This research aimed to find out the effectiveness of cooperative learning model of team games tournament type in terms of students mathematical representation ability. The population of this research was all students of grade 8th of SMP Muhammadiyah 3 Bandar Lampung in academic year of 2015/2016 which was distributed into 6 classes. The samples of this research were students of VIIIA and VIIIB class who were taken by purposive sampling technique. The design which was used was posttest only control group design. The research data were obtained by mathematical representation ability test. Based on the result of data analysis, cooperative learning model of team games tournament type wasnt effective in terms of mathematical representation ability.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe team games tournament ditinjau dari kemampuan representasi matematis. Populasi penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas VIII SMP Muhammadiyah 3 Bandar Lampung tahun pelajaran 2015/2016 yang terdistribusi dalam enam kelas. Sampel penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VIIIA dan VIIIB yang ditentukan dengan teknik purposive sampling. Desain yang digunakan adalah posttest only control group design. Data penelitian diperoleh melalui tes kemampuan representasi matematis. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data, model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe team games tournament tidak efektif ditinjau dari kemampuan representasi matematis siswa.Kata kunci: pembelajaran kooperatif, representasi matematis, team games tournament
