Abstract

ABSTRACTCommunicative Approach (CA) is probably the most popular approach in the recent English language teaching (ELT) in Indonesia. The curriculum underpinning ELT in the country has changed several times, although in the last 35 years its basis has been revolving around the communicative approach. Despite the fact that the communicative curriculum has been implemented for a long time, some research studies (Dardjowidjojo, 2000; Musthafa, 2001) indicated that it has not brought significant improvements in the terms of learners’ outcome. The reason for this might be a number of the teachers appear to have developed some misconceptions of CLT. This study is, therefore, aimed at exploring EFL Indonesian teachers’ perspectives toward communicative approach in their classrooms. Six participants were involved in this study in which two participants were chosen from each level of education (primary, secondary and university levels). The study employed a qualitative design by using questionnaire and in-depth interviews as methods of data collection. The results indicated that the university teachers in this study tend to have a broader view of CLT, while a number of the school teachers appear to have developed some misconceptions of it, i.e. the “not” teaching grammar and the teaching “only” speaking. How to Cite: Rahmawati, Y.(2018). Abstract

Pregnancy is a time full of hope and challenges for every mother, which is often caused by physical complaints such as back pain, difficulty sleeping, and anxiety. Prenatal yoga is here as a safe and effective solution to help pregnant women overcome these discomforts. This community service activity aims to increase the knowledge and skills of pregnant women in Pamulihan Village, Larangan District, Brebes Regency, regarding the benefits of prenatal yoga through educational sessions and practicing yoga movements. The activity involved 15 participants from various trimesters of pregnancy who were selected based on certain criteria. Education is delivered in the form of presentations, distribution of leaflets, and direct practice of yoga movements designed to suit the physical needs of pregnant women. Evaluation was carried out through pre-test and post-test, which showed a significant increase in participants' knowledge, from 20% in the "good" category in the pre-test to 80% in the post-test. The results of the activity show that prenatal yoga not only helps reduce physical complaints such as back pain and leg cramps, but is also effective in reducing pregnant women's anxiety levels before giving birth. Pregnant women who take part in this activity feel healthier, calmer, and ready to handle childbirth. It is hoped that continuous education and collaboration between medical personnel and the community can expand the scope of the benefits of prenatal yoga for pregnant women in other areas. Abstract

Drug abuse by police officers not only raises legal issues, but also ethical issues in the police profession. In this case, criminal and ethical liability are two interrelated aspects. Criminal liability relates to legal actions that must be taken against police officers who are proven guilty of drug abuse, while ethical liability relates to violations of the police code of ethics that reflect the morals and integrity of the profession. The formulation of the problem is 1) How are the legal regulations related to drug abuse by police officers in Indonesia? 2) How are the criminal and ethical liabilities for police officers involved in drug cases? The approach method used in this legal research is to use the normative legal approach method. The results of the research are legal regulations related to criminal acts committed by members of the police, namely regulated in several regulations, Law Number 2 of 2002 concerning the Republic of Indonesia Police, Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics, Law Number 36 of 2009 concerning Health and criminal and ethical responsibility for police members involved in narcotics cases, Criminal sanctions that can be given in the form of imprisonment and fines according to the crime committed.

Abstract

Traffic accidents caused by drowsiness continue to pose a serious threat to road safety. Many of these accidents can be prevented by alerting drivers when they begin to feel sleepy. This research introduces a non-invasive system for detecting driver drowsiness based on visual features extracted from videos captured by a dashboard-mounted camera. The proposed system utilizes facial landmark points and a facial mesh detector to identify key areas where the mouth aspect ratio, eye aspect ratio, and head pose are analyzed. These features are then fed into three different classification models: 1D-CNN, LSTM, and BiLSTM. The system’s performance was evaluated by comparing the use of these features as indicators of driver drowsiness. The results show that combining all three facial features is more effective in detecting drowsiness than using one or two features alone. The detection accuracy reached 0.99 across all tested models.
