The disaster, the death, and the monster are said to be God’s will. It shows that the fundamental of belief is changed from blessing life to cursing life. Furthermore, society’s moral has degenerated that they justify the wrong thing as right, and otherwise because they only think about their safety. Abstract

Myth is an important part of the history of Indonesian civilization. This study tries to reveal the position of tigers as a myth believed in Sundanese society. In conducting the research, textual analysis by using Kurniawan’s Man Tiger as the primary data was employed. The researcher analyzed how the tiger as a symbol in Sundanese myth represents a specific power relation in society. Levi-Strauss’ structuralism was used. After determining units, episodes, and mythemes, binary opposition was used to reveal the meanings. The results of the study show that Man Tiger has eight episodes. It is also found out that there are different power relations established by two basic situations, namely Sundanese traditional and urban societies. In Sundanese traditional society, tiger owners are considered heroes because they protect people from both invaders and robbers. Because of this, they are put in a high place. These beliefs and power relations are very evident in the sphere of traditional society, while they begin to fade in the urban society. In other words, Sundanese traditional society has a myth-based-power relation showing that the tigers’ owner have notable and high position, while the urban society socially has no power relation based on myth.

Compared to other literary works, drama is the most unique one. It is based on thedefinition that drama is made to be performed. For the reader, these images of actioncome to life when we interact with the combination of dialogues and stage directionswe call a script. The printed page does not make drama itself. The activating ingredientis our living response to what we read. And the two most important resources we haveas readers are our powers of imagination and empathy. Drama analysis as one of thesubjects learned in a university has become a class that is tiresome and timeconsuming.Students often do not enjoy or even understand the text. It is due to themethod of learning which focuses on the structural elements of the text. To avoid suchconstraint there are two alternative approaches provided by the writer, they are readerresponse and intertextuality. Those two methods are the combination of readers, text, and how the readers respond to the text. They can be applied as a solution of students'boredom in a drama analysis class. Abstract

This research was based on concerns about the quality betterment of the academic paper translations translated from Indonesian to English. The quality of the academic paper translation is still inaccurate and less natural because the authors translated using Google Translation. The combination of Google Translate and Grammarly Application (GTG-com App) as a developed translation application can be one application of translation that gives an effective and fast solution in translating academic papers from Indonesian into English. This app can improve the quality of translation grammatically, syntactically, lexically, and mechanically. The goal of this study is to help translators translate Indonesian academic papers into more accurate and natural English. The research method used is Research and Development (R & D). In this study, first, the researchers did a translation pretest of translating five academic papers done by five lecturers as the participants used Google Translate (GT) from Indonesian into English. Second, we assessed the translation products based on the accuracy and naturalness levels using the translation quality assessment scales. Third, we distributed questionnaire 1 of translators’ responses on GT translation products to five lecturers as the respondents and interviewed them about their needs for a new trans tool that can help them easily, accurately, naturally, and quickly translate their academic papers. Fourth, we developed GTG-Com App. Fifth, we did a translation posttest using GTG-Com App. Sixth, we compared the translation scores of GT translation to the GTG-Com App translation products. Seventh, we distributed questionnaire 2 of translators’ responses on GTG-Com App usage, and Eighth, we interviewed the same respondents about the GTG-Com App effectiveness. The data were analyzed descriptively using the t-Test formula and translation quality assessment scales. The research results show that GTG-Com App produced more accurate and natural translations than Google Translate (GT) did. The translation accuracy of using the GTG-Com App is 2.65 (accurate) while using GT is just 2.00 (less accurate). In this case, there is a difference in the score of 0.65 and the GTG-Com App is more accurate. The translation naturalness of using the GTG-Com App is 2.74 (natural) while using GT is just 2.48 (less natural). Similarly, at the level of naturalness GTC-com App produces a more natural 0.26 than GT.

Abstract

This research was aimed to describe the gender performance of Miranda Priestly as the main character in Weisberger’s The Devil Wears Prada. As the data of the study were in the form of sentences, dialogue, phrases, and narrative, a qualitative method is served by using a literature review. It is chosen because the qualitative method is based on human behaviors or actions. Furthermore, this study also analyzed gender and feminism as a part of human behaviors and actions . In analyzing the data, the researcher used Judith Butler’s postmodernism feminist theory as an approach to describe gender performance in Weisberger’s The Devil Wears Prada. The result of the study indicates that Miranda Priestly’s gender performance is displayed through her general description and gender reconstruction. The findings show that through Miranda Priestly’s general description, her gender performance was described as an influential and successful chief editor of American Runway magazine. It further shows Miranda Priestly’s gender reconstruction by challenging the gender stereotypes toward women's characterizations and performing masculine traits. By reconstructing her gender, Miranda Priestly’s gender performance reveals that gender is performative and carries a variety of actions or behaviors that are revised, updated and transformed throughout time.
