Abstract

Kisho Kurokawa is a Japanese architect who also founder of metabolism movement. Metabolism movement is the response of over population in 1960s, after World War II. A group of young Japanese architects and designers think this is a problem that have be solved, that’s why they propose metabolism as a new urbanism. Metabolism comes from biological words “metabolism” which is means a chemical process to continue life. They adapt this life principal to create metabolism theory. Metabolism application on architect is in the building flexibility to be able to add or remove as the user’s need. As time goes by, each architect and designer goes their own ways to develop metabolism. Kisho Kurokawa uses life principal and develops metabolism theory to symbiosis. His symbiosis is symbiosis between interior and exterior, symbiosis between cultures or symbiosis between human and nature. Metabolism and symbiosis are his basic concept for his every building design, regardless his modern style with Japanese unsure on it.

Abstract

Elderly house is a building that functioned as a shelter for the elderly man was being treated, cared for and given more attention. Numbers of elderly who do not consider the functional aspects and comfort make the elderly are reluctant to stay in elderly house. The purpose of this scheme is to provide seniors with atmosphere and design of the natural environment, safe, back to nature for the elderly and provide full facilities to serve the needs of the elderly. The concept of this design is applied to the familiarity of the layout, organization of space and furniture and adjacent groups. In addition, the combination of colors and materials also supports the concept of familiarity on St.Yosef elderly house. In St. Yosef between public spaces interconnected set, used together, and open to one another, this interior design benefits the elderly is to provide a means for the elderly where they can socialize with comfortable quarters feel feel like home.

Abstract

The disruptive era Indonesian has been facing nowadays has brought many changes and development which has impacted the economics and industrial fields. Indonesia's Government has came with a solution through creative economy council, which has responsiblity for 16 sub sectors, with fashion as the growing sector. In Surabaya, there is one UKM which succesfully evolve as an accessories artisans since 2012. As an owner, Riski Hapsari has vision and mission for teaching women as many as possible, especially housewives, so that they have an accessories crafting skill which has sell value. The obstacle which was facing right now is how could a single space accomodate artisan's activities in order to raise productivity, people's interest and society's appreciation with Human Centered Design approaching method which intergrate collaborative, educative, creative, collective and home based creative economy aspects. For that, training space is designed as a solution to the obstacle. This training space offers Sharing House concept, which includes room for training, learning, selling and communicating for the artisans and housewives in order to create a creative and positive activity which collaborate and mutual sharing as a big family. The main reason of the designing is to give a chance to housewives to developing a profitable skill, which make Koleksikikie is better known and create digital economy ecosystem in Surabaya. The implementation of this Sharing House concept creates an activity space which includes arctistic making space, collaboration space, beads gallery, brainstorming space, creative garden, photo studio, book corner, office, sirculation area/parking lot, security pos, beads store and supporting space.

Abstract

Places or area that are not perfect to do production or buy and sell activities may reduce buyer’s interest. This wooden furniture comes from the root of waste which is no longer used and is processed and sold on the edge of the highway. With the interior design project of the gallery and workshop, it is expected to be able to help improve the economy of local community, especially the craftsmen. Another benefit gained is to increase the potential of locality, introduce soft and hard skills from the wood craftsmen, improve educational, recreational, interactive values for the community and reduce environmental problems. This design project used the Human Centered Design approach carried out from the traditional behavior of the local community in a natural context. This design process raises the design concept "Locana Wood" which consists of two meanings namely Localism and Naturalism. Localism is applied so that people feel the tradition of localization in the form of thoughts, systems, life philosophy and the values contained in it. In this case the local material is used in the design and human resources from local craftsmen. While Naturalism implemented by applying elements of nature and create designs to serve humans.

Abstract

Along with the large number of population in the city of Surabaya, this city is also the second busiest city in Indonesia with many activities outside of their residence. yang kurang diperhatikan oleh anggota keluarganya. Padahal diumur yang tidak lagi muda, lansia memiliki kebutuhan yang khusus untuk memelihara kesehatan fisik dan psikis mereka. This will raise the number of elders being left behind by their family members. In fact, on their senior year the elderlies have special necessities to maintain their physical and psychological health. The design purpose  is to accommodate the elderly to do activities during public work hours. The facility is designed to support users in fulfilling the physical, psychological, and social needs of the elderly.  The design method that will be used is Standford Design Thinking Process in 2009, which consists of understand, observe, ideate, prototype, test, and implementation. The results of the design is an Elderly Community Center with the concept of Eudamonia, which means the circumstances in which human become happy, healthy, and prosperous individuals. The facilities provided in this day care includes gym, physiotherapy, infrared therapy, area for Tai-chi and aerobic, reading area, etc.

Abstract

Outsourcing office is an office that provides labor distribution services. In the outsourcing office interactions happens from various parties, from office employees and company users to job applicants. In Surabaya, the outsourcing office facilities are still not integrated, resulting in less optimal service convenience. Basically, services formed when interaction happens between customers and service providers (This Is Service Design Thinking, p.36). Methods used in the design is Service Design Thinking which consists of 4 stages, they are exploration, creation, reflection and implementation. There are many tools in the method, some of which are customer journey maps, storyboards, canvas business models, and service blueprints. The use of the smart office concept emphasizes integrated office interior design and efficiency of space users, especially facilities and touchpoints for them. The design will benefits office employees, company users and job applicants to recognize the existence of an integrated office outsourcing service system through interior facilities for the convenience of employees.
