Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah (1) untuk menemukan apakah ada peningkatan signifikan secara statistik atas pemahaman siswa terhadap penggunaan tense setelah pembelajaran; (2) tipe tense dan jenis kalimat yang lebih dikuasai siswa sebelum dan setelah pembelajaran. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuantitatif yang menggunakan pola one group pretest-posttest. Data penelitian diperoleh menggunakan tes grammar yang disajikan dalam bentuk pilihan ganda. Hasil penelitian ini mengungkapkan bahwa (1) pemahaman siswa terhadap tense meningkat signifikan setelah diajar menggunakan lirik lagu yang dimodifikasi; (2) siswa lebih menguasai simple present dan (3) kalimat nominal sebelum dan sesudah diajar menggunakan lirik lagu yang dimodifikasi. Hasil penelitian ini mengindikasikan bahwa lirik lagu yang dimodifikasi adalah media yang baik untuk mengajar tense.The aims of this study were to find out whether (1) there was statistically significant improvement of the students achievement on tensesafter they weretaughtthrough modified song lyrics; (2) which type of tensesand(3) which type of sentences they mastered better before and after getting the treatment. This research was quantitative study which employed one group pretest-posttest design. The data were collected through grammar test in form of multiple choice. The findings revealed that (1) the students achievement on tenses was significantly improved after they were taught through modified song lyrics; (2) they mastered simple present tense better than simple past tense and (3) nominal sentences better than verbal sentences before and after being taught through modified song lyrics. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah ada peningkatan yang signifikan pada kemampuan kosa kata siswa setelah diajar dengan menggunakan guessing game, dan bagaimana respon siswa dalam pembelajaran kosa kata setelah diajar menggunakan guessing game. Populasi penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas satu SMPN 4 Bandar Lampung. Sampel dari penelitian ini adalah kelas VII A yang terdiri dari 32 siswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain kuntitatif dengan menggunakan tes kosa kata dan desain kualitatif dengan menggunakan kuesioner. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa terdapat hasil yang signifikan terhadap kosa kata siswa setelah diajar menggunakan guessing game karena t-value t-table. Aspek kosa kata yang paling tinggi peningkatannya yaitu kata kerja. Selain itu, hasil kedua yang diteliti menggunakan kuesioner menunjukan bahwa sebagian besar siswa belajar tanpa tekanan, belajar dengan senang, dan mendapatkan pengetahuan baru. The aims of the research were to find out whether there was a significant improvement in students’ vocabulary mastery after being taught by using guessing game, and how is students’ response in vocabulary mastery after being taught by using guessing game. The population of the research was the first-grade students’ of SMPN 4 Bandar Lampung. The sample of the research was class VII A consisted of 32 students. This research applied a quantitative and qualitative design. The result of this research showed that there was a significant improvement in students’ vocabulary mastery after being taught by using guessing game since t-value t-table. And the most improved aspect of vocabulary was verb. In addition, the second research which used questionnaire showed that the majority of the students work with no pressure, have some fun, and get some new information.Keywords: vocabulary, guessing game, students’ response.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah ada perbedaan yang signifikan pada kemampuan berbicara siswa antara kegiatan belajar mengajar menggunakan teknik clamshell dan teknik grup diskusi. Control group pretest posttest design adalah desain yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini. Data penelitian diperoleh melalui pretest dan posttest. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa ada perbedaan yang signifikan antara kegiatan belajar mengajar menggunakan teknik clamshell dan teknik grup diskusi dengan level signifikansi (0.0040.05). Teknik clamshell memiliki hasil peningkatan nilai yang lebih besar dibandingkan dengan teknik grup diskusi. Sehingganya, dapat disarankan bahwa mengajar berbicara melalui teknik clamshell dan teknik grup diskusi membuat siswa menjadi lebih aktif. This research was aimed to find out whether there was a statistically significant difference of students’ speaking ability between those who were taught through clamshell technique and those who were taught through a small group discussion. Control group pretest posttest design was used in this research. The data were obtained from pre-test and post test. The result showed that there was a statistically significant difference between the students who were taught through clamshell technique and small group discussion with the significant level (0.0040.05). The increase of posttest and pretest of clamshell technique is higher than a small group discussion. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui korelasi antara penguasaan kosa kata dalam membaca teks narasi. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain co-relational pada ex post facto. Data sampel dipilih dengan menggunakan sistem acak. Pengambilan sampel diambil dari siswa kelas 9 SMP N 1 Tegineneng pesawaran kelas IX D yang terdiri dari 30 siswa. Pengumpulan data dengan menggunakan test dan dianalisa dengan menggunakan SPSS pada level significant 0,05 .Hasil menunjukan ada korelasi signifikan antara kemampuan penguasaan kosa kata siswa dan kemampuan narati teksnya, dengan rxy adalah 0.729 dengan N berjumlah 30, derajad kebebasan pada level 0,05 sementara r table 0.370 yang berarti korelasi signifikan. Oleh karena itu hipotesis penelitian h1 diterima dan hipotesis h0 ditolak.The objective of this research is to find out the correlation between students` vocabulary mastery and their reading focus on narrative text. This. The research design used a corelational design of ex post facto design. The samples of the research were selected by using simple random sampling from the students of the third year of SMP N 1 Tegineneng, Pesawaran. Class IX.D was taken as the sample class of this research which consists of 30 students. The data were collected by means of test and were analyzed by using SPSS at the significant level 0.05, the result showed that there was a significant correlation between students` vocabulary mastery and their reading comprehesion in of narrative text. The result showed that is 0.729 with N 30, Degree of freedom (df) N-2 to the real level = 0.05 while is 0.370. Thus, ; meaning the correlation is significant. Therefore, the research hypothesis ( ) was accepted and the null hypothesis ( ) was rejected.Keywords: narrative text, students, vocabulary

Abstract

Abstract : Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah penggunaan teknik talking chipmeningkatkan kemampuan berbicara siswa. Pendekatan penelitian ini adalahpenelitian kuantitatif. Tes berbicara digunakan sebagai instrument pengambilandata. Subyek penelitian ini adalah 70 siswa kelas sebelas pada siswa sekolahmenengah atas. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa secara statistik adapeningkatan yang signifakan dalam peningkatan berbicara siswa setelah siswadiajarkan menggunakan teknik talking chip. Penelitian ini menyarankan bahwateknik talking chip memfasilitasi siswa untuk meningkatkan pencapaian.The aim ofthis study was to find out whether the use of talking chip technique improved the students speaking ability. The approach of this study wasquantitative. Speaking tests were used as the instrument to elicit the data.Thesubjects of this study were 70 second grade students of senior high schoolstudents. The result showed that there was a statistically significant improvementof studentsspeaking achievement after the students were taught through talkingthe chip technique. Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui apakah terdapat peningkatan signifikan dari performa berbicara siswa setelah pembelajaran melalui gambar berseri. Desain pre-test dan post-test satu kelompok digunakan dalam penelitian ini. Hasil penelitian membuktikan bahwa terdapat perbedaan signifikan dari pencapaian siswa dalam performa berbicara sebelum dan sesudah pembelajaran melalui serial gambar. Nilai rata-rata dari pre-test adalah 57 dan post-test adalah 84. Dengan membandingkan rata-rata dari pre-test dan post-test, itu dapat diketahui bahwa peningkatan rata-rata adalah 27. Ini membuktikan bahwa skor siswa meningkat dengan signifikan karena p0.05 (p=0.000). Berdasarkan data, ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan signifikan dari pencapaian siswa dalam performa berbicara sebelum dan sesudah pembelajaran melalui gambar berseri. Oleh karena itu, mengajar menggunakan gambar berseri dianjurkan untuk digunakan oleh para guru agar meningkatkan performa berbicara siswa.The objective of this research is to know whether there is a significant improvement of the students’ speaking performance after being taught through series pictures. The one group pre-test and post-test design was used in this research. The result of the research proved that there is a significant difference of students’ achievement in speaking performance before and after being taught through series pictures.The mean score of pre-test was 57 and post-test was 84. By comparing between the mean of pre-test and post-test, it can be found that the increase of the mean was 27. It proved that the students’ scores increase significantly because p0.05 (p=0.000). Based on the data, it can be concluded that there is a significant difference of students’ achievement in speaking performance before and after being taught through series pictures. Therefore, series pictures is recommended to be used by teachers to improve the students’ speaking performance.Keywords: improvement, series pictures, speaking performance

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilaksanakan untuk mencari tahu (1) ada atau tidaknya peningkatan secara signifikan dalam pencapaian berbicara siswa dengan menggunakan permainan hidden object sebagai sebuah medium dalam mengajarkan monolog deskripsi, dan (2) respon siswa dalam implementasi permainan hidden object. Subjek penelitian ini adalah 36 siswa kelas sepuluh SMA. Data diperoleh dari pretest, posttest dan kuesioner. Paired samples t-test digunakan untuk menguji nilai siswa. Hasil uji menunjukkan bahwa terdapat peningkatan signifikan secara statistik oleh permainan hidden object terhadap pencapaian berbicara siswa dengan tingkat signifikan (0.000.05). Para siswa juga memberikan respon positif terhadap implementasi permainan hidden object. Berdasarkan hal ini, dapat disimpulkan bahwa permainan hidden object mempermudah siswa untuk meningkatkan pencapaian berbicara.The research was conducted to find out (1) whether the hidden object game as a medium in teaching descriptive speaking has a significance effect to increase speaking achievement, and (2) how the students responses to the implementation of the hidden object game. The subjects were 36 students of first grade students of senior high school. The data were obtained from the pretest, the posttest, and the questionnaire. Paired samples t-test was used to test the students scores. The result showed that there was a statistically significant effect of the hidden object game on the students speaking achievement with significant level (0.000.05). The students also gave positive responses of the implementation of the hidden object game. This suggests that the hidden object game facilitates the students to improve their speaking achievement.Keywords: Hidden object game, speaking achievement, teaching speaking.

Abstract

Salah satu keterampilan berbahasa yang paling penting untuk dikuasai dalam pemenuhan fungsi bahasa adalah berbicara. Kita dapat menggunakan berbagai macam teknik untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berbicara siswa. Salah satu teknik yang dapat digunakan adalah main peran. Main peran dapat menciptakan simulasi kondisi nyata dimana bahasa digunakan. Oleh karena itu tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk melihat apakah main peran dapat meningkatkan kemampuan berbicara siswa. Peneliti menggunakan desain pre-test and post-test. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa nilai rata-rata meningkat dari 58.25 (pretest) ke 70.38 (posttest) dan nilai signifikansi berada dibawah 0.05 yang berarti peningkatan yang terjadi signifikan. Jadi, dapat disimpulkan bahwa main peran merupakan salah satu teknik yang sesuai untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berbicara siswa.One of the most important language skills to be mastered is speaking. We can use various fun and effective methods and techniques to increase students’ speaking ability. One of the methods can be used known as role play. Role play can provide the real reflection of condition in real life where the language used. That is why the objective of this research was to see whether role play can improve students’ speaking ability. The researcher used pre-test and post-test design in this research. Based on the data, the researcher found that there were significant improvements in students’ speaking performance. The data shows that the mean improved from 58.25 (pretest) to 70.38 (posttest) and the value of significance (2 tailed) was 0.000 and the sign α (0.000 0.05). It can be said that role play can be used as one of the most suitable techniques in teaching speaking in order to increase students’ speaking ability.Keywords: role play, speaking ability, teaching speaking.
