<![CDATA[This quasi experimental research aimed to find out the effectiveness of problem based learning model in terms of students understanding of mathematical concepts. The design of this research was posttest only control design with the population was all students of grade 7th of SMP Kartika II-2 Bandar Lampung in academic year of 2015/2016 and the samples of this research were students of VII 2 and VII 3 class that were taken by purposive sampling technique. The data of understanding of mathematical concepts were obtained by test. The result of this research concluded that the implementation of problem based learning model was effective in terms of students understanding of mathematical concepts and more effective than conventional learning.Penelitian eksperimen semu ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas model pembelajaran berbasis masalah ditinjau dari pemahaman konsep matematis siswa. Desain penelitian ini adalah posttest-only control design dengan populasinya seluruh siswa kelas VII SMP Kartika II-2 Bandar Lampung tahun pelajaran 2015/ 2016 dan sampel penelitian adalah siswa kelas VII 2dan VII 3 yang ditentukan dengan teknik purposive sampling. Data pemahaman konsep matematis siswa diperoleh melalui tes. Hasil Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa penerapan model pembelajaran berbasis masalah efektif ditinjau dari pemahaman konsep matematis siswa dan lebih efektif dibandingkan dengan pembelajaran konvensional.Kata kunci: efektivitas, pemahaman konsep, pembelajaran berbasis masalah]]>
