Abstract

Kata kunci : nilai ekonomi, pemanfaatan, limbah, isu lingkungan, konsep 3R                      (Reuse, Recyle  dan Recovery)  Abstract             This paper aims to outline the economic value of the use of palm oil waste towards Zero Waste Production. One hectare of oil palm, annually produce 25 tonnes of fresh fruit bunches (FFB), whereas the oil and palm kernel only about 25%, so 19 tonnes of FFB would be a waste. With the developed environmental issues will require the use and control of industrial waste environmentally friendly palm oil in order to provide added value and reduce costs, which in turn provide benefits to various parties, both the plantations, factories, communities and the environment. The concept of 3R (Reuse, Recycle and Recovery) will encourage each waste generator to make the waste has economic value and reduces costs. Utilization of oil palm waste can reduce the production cost of electricity, charcoal, pulp raw materials, animal feed, and saves the cost of fertilizer. Keywords: economic value, utilization, waste, environmental issues, the concept                  of 3R (Reuse, Recycle and Recovery)

Abstract

Sago (Metroxylon sp.) is a tropical wet palm plant, which has a strong adaptation to grow on marginal lands. Sago is one of the potential food commodities as a source of carbohydrates owned by Indonesia. The objectives of this study were:  identify the factors that are the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of sago commodity development; and determine the strategy for sago commodity development. This research was conducted in the Districts of Bondoala, Besulutu, Sampara and Kapoiala, Konawe Regency. The respondents of this study were the relevant government agencies staf in Konawe Regency and in Southeast Sulawesi Province,  researchers from the Southeast Sulawesi AIAT and Development Agency and lecturers at the UHO Faculty of Agriculture, and collectors and inter-island traders. The analytical method used is SWOT-AHP (Analytical Hierarchy Process) analysis. The results of the study revealed that the strategy for developing sago commodities, which had the highest priority value or the most important ones, were the development of human resources for sago farmers and small and medium industries (IKM); strengthening coordination and synchronization of policies between institutions in the development of sago; policy on the expansion and protection of sago land; optimization of market share; diversification of sago products; increasing the competitiveness of processed sago products through the adoption of production technology; modernization of equipment and processing of sago to strengthen added value; and forming partnerships both market and capital. Keywords: development strategy; SWOT-AHP; sago

Abstract

This study aims to determine the benefits and feasibility of lowland rice farming in Konda District, Konawe Selatan Regency. The population in this study is all lowland rice farmers. The samples were determined by cluster random sampling with a total sample of 60 farmers. Data were collected by interview method, and data collected included: costs, production, and revenue of lowland rice farming. The results of the study show that the benefits of lowland rice farming are relatively small, and the value of revenue/cost (R/C), both the R/C of the explicit cost and the R/C of the total cost is greater than 1 (one), which means that lowland rice farming is feasible. Keywords: profit; feasibility; farming; paddy

Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and inferential statistics. The results of the study showed that the production factors of tilapia hatchery business in Konawe Regency which consisted of equipment value, number of broodstock, amount of feed, pond area, and number of workers had a significant effect on production. Tilapia hatchery business is in a condition of Increasing Return to Scale. Abstract

The aims of this study were: to describe farm rice cultivation with tapin and tabela systems practiced by subak and non-subak farmers; to find out the efficiency of farm rice cultivation with tapin and tabela systems on subak and non-subak farmers; to establish the relationship between socio-cultural subak and the efficiency of farm rice cultivation. The study was conducted from June to December 2016. Objects of the study were subak and non-subak farmers who adopted tapin and tabela systems. Data were collected using observation, interview, and study of literature. A total of 60 samples/respondents which were determined purposively and randomly. A descriptive statistical analysis and R/C ratio analysis were used to analyze data. Results of the study showed that: farm rice cultivation by subak farmers who adopted tapin and tabela system was different from that of non-subak farmers, particularly in social and religious aspects; the productivity and efficiency value of subak farmers was higher than that of non-subak farmers, with the subak farmers using tapin and tabela system gained a total of productivity value of Rp 20.741.945,-/hectare and those adopting tabela system reached Rp 20.493.410,-/hectare, and the efficiency value of tapin and tabela was 2.23 and 2.56 respectively. The productivity value of non-subak farmers was lower, with Rp 15.972.705,-/hectare and Rp 15.050.000,-/hectare gained by tapin system and tabela system respectively; it was found from a cross table analysis that the mean score of technology applied by subak farmers per respondent was higher than that of non-subak farmers, which was 12: 9.5 in the tapin system, and 11.27:9 in the tabela system. Based on the score of technology and R/C values, it could be established that there was no relationship between R/C both subak and non-subak.  Keywords: socio-cultural; subak; tapin, tabela; productivity; efficiency.
