Abstract

This research has been conducted to obtain the feasibility or validity of learning model based on multiple representations that has been developed. The development of this model is done to enhance learning model SiMaYang, to be applied to high school students by integrating scientific approach into the model SiMaYang, hereinafter called SiMaYang type 2. The study was conducted through field surveys in advance to obtain a picture of the learning needs of the chemical, further will be designed the model and the learning device. The results of the development of model of learning and teaching tools were tested by experts to obtain the validity/feasibility of the developed model. Test of experts were conducted by 5 people relevant experts. The results of the research showed that (1) SiMaYang learning model of type 2 is a high school chemistry teaching model based on multiple representations that have characteristics consistent with the foundation of constructivism learning theory, the theory of information processing, and dual coding theory. The purpose of this model is to teach abstract concepts, and it is associated with a macro phenomenon, sub-micro, and symbolic, and teaches skills in building a mental model to optimize the ability of imagination. Phases of the SiMaYang learning model has a characteristic of collaborative, cooperative, and imaginative. (2) The validity/feasibility of SiMaYang learning model of type 2 was high, where the results of the expert appraisal indicates that the content validity and construct validity of the model SiMaYangtype 2 has a high category.

Abstract

This study was conducted to determine the effectiveness of multiple representation-based learning (MRL) model compared to discovery learning (DL) model and problem based learning (PBL) model in terms of students’ initial abilities. The factorial design was used in this study. The selection of samples in this study was done through a random sampling technique. Three X classes of the same school was chosen. The three classes applied different learning model. The first class employed the MRL, the second class used the DL model, and the last class adopted the PBL model. Overall, the number of samples involved in the study was 117 students. The results of the study showed that the conceptual understanding of students learning using MRL was significantly different from students learning to use problem-based learning with significant differences in N-gain was 0.0004, but not significantly different from students using discovery learning. This finding showed that MRL is the most effective model for increasing the conceptual understanding of students with “low” and “moderate” initial ability compared to PBL and DL.

Abstract

Several studies have shown that mental models can affect a student's ability to perform reasoning on external representation faced. Student mental models are generally used to thinking in order to solve the problem. This study aims to look at the characteristics of mental models beginning of students in understand the concept of atomic structure. Samples were taken at random from the students of Department of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, class of 2012 with the grouping based on students' prior knowledge. The number of samples involved as many as 72 people consisting of students with the prior knowledge of high, medium, and low. Diagnostic tests are used to see the essays shaped the emergence of mental models.  The results showed that for all groups of prior knowledge, mental models beginning of students in understand the concept of atomic structure is still dominated by verbal mental model with the category of "very bad" and "bad" or the characteristics of mental model "formless/not clear" and mental model "intermediates_1." These results imply that the mental models of students can be used as a reference in setting learning to help students in solving problems related to the three levels of chemical phenomenon. To build a mental models of students towards a better, should be designed study involving interconnected between the third-levels of chemical phenomenon (macro, sub-micro, and symbolic).

Abstract

The pre-experimental research with One Group Pretest-Posttest Design was aimed to describe the practicality and effectiveness of SiMaYang Type II learning in growing mental models and concept mastery of students in acid base topic. The research was conducted at the 11th grade of IPA1, IPA2 and IPA3 SMA Gajah Mada Bandar Lampung as replication classes. The data analysis was done descriptively. The results showed that the implementation of SiMaYang Type II learning have high practicality and effectiveness in growing mental models and concept mastery of students in acid base topic. Mental models of three replication classes have the criteria of "very bad, "bad," and "moderate" originally and they was increase to "moderate," "good," and "very good. The n-Gain average of mental models and concept mastery of three replication classes obtained the "high" and "moderate" achievement.Penelitian pre-eksperimen dengan One Group Pretest-Posttest Design telah dilakukan dengan tujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kepraktisan dan keefektivan pembelajaran SiMaYang Tipe II dalam menumbuhkan model mental dan peng-uasaan konsep asam basa siswa. Penelitian dilakukan pada kelas XI IPA1, XI IPA2, dan XI IPA3 SMA Gajah Mada Bandar Lampung sebagai kelas replikasi. Analisis data dilakukan secara deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan pembelajaran SiMaYang Tipe II memiliki kepraktisan dan keefektivan yang tinggi dalam menumbuhkan model mental dan penguasaan konsep asam basa siswa. Model mental ketiga kelas replikasi yang semula berkriteria sangat buruk, buruk, dan sedang mengalami peningkatan menjadi sedang, baik, dan sangat baik. Rata-rata n-Gainmodel mental dan penguasaan konsep ketiga kelas replikasi memperoleh pencapaian tinggi dan sedang.Kata kunci: asam basa, kepraktisan, keefektivan, SiMaYang Tipe II.

Abstract

The research was aimed to describe the effect of scaffolding strategy in SiMaYang learning on electrolyte and non-electrolyte solution topics. This research used pretest-posttest control group design with cluster random sampling technique, and it was obtained X MIA 3 as experimental class and X MIA 4 as control class in SMAN 5 Bandar Lampung. The effect of scaffolding strategy was measured by implementation of SiMaYang learning model, implementation of scaffolding, and students science process skills used difference of two average test and effect size test. The result of research showed that scaffolding strategy in SiMaYang learning has a very big effect in improving students science process skills. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan pengaruh strategi scaffolding dalam model pembelajaran SiMaYang pada materi larutan elektrolit dan non-elektrolit. Penelitian ini menggunakan pretest-posttest control group design dengan teknik pengambilan sampel cluster random sampling, sehingga diperoleh sampel kelas X MIA 3 sebagai kelas eksperimen dan X MIA 4 sebagai kelas kontrol di SMAN 5 Bandar Lampung. Pengaruh strategi scaffolding ditentukan berdasarkan keterlaksanaan model pembelajaran SiMaYang, keterlaksanaan scaffolding, dan keterampilan proses sains siswa menggunakan uji perbedaan dua rata-rata dan uji ukuran pengaruh. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa strategi scaffolding pada pembelajaran SiMaYang berpengaruh sangat besar terhadap peningkatan keterampilan proses sains siswa.Kata kunci: keterampilan proses sains, larutan elektrolit dan non elektrolit, SiMaYang, strategi scaffolding

Abstract

The aim of this study was to describe the effect of socioscientific issues to improve Students’s Chemical Literacy Skills and Learning Motivation in electrolyte and non-electrolyte solution topic. This research used quasi experiment method with pretest-posttest control group design. Population in this research was all students of X MIA one of senior high school in Lampung Tengah.  The sample was taken by cluster random sampling technique and obtained class X MIA 3 as control class and X MIA 1 as experiment class. The influence of learning using socioscientific issues was analyzed using t-test on n-Gain and effect size test towards student’s chemical literacy skills and learning motivation.The results showed that the average value of n-Gain of students’s chemical literacy skills criteria in experiment class was‘average’ with effect size 0,837 on chemical literacy skills with criteria was ‘large’ and average value of n-Gain of students’s learning motivation 0,756 on learning motivation  with criteria was ‘large’.  Tujuan dalam penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan pengaruh penggunaan isu sosiosaintifik untuk meningkatkan kemampuan literasi kimia dan motivasi belajar siswa pada materi larutan elektrolit dan non-elektrolit.  Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuasi eksperimen dengan pretest-posttest control group design.  Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas X MIA di salah satu SMA di Lampung Tengah.  Pengambilan sampel dilakukan dengan cluster random sampling dan diperoleh kelas X MIA 3 sebagai kelas kontrol dan X MIA 1 sebagai kelas eksperimen.  Pengaruh pembelajaran menggunakan isu sosiosaintifik dianalisis menggunakan uji t-test dan uji effect size terhadap kemampuan literasi kimia dan motivasi belajar siswa.  Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa rata-rata nilai n-Gain kemampuan literasi kimia berkriteria ‘sedang’ dengan effect size sebesar  0,837 dengan kriteria effect size ‘besar’ dan bahwa rata-rata nilai n-Gain motivasi belajar siswa 0,756 pada motivasi belajar dengan kriteria effect size ‘besar’. Kata kunci: literasi kimia, isu sosiosaintifik, motivasi

Abstract

The aims of this research were to describe the effectiveness and practicality of SiMaYang Type II learning model in improving metacognition ability and critical thinking skills on topic of electrolyte and non-electrolyte solutions. One group pretest-posttest design was used in this research. The samples on this research were first year secondary students (X6 and X8classes) in SMAN 8 Bandar Lampung that was obtained by cluster random sampling. This study used descriptive analysis. The results showed that the effectiveness of SiMaYang type II were on high criteria and its practicality were on very high criteria in improving metacognition ability and critical thinking skills.Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah mendeskripsikan keefektivan dan kepraktisan SiMaYang Tipe II dalam meningkatkan kemampuan metakognisi dan keterampilan berpikir kritis pada materi larutan elektrolit dan non-elektrolit. Desain One Group Pretest-Posttest digunakan pada penelitian ini. Sampel penelitian ini adalah siswa tahun pertama (kelas X6 dan X8) SMAN 8 Bandar Lampung dengan teknik pengambilan sampel cluster random sampling. Analisis yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu analisis deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan efektivitas model SiMaYang Tipe II dengan kriteria tinggi dan kepraktisan berkriteria sangat tinggi untuk meningkatkan kemampuan metakognisi dan keterampilan berpikir kritis.Kata kunci: berpikir kritis, efektivitas, metakognisi, kepraktisan, SiMaYang Tipe II

Abstract

This study aimed to describe guided-inquiry based students worksheet affects the enhancement of identifying variables and determining procedures skills. Samples in this study were students of class X MIPA 8 as an experimental class (use guided-inquiry based students worksheet) and X MIPA 2 as a control class (use conventional students worksheet). The research method used quasi experimental with non equivalent pretest-posttest control group design. The result showed that averagen-gain for experimental class is higher than control class. It confirmed that the guided inquiry based students worksheetaffects the enhancement of students identifying variables and determining procedures skills.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan pengaruh LKS berbasis inkuiri terbimbing terhadap peningkatan keterampilan mengidentifikasi variabel dan menentukan langkah. Sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas X MIPA 8 sebagai kelas eksperimen (menggunakan LKS berbasis inkuiri terbimbing) dan siswa kelas X MIPA 2 sebagai kelas kontrol (menggunakan LKS konvensional). Metode dalam penelitian ini menggunakan kuasi eksperimental dengan desain non ekuivalen pretes-postes kontrol grup. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa rata-rata n-gain kelas eksperimen lebih tinggi dibandingkan kelas kontrol. Artinya, penggunaan LKS berbasis inkuiri terbimbing berpengaruh terhadap peningkatan keterampilan siswa dalam mengidentifikasi variabel dan menentukan langkah kerja.Kata kunci: inkuiri terbimbing, larutan elektrolit dan non-elektrolit, LKS, menentukan langkah kerja, mengidentifikasi variabel

Abstract

This research was aimed to describes the relation between self efficacy and ability literacy chemical in acid base learning using the SiMaYang Model. All of students in the 11th grade of XI IPA 5 at senior high school in Bandarlampung as a sample which amounted to 32 students and selected using cluster random sampling. The research method used was survey method with correlation research design. The result of this research showed that there were correlation between self efficacy and ability literacy chemical in acid base learning using the SiMaYang Model was medium, positive and significant.  Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendiskripsikan  hubungan self-efficacy terhadap kemampuan literasi kimia siswa pada materi asam basa menggunakan model pembelajaran SiMaYang. Semua siswa di kelas XI IPA 5 pada SMA di Bandarlampung sebagai sampel yang terdiri dari 32 siswa dan dipilih menggunakan cluster random sampling. Metode penelitian yang digunakan yaitu metode survey dengan desain penelitian korelasi. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa hubungan antara self efficacy dan kemampuan literasi kimia dalam pembelajaran asam basa menggunakan model SiMaYang yang tergolong sedang, positif, dan signifikan. Kata Kunci: kemampuan literasi kimia, self efficacy,  SiMaYang

Abstract

This research was aimed to describe an effect of scaffolding strategy in SiMaYang learning model to improving self-efficacy and student's concept mastery on oxidation-reduction reaction topic. This research was conducted in SMA N 10 Bandarlampung used a quasi-experiment method with pretest-posttest control group design. The sample of the research was X MIA 1 as the control class and X MIA 2 as the experimental class by purposive sampling. Effect of scaffolding strategy to improving self-efficacy and student's concept mastery was measured by t test of n-gain and effect size test. The result showed that learning used SiMaYang learning model with scaffolding strategy can improve self-efficacy and student's concept mastery on oxidation-reduction reaction topic.Tujuan dari Penelitian ini adalah mendeskripsikan pengaruh strategi scaffolding dalam model pembelajaran SiMaYang untuk meningkatkan efikasi diri dan penguasaan konsep siswa pada materi reaksi redoks. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di SMA Negeri 10 Bandarlampung menggunakan metode kuasi eksperimen dengan pretest-posttest control group design. Sampel pada penelitian ini adalah kelas X MIA I sebagai kelas kontrol dan kelas X MIA II sebagai kelas eksperimen yang diperoleh dengan menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Besarnya pengaruh strategi scaffolding terhadap peningkatan efikasi diri dan penguasaan konsep siswa ditentukan dengan uji t n-gain dan uji effect size. Hasil perhitungan menunjukkan bahwa pembelajaran menggunakan model SiMaYang dengan strategi scaffolding dapat meningkatkan efikasi diri dan penguasaan konsep siswa pada materi reaksi redoks.Kata kunci: efikasi diri, model pembelajaran SiMaYang, penguasaan konsep, scaffolding
