Barata Sena’s furniture artwork. The author uses qualitative descriptive method by doing in-depth interviews with the designer and documentation related on the field datas, such as masterpieces photos, interview result of Barata Sena with Bulan Soerbadjati, and internet source about Barata Sena. The design method used by Barata Sena is adjacent to the biomimicry design method, which inspiration comes from nature. The result of this study identifies the complete profile of Barata Sena and reveals Barata Sena's philosophy in his work and the process of it. In the process based on the main philosophy that "no wood is not good, every wood has the potential to be raised", there is the vision and spirit of design and process design method including creation and denial method which give new way of thinking for design learner in generating creation.

Abstract

The existence of art as an expression of creativity as well as preservation of values and culture has an important role to achieve an ideal city. Unfortunately, society gives less attention to art communities, artist, and local art in Samarinda. Based on this phenomenon, the designer aims to design an education and recreation facilities to support art activities in Samarinda. As one of the local communities in Samarinda, Ladang Community becomes the background of the design project. “Interior Design of Creative Arts Center, as an education and recreation facility for Ladang Community in Samarinda” adopted Standford d’School design thinking process. Some of the design’s steps are: (1) Understand, (2) Observe, (3) Point of View, (4) Ideate, (5) Prototype, (6) Test, (7) Implement. “Contemplative Art Practice” concept is applied in the design, such as in space arrangement for each art activities. The concept was expected to create a creative space for art communities, artist, and public. Some facilities in the design include lobby, office, meeting room, mini library, painting studio, dance studio, auditorium, gift shop, nature studio, etc. From this project, the local of Samarinda was expected to give more appreciation to the local art and express their creativity.
