Abstract

Inclusive education in Madrasah Ibtidaiyah faces three main challenges: informal policies without written regulations, improvised curricula without standardized guidelines, and dependence on teachers as compensatory actors. This study aims to analyze inclusive education practices in Madrasah Ibtidaiyah, focusing on madrasah policies, the implementation of inclusive curricula, and teachers’ roles in supporting children with special needs. This research employed a qualitative case study at Private Islamic Primary School 30 Bustanul Ulum Ambulu. Data were collected through interviews, observations, documentation, and focus group discussions, and were analyzed using inductive thematic analysis with source-method triangulation to ensure the credibility of the findings. The study found that: 1) madrasah inclusive policies are based on empathy and social justice but remain institutionally unembedded, limiting services to children with mild special needs; 2) the inclusive curriculum is implemented informally through modification, differentiation, dual learning, and individualized assistance, depending on teachers’ pedagogical creativity in the classroom; and 3) teachers act as the main agents of inclusion through adaptation, assistance, motivation, emotional support, and family coordination, exceeding the support provided by the madrasah’s formal institutional system. This study concludes that inclusion in madrasah exists as an empathy-based socio-pedagogical practice but has not yet been institutionalized, making it dependent on teachers’ commitment and limited to children with mild special needs. This study recommends that madrasahs institutionalize inclusive education through written regulations, adaptive curricula, teacher training, accessible facilities, special assistant teachers, and family collaboration to ensure sustainable, measurable, and systemic services for children with special needs.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the management strategies of the One-Stop Integrated Service (PTSP) in optimizing administrative quality within Madrasahs. Employing a qualitative multi-site case study approach, the research utilized in-depth interviews, observation, and document analysis; data were analyzed using the interactive model developed by Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña and verified through source and technique triangulation. The findings reveal that Madrasah Tsanawiyah employs an "adaptive human-touch" strategy prioritizing interpersonal relationships and flexibility, whereas Madrasah Aliyah implements a "structured system-driven" strategy emphasizing standardization and digitalization. Both strategies effectively enhance administrative quality within their respective user contexts, though they still require strengthening in areas where each faces limitations. The study concludes that the success of PTSP depends on an institution's responsiveness to user characteristics rather than on system uniformity. These findings offer theoretical implications by reinforcing the contingency approach in public service management and provide practical implications for the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Madrasahs in designing adaptive service policies grounded in the values of amanah, ihsan, and itqan.

Abstract

The digital era presents new challenges in the field of education, particularly in shaping students' character. Reward and punishment are among the strategies used to develop student behavior in line with positive values. This study aims to analyze the use of reward and punishment in shaping the character of elementary school students in the digital era. The research approach employed is a qualitative case study design. Data collection techniques include observation, interviews, and documentation. The data obtained were analyzed through three steps: data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing. Data validity was ensured through source triangulation and technique triangulation. The results of the study indicate that implementing appropriate rewards can increase students’ learning motivation and positive behavior, while educational punishment can reduce negative behavior without causing harmful psychological effects. The conclusion of this study emphasizes that a proportionally applied reward and punishment model, aligned with technological advancements, can be an effective strategy for shaping the character of elementary school students in the digital era. The implication of this research is the need for educational policies that are adaptable to digital developments, allowing the reward and punishment model to be implemented optimally. Abstract

This research focused on the development of pesantren, especially in the institutional and educational aspects using a social capital perspective. The pesantren used as a research site is Pesantren of Miftahul Ulum, Suren, Jember. To delve into the focus of this research, the researcher, thus, tried to understand and interpret the development of the pesantren from the perspective of social capital. To achieve these objectives, this research was conducted by using a qualitative approach with the type of phenomenology using a single site design. The data collection technique used was participant observation, so that researcher could participate in every Islamic boarding school's institutional and educational programs. This research finds that social capital is able to transform pesantren from institution with an isolative-traditionalist paradigmatic system to a modernist synthesis. Even the education system is from a dichotomous to a non-dichotomous system (a pattern of education that is oriented towards spiritualistic-humanist values); theocentric to theoanthropocentric pattern. This social capital is also a potential for pesantren as spiritual patrons and the vanguard of the source of values and morality of the surrounding community.
