Abstract

This research aimed to describe the effectiveness of problem solving in increasing question focus ability in electrolyte-nonelectrolyte solution. The population this research was 440 students from all the MIA of the 10th grade in SMA Negeri 1 Natar for 2014/2015 academic year, with the MIA2and the MIA3 of the 10th grade as the research class. The sample of the research was taken by using cluster random technique. Quasi experiment method using non equivalent control group used as research design. The result showd that the learning with problem solving is effective in increase question focus ability in electrolyte non-electrolyte.Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mendeskripsikan efektivitas problem solving dalam meningkatkan kemampuan memfokuskan pertanyaan pada larutan elektrolit non-elektrolit. Populasi penelitian sebanyak 440 siswa dari seluruh kelas X MIA SMA Negeri 1 Natar Tahun Pelajaran 2014-2015 dengan kelas X MIA2 dan X MIA3 sebagai kelas penelitian. Sampel diambil dengan teknik cluster random sampling. Metode kuasi eksperimen menggunakan non equivalent control group. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pembelajaran denganproblem solving efektif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan memfokuskan pertanyaan pada larutan elektrolit non-elektrolit.Kata kunci: Model problem solving, kemampuan memfokuskan pertanyaan, larutan elektrolit non-elektrolit.

Abstract

This research aimed to describe the effectiveness and practicality of SiMaYang type II learning model to improve metacognition ability and science process skills on electrolyte and non electrolyte solution topic. This research applied One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The samples on this research were first-year secondary students (X2 and X13classes) in SMAN 8 Bandar Lampung. The effectiveness of SiMaYang type II learning model was measured by the enhancement of metacognition ability, science process skills, students activity, and assessment of teachers ability. The practicality of SiMaYang type II learning model was measured by the implementation of the lesson plan and students responses. The results showed that the effectiveness of SiMaYang type II were categorized on high, and the the practicality of this learning model had a very high criteria.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan keefektivan dan kepraktisan model pembelajaran SiMaYang tipe II untuk meningkatkan kemampuan metakognisi dan keterampilan proses sains pada materi larutan elektrolit dan non elektrolit. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan One Group Pretest-Posttest Desain. Sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas sepuluh (kelas X2 dan X13) SMAN 8 Bandar Lampung. Keefektivan model pembelajaran SiMaYang tipe II diukur berdasarkan peningkatkan kemampuan metakognisi, keterampilan proses sains, aktivitas siswa dan penilaian kemampuan guru. Kepraktisan model pembelajaran SiMaYang Tipe II diukur berdasarkan keterlaksanaan RPP dan respon siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa keefektivan Model SiMaYang tipe II berkategori tinggi, dan kepraktisan dalam pembelajaran ini memiliki kriteria yang sangat tinggi.Kata kunci: keefektivan, kepraktisan, metakognisi, proses sains, SiMaYang tipe II

Abstract

The research was aimed to describe the practicality, effectiveness and effect size of discovery learning to improve students mental model and concept mastery on electrolyte and non electrolyte solution topic. This research has been done at SMA N 16 Bandar Lampung for 2016/2017 academic year. The research one group pretest-posttest design by using cluster random sampling and obtained class X.7 as sample of 330 students. The data were analyzed descriptively. Practicality was determined from implementation of RPP and student response. Effectiveness was determined from teacher's ability, student activities, improvement mental model and students concept mastery. The results of this research showed that the practicality and effectiveness of discovery learning had very high criteria and had large effect size. Based on it, the conclution that discovery learning was practical, effective, and had large effect to improve mental model and students concept mastery.Penelitian dengan tujuan mendeskripsikan kepraktisan, keefektifan, dan ukuran pengaruh pembelajaran discovery learning dalam meningkatkan model mental dan penguasaan konsep siswa pada materi larutan elektrolit dan non elektrolit. Penelitian ini dilakukan di SMAN 16 Bandar Lampung Tahun Ajaran 2016/2017. Penelitian one group pretest-posttest design dengan teknik cluster random sampling dan diperoleh kelas X.7 sebagai sampel populasi 330 siswa. Data dianalisis secara deskriptif. Kepraktisan ditentukan dari keterlaksanaan RPP dan respon siswa. Keefektifan ditentukan dari kemampuan guru, aktivitas siswa, peningkatan model mental dan penguasaan konsep siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan pembelajaran discovery learning memiliki kepraktisan dan keefektifan dengan kriteria sangat tinggi dan ukuran pengaruh yang besar. Kesimpulan penelitian ini yaitu pembelajaran discovery learning praktis, efektif, dan memiliki pengaruh yang besar dalam meningkatkan model mental dan penguasaan konsep siswa.Kata Kunci: discovery learning, model mental, penguasaan konsep.
