Abstract

Abstract

Curriculum review is a long process. Typically, the people responsible for these activities are one or two people (coordinators) who are responsible for this and it can be burdensome. Authors propose a new computer-based method for mathematics curriculum review by advancing the use of Learning Designs Maps (LDMaps). The LDMaps have already been developed by authors to document expected mathematics teaching and learning experiences as expected by curriculum. The proposed method can disperse the process allowing the responsible coordinators to conduct the simple task of collating available LDMaps for the review. In this paper, an example of mathematics curriculum review in counting mathematics subjects classification entries is presented.

Abstract

The concept of Smart Farming has been adopted by utilizing microcontrollers, sensor devices, and actuators to regulate plant conditions. However, the communication methods with farmers, such as text messaging applications, are considered ineffective due to their limited features, and farmers cannot control monitoring devices. To address this issue, we developed a web-view-based application named Prospherine Smart Farming using PHP, Java, and MongoDB. The Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodology was employed to ensure the proper functioning of the application. This application has comprehensive features that enable farmers to control monitoring devices, even remotely, and provide continuous information about farming conditions. Testing was conducted to ensure that all features functioned properly, and feedback was obtained from farmers. The research results indicate that using the Prospherine Smart Farming Application positively impacts farming activities. With this application, farmers can monitor their farming conditions in real-time and take necessary actions to enhance crop yields. The Prospherine Smart Farming Application can potentially improve agricultural efficiency and assist farmers in tackling challenges in the digital era.

Abstract

The evolving refrigeration and air conditioning engineering industry demands a workforce proficient in both technical and generic skills. Traditional competency assessment models often prioritize technical skills, leaving a gap in evaluating essential generic skills. This research introduces the Generic Skill Assessment (GSA) model, designed to holistically assess vocational school students in the refrigeration and air conditioning sector. Utilizing a mixed-methods approach, the study developed a GSA instrument validated by experts, achieving a reliability score of 0.75. Key generic skills identified include communication, teamwork, adaptability, and critical and creative thinking. The model effectively integrates these skills with technical competencies through comprehensive assessment indicators. Despite challenges such as limited academic studies, low teacher awareness of generic skills, and inadequate curriculum evaluation, the GSA model demonstrates significant positive impacts. With 83% of students well-prepared for the industry, the GSA model offers a balanced and robust framework for evaluating and enhancing students' readiness for the workforce.
