Abstract

The Advanced Mathematical Thinking (AMT) ability is one of the prioritized mathematical abilities needed to be developed in learning mathematics during tertiary education. The present study sought to test the effectiveness of hybrid learning in improving students' advanced mathematical thinking. The research used a quasi-experimental design with a non-equivalent control group design. The subject of this study was students of a mathematics education study program at a university in Bandung who attended lecture for the multi-variable in a calculus course. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling. Of the many variable calculus classes consisting of 2 classes, one class was chosen as the experiment group and the other class as the control group. The sample consists of 40 people for each group. Data analysis used the MANOVA test with normality and homogeneity tests as a prerequisite test. The results showed a difference in AMT's significance between the hybrid learning and conventional groups, where hybrid learning had a higher AMT. Other than that, there is a difference in the significance of AMT between the high motivation group and the low motivation group, where high motivation has a higher AMT, and there is an interaction of learning models and motivational factors to increase AMT. Doi: 10.28991/esj-2021-01288 Full Text: PDF

Abstract

Abstract AMT ability is one of the skills that is a priority to be developed in learning mathematics in universities. This research aims to test the effect of hybrid learning and enjoyment learning in improving Advance Mathematical Thinking of prospective teacher students moderated by learning style. This research is a quantitative research that aims to examine the effect of the independent variable on the dependent variable. The sample in this study is conducted by purposive sampling based on certain criteria. The research data is obtained by distributing questionnaires to the mathematics education program student at University X in Bandung City. The data collected is analyzed by path analysis assisted by Smart PLS application. Smart PLS analysis in this study is carried out in 2 stages which are the analysis of the outer model and the inner model. Analysis of the inner model is aimed at (1) testing the validity and reliability of the instrument and (2) performing the r-square test to determine the percentage of influence. The test results show that learning enjoyment and hybrid learning have a significant positive effect on advanced mathematics learning. The learning styles in this study have not been able to moderate the relationship between hybrid learning and enjoy learning on Advance Mathematical Thinking. Hybrid learning can be used as an alternative or learning solution in improving advanced mathematical learning.Keywords: hybrid learning, Advance Mathematical Thinking, enjoyment learning, prospective teacher students, learning style Abstrak Kemampuan AMT merupakan salah satu kemampuan matematis yang menjadi prioritas untuk dikembangkan dalam pembelajaran matematika di perguruan tinggi. Penelitian Ini Bertujuan Untuk Menguji Pengaruh Hybrid Learning dan Enjoyment Learning Dalam Meningkatkan Berpikir Advance Mathematical Thinking of Prospective Teacher Students dimoderasi Gaya Belajar. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuantitatif yang bertjuan untuk menguji pengaruh variabel independen terhadap variabel dependen. Sample dalam penelitian ini dilakukan dengan purposive sampling dengan berdasarkan beberapa kriteria tertentu. Data penelitian diperoleh dengan menyebar quesioner pada mahasiswa program studi Pendidikan Matematika di Universitas X di Kota Bandung. Data yang terkumpul dianalisa dengan analisis path berbantuan aplikasi Smart PLS. Analisis smart PLS pada penelitian ini dilakukan dengan 2 tahapan yaitu analisa outer model dan inner model. Analisa inner model untuk 1) menguji validitas dan reliabilitas instrumen serta 2) melakukan uji r square untuk mengetahui presentase pengaruh. Hasil pengujian hipotesis menunjukkan bahwa enjoyment learning dan Hybrid learning berpengaruh secara positif signifikan terhadap Advance mathematic learning. Adapun, gaya belajar dalam penelitianini belum mampu memoderasi hubungan hybrid learning dan enjoyment learning terhadap Advance Mathematic Thinking. Hybrid learning dapat dapat dijadikan alternatif atau solusi pembelajaran dalam meningkatkan Advance Mathematic Learning. Abstract

Based on literature review Three categories of teachers are: good, very good, and excellent which are viewed from aspects of beliefs, attitude, depth of pedagogical and didactic aspects, and teacher reflection in the learning process has been obtained in previous studies. Various external aspects are considered to affect teacher professionalism in learning about mathematical problem solving. These aspects need to be studied to maximize the teacher professionalism. This study will examine these external aspects, ranging from teaching experience, educational background, and experience in participating in training to improve teacher competencies. This type of qualitative research with survey methods was chosen as a research method. Three teachers from three junior high schools with different clusters were selected as research subjects. Each teacher is given short questions related to this. The results obtained are the experiences of the trainings that teachers follow in increasing their competence and teacher's educational background have more significant influence on teacher professionalism compared to the experience or length of teacher teaching.

Abstract

Mathematics communication is an important cognitive ability, especially students who live in area which geographically located in agriculture zone. This research aims to see and analyze mathematics communication of students in senior high school increased with agriculture based mathematics learning. This research is quasi-experiment involve a school in zone with good agriculture potential. Result of this experiment showed that mathematics communication of students who have high and medium ability in mathematics learning increased through agriculture based mathematics learning. But it was not have effect to students with low ability in mathematics learning.

Abstract

Kemampuan representasi matematis berkaitan dengan kemampuan pemecahan masalah. Representasi masalah yang sesuai adalah dasar untuk memahami masalah dan merencanakan solusinya. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui bagaimana kemampuan representasi matematis siswa berdasarkan tipe adversity quotient (AQ) dan self-efficacy (SE). Penelitian ini menggunakan metode studi kasus dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Subjek penelitiannya yaitu 5 siswa kelas XI IPA di Kota Bandung. Instrumen yang digunakan yaitu tes kemampuan representasi, angket AQ dan SE. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan teknik tes, angket, dan wawancara. Teknik analisis data dilakukan dengan tahapan reduksi, penyajian, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa siswa dengan AQ climber dan SE sedang mampu membuat gambar untuk memperjelas masalah, menyelesaikan masalah dengan ekspresi matematis, membuat model matematika, dan menuliskan langkah penyelesaian dengan kata-kata, siswa dengan AQ camper dan SE tinggi mampu membuat gambar untuk memperjelas masalah, menyelesaikan masalah dengan ekspresi matematis, membuat model matematika, dan menyusun cerita sesuai dengan representasi yang disajikan, siswa dengan AQ camper dan SE sedang dan siswa dengan AQ camper dan SE rendah mampu menyelesaikan masalah dengan ekspresi matematis dan membuat model matematika, dan siswa dengan AQ quitter dan SE rendah tidak mampu memenuhi semua indikator kemampuan representasi. Mathematical representation ability is related to problem solving ability. An appropriate problem representation is the basis for understanding the problem and planning its solution. This study aims to describe the mathematics representation ability based on adversity quotient (AQ) and self-efficacy (SE). The study uses a case study method with a qualitative approach. The research subjects were 5 students of class XI IPA in Bandung City. The instrument used were representation ability tests, AQ, and SE questionnaires. Data collection techniques using test, questionnaires, and interviews. Data analysis techniques using data reduction, data display, and drawing conclusions. The result showed that student with AQ Climber and moderate SE was able to make pictures to clarify problems, solve problems with mathematical expressions, make mathematical models, and write down steps to solve them with words, student with AQ camper and high SE was able to make pictures to clarify problems, solving problems with mathematical expressions, making mathematical models, and composing stories according to the representations presented, student with AQ camper and moderate SE and student with AQ camper and low SE was able to solve problems with mathematical expressions and make mathematical models, and student with AQ quitter and low SE was not able to meet all indicators of representational ability.

Abstract

Berpikir Kritis Siswa Ditinjau dari Gender dan Gaya Kognitif Field Dependent dan Field Independent Kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa memiliki kaitan erat dengan gaya kognitif yaitu bagaimana menyelesaikan suatu tugas, merancang prosedur, dan dapat memberikan solusi yang tepat dalam memecahkan masalah. Faktor yang mempengaruhi kemampuan berpikir kritis secara tidak langsung salah satunya adalah perbedaan gender. Sehingga, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memahami bagaimana siswa SMP menyelesaikan masalah matematika materi aljabar ditinjau dari gender dan berpikir kritis siswa dengan gaya kognitif field Independent (FI) dan field Dependent (FD). Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif dengan metode studi kasus. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa 1) Siswa perempuan bergaya kognitif FD dengan kemampuan berpikir kritis sedang dalam masalah aljabar lebih dominan dalam membangun keterampilan dasar daripada siswa laki – laki, 2) Siswa laki - laki bergaya kognitif FI dengan kemampuan berpikir kritis sedang dalam masalah aljabar dominan dalam membangun keterampilan dasar. Siswa perempuan dominan dalam memberikan penjelasan sederhana, serta 3) Siswa perempuan bergaya kognitif FI dengan kemampuan berpikir kritis tinggi dalam masalah aljabar dominan dalam memberikan penjelasan sederhana daripada siswa laki-laki.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat (PkM) di Yayasan Daarul Husna Parongpong ini bertujuan untuk menanamkan pendidikan karakter kepada anak yang meliputi kerja sama, toleransi, dan pantang menyerah menggunakan kartu edukatif dan teka-teki silang (TTS). Materi yang disampaikan bertema NKRI dan Jawa Barat. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan dalam tiga tahapan, yaitu persiapan, pelaksanaan, dan evaluasi. Peserta dari kegiatan ini adalah 50 siswa sekolah dasar yang berada di Yayasan Daarul Husna Parongpong. Selama proses diskusi berlangsung, banyak anak yang mendapatkan informasi baru karena anak-anak saling bekerja sama untuk bertukar informasi. Anak-anak juga saling menghargai pendapat satu sama lain ketika terjadi perselisihan pendapat ketika mengerjakan TTS. Selain itu, anak-anak semangat berdiskusi untuk menentukan jawaban mana yang paling tepat untuk menjawab pertanyaan kuis karena anak-anak termotivasi untuk menjadi pemenang.

Abstract

Two stay two stray merupakan suatu model pembelajaran yang mengoptimalkan kegiatan penyelesaian masalah melalui kegiatan diskusi. Dengan menggunakan strategi time token kegiatan diskusi menjadi lebih aktif. Model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe two stay two stray berpusat pada siswa sedangkan guru hanya sebagai fasilitator. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui (menganalisis) peningkatan kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran  Two Stay Two Stray dengan Time Token dan siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran dengan pendekatan saintifik. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain kuasi eksperimen dengan populasi siswa kelas XI SMA Negeri 1 Bandung semester ganjil tahun ajaran 2019/2020. Lalu dipilih sampel, yaitu kelas XI IPA 5 sebagai kelas kontrol dan XI IPA 6 sebagai kelas eksperimen. Data yang diperoleh merupakan hasil dari pretest, posttest, angket dan lembar observasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa peningkatan kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa yang memperoleh model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Two Stay Two Stray dengan Time Token lebih baik daripada siswa yang memperoleh model pembelajaran dengan pendekatan saintifik, serta respon siswa terhadap model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Two Stay Two Stray dengan Time Token baik.

Abstract

AbstrakSetiap siswa memiliki kemampuan pemecahan masalah yang berbeda beda dalam pembelajaran matematika, dan salah satu faktor yang mempengaruhinya adalah konsep diri. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa SMA yang ditinjau dari Self-Concept peserta didik kelas X di salah satu sekolah menengah atas di Kabupaten Lembang. Pendekatan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah pendekatan kualitatif dengan jenis penelitian deskriptif. Sumber data dalam penelitian ini adalah kelas X MIPA, kemudian dipilih tiga peserta didik sebagai subjek penelitian yang didasarkan pada hasil angket Self-Concept yaitu tinggi, sedang dan rendah. Selanjutnya subjek diberikan soal tes kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis pada materi perbandingan trigonometri pada segitiga siku siku dan kemudian dilakukan wawancara terhadap enam siswa untuk memperoleh hasil yang lebih mendalam. Sebelum dianalisis, dilakukan keabsahan data dengan triangulasi teknik, yaitu membandingkan antara hasil tes dan wawancara. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa peserta didik dengan kategori Self-Concept tinggi memiliki kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis yang tinggi, peserta dengan kategori Self-Concept sedang memiliki kemampuan pemecahan masalah yang sedang, sedangkan peserta didik dengan kategori Self-ConceptI  rendah memiliki kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis yang rendah Kata kunci: Kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis, Self-Concept   AbstractEach student has different problem-solving abilities in learning mathematics, and one of the factors that influence this is self-concept. This study aims to describe the mathematical problem solving abilities of high school students reviewed from the Self-Concept of class X students in one of the senior high schools in Lembang Regency. The approach used in this research is a qualitative approach with a descriptive research type. The data source in this study was class X MIPA 1, then three students were selected as research subjects based on the results of the Self-Concept Questionnaire, namely high, medium and low. Next, questions were given to test the ability to solve mathematical problems on trigonometry comparison material on right triangles and then conducted interviews with six students to obtain more in-depth results. Before being analyzed, the validity of the data was carried out by means of technical triangulation, namely comparing the results of tests and interviews. The results showed that students in the high Self-Concept category had high ability to solve mathematical problems, participants in the Medium Self-Concept category had medium  problem-solving skills, while students in the low Self-Concept category had low ability to solve mathematical problems. Keywords: mathematical problem solving abilities, Self-Concept
