Abstract

This article is entitled the method of explaining Qirâ'at in the book of commentary on Fath al-Qadir by Imam al-Syaukâni. In interpreting the Qur'an, al-Syaukâni also very often uses the Qira'at approach in explaining the meaning of the sentences of the Qur'an. This article examines how al-Syaukâni applies methods to the differences in Qirâ'at in his interpretation, and how al-Syaukâni's method resolves differences in Qirâ'at in his interpretation. Using a descriptive-analytical approach, this study examines the basic concepts of the rules of interpretation of the differences in Qirâ'at, looks for the roots of the character's thoughts, explains the advantages and disadvantages of the method including its implications. From the results of the discussion, it can be concluded that in the explanation of Qirâ'at, al-Syaukâni mentions which opinion is the strongest. Almost every verse that is interpreted is always made comparisons, this can be seen from the nazhair Qur'an (the similarity of meaning in other verses), as well as comparing the readings of the Qira'at of the Qurra'. Al-Syaukâni examines the strongest opinion from various interpretations by determining and explaining its meaning in the form of interpretations of al-Riwayah and al-Dirayah. Al-Syaukâni also uses three methods of approach, namely majhul, ma'lum, and istisyhad (proof with Arabic poems).

Abstract

This research deals with the statement about the approach of the Prophets, may God bless them and grant them peace, in raising children through their supplications for their offspring in the Holy Qur’an. They are the most knowledgeable of people about the methods of correct upbringing, and the most careful of people about their children and what is best for them. They, may God’s prayers be upon them, used to pray to God for their children’s righteousness before and after their birth. The research included an introduction, two sections, and a conclusion. The research aims to identify the greatest reasons for the well-being of the offspring - after taking into account the reasons - frequent supplication for them and supplication to God to rectify them, then highlighting the types of prophets’ supplications, their etiquette, and their methods of supplication. The importance of this topic is evident because supplication has a great impact on the welfare of children. We found the best of creation among the prophets and messengers asking God Almighty and urging Him, Glory be to Him, to improve their offspring. The status of the blessing of children in Islam, and the necessity of taking care of their upbringing, has become clear, and there is no clearer evidence of this than the Holy Qur’an’s explanation of the status of this divine gift. The supplication of parents for children is the approach of the prophets and the righteous among His servants. Keywords: Curriculum of the Prophets, raising children, light of the Qur’an

Abstract

Abstract

This study discusses the rational interpretation of Q.S. al-Baqarah verse 164 concerning the signs of Allah’s power in Tafsir al-Manār by Muhammad ‘Abduh and Rasyid Rida. This study is motivated by the need to understand the relationship between revelation and scientific reality within the framework of modern Qur’anic exegesis. Muhammad ‘Abduh and Rasyid Rida employed a rational (‘aqli) approach in interpreting verses related to natural phenomena, emphasizing the role of reason and scientific observation in recognizing the greatness of Allah. This study adopts a library research method, using Tafsir al-Manār as the primary source, supported by relevant books, journals, and academic articles as secondary references. The analysis is conducted descriptively and analytically to identify the interpretive principles (qawā‘id al-tafsīr) applied by the exegetes, including al-Tafsīr bi al-Qur’ān, al-Tafsīr bi al-‘Aql, al-Tafsīr bi al-Wāqi‘, and al-Tawḥīd wa al-Tajdid. The results show that Tafsir al-Manār interprets natural phenomena such as the heavens, the earth, rain, and wind not merely as physical realities but as āyāt kauniyyah (cosmic signs) that guide human beings to think and strengthen their faith. Revelation and science are viewed as complementary, not contradictory, in affirming Allah’s oneness and wisdom.

Abstract

The Qur’an serves as a comprehensive guide for life, directing spiritual aspects and regulating the social dimensions of human existence. To grasp its universal messages comprehensively, an asbāb al-nuzūl approach is essential, as it traces the historical context of the revelation. This study examines the application of the asbāb al-nuzūl concept in Tafsir al-Jalālain by Jalāl al-Dīn al-Maḥallī and Jalāl al-Dīn al-Suyūṭī and its relevance to the formation of social interpretation, particularly concerning QS. An-Nisā’ [4]:58 and QS. al-Ḥujurāt [49]:9. Employing a qualitative-descriptive approach through library research, this study explores the exegetes’ interpretive patterns. The findings indicate that Tafsir al-Jalālain employs asbāb al-nuzūl not only to explain the causes of revelation but also to affirm broader moral and social meanings. QS. An-Nisā’ [4]:58 emphasizes the values of trustworthiness and justice in public leadership, while QS. al-Ḥujurāt [49]:9 highlights the importance of reconciliation in mitigating social conflicts. The application of the principle al-‘ibrah bi ‘umūm al-lafẓ lā bi khuṣūṣ as-sabab universalizes the message of the verses, making them relevant across the ages. Thus, Tafsir al-Jalālain is not only a concise exegesis (tafsīr ijmālī) but also contributes significantly to shaping a contemporary paradigm of social interpretation that resonates with modern reality.

Abstract

This study aims to examine Qur'anic literacy as a conceptual and practical foundation for shaping sakinah (harmonious) and just families amid the challenges of modernity, value disruption, and global spiritual crises. Qur'anic literacy is understood not merely as the ability to read the sacred text, but as an internalization of divine values that cultivates moral, spiritual, and social awareness within Muslim family life. Employing a descriptive qualitative approach through library research, this study analyzes primary and secondary sources, including classical and contemporary tafsir, scholarly books, and scientific articles published in the past five years. Thematic analysis was used to explore Qur'anic principles relevant to the formation of harmonious and equitable family structures. The findings reveal that Qur'anic literacy serves as an epistemological foundation for developing ethical and egalitarian perspectives on spousal relationships and child-rearing. Families with a high level of Qur'anic literacy tend to maintain balanced roles, strengthen spiritual communication, and foster compassion-based dynamics within the household. Furthermore, integrating Qur'anic literacy with digital technology plays a significant role in reinforcing moral education and family resilience in the contemporary era. This study concludes that contextual and reflective Qur'anic literacy is crucial for building Muslim families that are not only harmonious and just but also serve as the cornerstone of Qur'anic civilization grounded in humanism, inclusivity, and social justice.

Abstract

The phenomenon of divorce in the digital age shows a rapid increase, especially due to the involvement of social media in the family life period which is the main trigger. Divorce that used to only occur through formal legal mechanisms now often appears in the form of a digital divorce or through a social media liaison procedure such as talaq statements through text messages, uploads on social media, or online or online communication. In this context, the Qur'an remains the main source in leading Muslims to understand the nature of a divorce, not just as a breakdown of a relationship, but as a spiritual process based on the values of ihsan and piousness. This study aims to examine the law of divorce according to the Qur'an, focusing on the values of ihsan and piety as a moral solution to a major phenomenon of divorce in the digital era. This study uses a normative approach with a thematic interpretation analysis method (maudhu'i) on divorce verses in the Qur'an, such as QS. Al-Baqarah: 229–232 and QS. At-Talaq: 1-7.

Abstract

This research is based on the widespread practice of divorce and reconciliation that are not in accordance with the provisions of sharia and positive law, such as divorce outside the court, reconciliation without registration, and ignorance of the iddah period and women's rights, which reflect the weak Qur'anic literacy of family law verses, especially QS. al-Baqarah 229–232 and QS. at-Talaq 1–2. This library research examines tafsir books, works of classical and contemporary scholars, laws and regulations, as well as journal articles, national books, and empirical studies with an analytical-descriptive approach to interpret the meaning of the verses and their relevance to modern legal practice in Indonesia. The results of the study indicate that Qur'anic literacy plays a significant role in increasing legal awareness in Muslim society, encouraging compliance with court procedures, the importance of official registration, avoiding emotional divorce, and strengthening household ethics to prevent the abuse of divorce and minimize post-separation conflict. The integration of Qur'anic literacy with modern legal literacy ultimately forms a family law culture that is orderly, fair, and in harmony with maqāṣid al-syarī'ah. Thus, strengthening Qur'anic literacy becomes a strategic step in fostering obedience to the rules regarding divorce and reconciliation.

Abstract

Cases of Domestic Violence (KDRT) against women have increased significantly, both physically and psychologically. In this context, Surah An-Nisa' verse 34 provides gradual guidelines for dealing with nusyuz, including moral warnings that are often translated literally as "pukullah" (wadhribuhunna). This study aims to analyze the meaning of wadhribuhunna through a review of classical to contemporary scholars, sort out the meaning based on the rules of fiqh choosing a lighter mudharat, and apply it in modern household life with a theoretical approach of Symbolic Interaction. The results of the analysis show that the most strict mufasir groups, such as Al-Biqa'i, Wahbah al-Zuhaili, Hamka, Rashid Riḍā, and M. Quraish Shihab, emphasize symbolic and educational understanding of the word "hit", so that the risk of physical and psychological harm can be minimized. The application of this symbolic meaning is in harmony with the principle of benefit, encourages healthy communication, and strengthens household harmony. The Symbolic Interactionism approach emphasizes that the meaning of the verse is formed through social interaction, individual reflection, and negotiation of moral values, so that symbolic interpretation becomes an effective preventive strategy against domestic violence.
