Abstract

Fenomena tabrakan orang pada perjalanan kaki di pedestrian, termasuk zebra cross, menciptakan penundaan perjalanan dan berpengaruh pada inefisiensi ekonomi. Penelitian intervensi ini mencoba untuk menguji efektivitas dari penggunaan provincial norm, sebagai jenis norma yang menggunakan identitas spasial yang lebih dekat pada subjek, dalam membentuk perilaku menyeberang di sisi kiri zebra cross, yang diaplikasikan pada sekaligus dibandingkan dengan penggunaan injunctive norm biasa. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan dengan desain A-B-A time series analysis with two comparison group. Setelah melakukan pengukuran selama tiga pekan pada empat titik penyeberangan di Universitas Indonesia, dibuktikan bahwa penggunaan teknik intervensi memanfaatkan provincial norm secara signifikan berhasil membentuk perilaku menyeberang di sisi kiri zebra cross dibandingkan penggunaan injunctive norm biasa. Pembentukan perilaku menyeberang di sisi kiri ini juga memiliki pengaruh pada pengurangan terjadinya tabrakan orang di penyeberangan zebra cross.

Abstract

Word and text analysis has become an alternative method to examine social and psychological problems when other common methods could not access the internal workings of a participant’s psyche. This study shows that text analysis, as an alternative method, is capable to identify important psychological aspects contained in the song lyrics written by Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) with regard to his strategic role as a country and political leader. Three main aspects are identified: emotion, achievement, and harmony. The lyrics of 23 Indonesian songs written by SBY have been gathered for the purpose of analysis. Three studies were carried out to analyze the psychological aspects contained in SBY’s song lyrics. Firstly, the author applied algoritma kata (AK – word algorithm) to identify the degrees of valence and arousal in each song using the word count method. Secondly, the author applied analisis lirik keseluruhan (ALK – the whole lyric analysis) to assess the valence and arousal in every song by means of human judgment. Third, the author applied expert judgment (EJ) to analyze the dominant words that emerge in all song lyrics. This study shows that SBY’s song albums have consistently shown a positive valence and an increasing level of arousal from 2006 to 2014. In addition to that, EJ method shows that those dominant words represent SBY’s two most prominent psychological aspects: achievement and harmony.

Abstract

Time is an abstract concept that can be understood by making an analogy or a metaphor from a more concrete concept such as a spatial construct. Previous studies found that people from different cultures and languages constructed time movement differently. In addition, the use of specific time metaphor tends to activate different type of temporal reasoning. Time metaphor studies related to Indonesian’s culture and language are still limited. Although it is known that Indonesians tend to use different temporal reasoning compare to other countries, how their time metaphors may have impact on their temporal reasoning is still unknown. It is then important to further investigate the effect of time metaphor on time reasoning particularly in different cultural contexts and how it may have impact on people behavior. This paper will discuss some findings in the topic of time metaphor and temporal reasoning, including the influence of culture on time conception.

Abstract

Social intervention is a program designed to address social issues or achieve specific goals within society. Interventions are typically carried out by implementing the same program for all participant groups, known as a single intervention approach. However, this approach does not take into account the variations in participants' responses to the intervention. Consequently, participants may receive interventions that are not suitable for them, hence affecting the effectiveness of the intervention itself. Adaptive intervention is an approach needed to overcome such limitation. In adaptive intervention, the intervention is delivered in sequence and adjusted based on participants' responses to the initial intervention. Interventionist can modify the program through alternative interventions to tailor it to participants' needs. Compared to single intervention, adaptive intervention have the advantage of ensuring that participants only receive intervention that are suitable for their responses. However, adaptive interventions are still not widely implemented in Indonesia. This article aims to provide guidance on designing and evaluating adaptive intervention to enhance the effectiveness of social intervention in achieving desired goals. As an illustration, we use two interventions at each stage of adaptive intervention design.Intervensi sosial merupakan program yang dilakukan untuk menangani permasalahan sosial atau mencapai suatu tujuan tertentu dalam masyarakat. Intervensi umumnya dilakukan dengan memberikan program yang sama pada seluruh kelompok partisipan, atau dikenal dengan intervensi tunggal. Akan tetapi, pendekatan tersebut tidak mempertimbangkan variasi respons partisipan terhadap intervensi. Akibatnya, partisipan dapat menerima intervensi yang tidak sesuai dan pada akhirnya memengaruhi efektivitas intervensi. Intervensi adaptif adalah pendekatan yang dibutuhkan untuk mengatasi limitasi tersebut. Pada intervensi adaptif, intervensi diberikan secara berurutan dan disesuaikan berdasarkan respons partisipan terhadap intervensi awal. Intervensionis dapat memodifikasi program melalui intervensi alternatif untuk menyesuaikannya dengan kebutuhan partisipan. Dibandingkan dengan intervensi tunggal, intervensi adaptif memiliki keunggulan dalam memastikan partisipan hanya menerima intervensi yang sesuai dengan responsnya. Akan tetapi, intervensi adaptif masih belum banyak dilakukan di Indonesia. Artikel ini bertujuan memberi panduan dalam merancang dan mengevaluasi intervensi adaptif agar meningkatkan efektivitas intervensi sosial dalam mencapai tujuan yang diinginkan. Sebagai ilustrasi, kami menggunakan dua intervensi pada setiap tahap perancangan intervensi adaptif.

Abstract

In economic psychology, the principle of Dual Entitlement asserts that buyers are entitled to reference price and sellers are entitled to reference profit. Sellers are not permitted to increase their price solely to increase their profit because such action would be deemed unfair by buyers. But what if the cost of production or operation rises, putting the reference profit at risk? Buyers will perceive it as fair when the sellers’ decision to increase their price is aimed at protecting their reference profit. Previous studies on consumer perception of fairness and profit protection have focused on price increases as sellers’ strategy to protect their reference profit. What about an alternative strategy of reducing the amount of refunds given to buyers? Does price framing, consolidated versus disaggregated, affect consumer’s fairness perception? The current experimental utilized a 2 (profit protect strategy: price increase vs. refund reduction) X 2 (price information: consolidated vs. disaggregated price) between-subject design involving 207 participants (age range 18-23 years; Median age = 19; 81% female) to examine consumer perception of fairness towards the airline’s profit protection strategy. The result showed that both increasing prices and reducing refunds were considered equally fair by participants even after controlling their perception of Indonesian sellers’ pricing practices. However, when taking price information into consideration, the disaggregated price increase was considered more fair compared to the consolidated one. Interestingly, the case wasn’t the same with refund reduction as participants perceived disaggregated price disclosure less fair than consolidated one. Implications and suggestions for further research are discussed..Dalam psikologi ekonomi, prinsip Dual Entitlement menyatakan bahwa pembeli berhak atas harga patokan dan penjual berhak atas laba patokan. Penjual tidak diperkenankan untuk menaikkan harga semata-mata untuk menambah keuntungan karena tindakan tersebut akan dipersepsikan pembeli sebagai perilaku tidak adil. Lalu bagaimana jika ongkos produksi atau operasional penjual membengkak dan laba patokan terancam? Pembeli dapat memahami tindakan penjual menaikkan harga hanya jika hal tersebut bertujuan untuk melindungi laba patokan. Studi terdahulu mengenai persepsi keadilan pembeli terhadap strategi melindungi laba berfokus pada menaikkan harga sebagai strategi utama penjual. Bagaimana dengan alternatif strategi mengurangi jumlah refund yang dikembalikan pada pembeli? Selain itu, apakah cara penjual menyajikan informasi harga secara total ataupun rinci berpengaruh pada persepsi keadilan? Eksperimen ini menggunakan desain 2 (strategi melindung laba: menaikkan harga vs. penurunan refund) X 2 (penyajian informasi harga: total vs. harga rinci) dan melibatkan 207 partisipan (rentang usia 18-23 tahun; Median usia = 19; 81% perempuan) untuk menguji persepsi keadilan pembeli terhadap strategi melindungi laba yang dilakukan oleh maskapai penerbangan. Hasilnya, baik menaikkan harga maupun pengurangan refund dengan cara penyampaian informasi harga total maupun rinci dipersepsikan sama adilnya oleh partisipan, bahkan setelah mempertimbangkan persepsi terhadap pricing practice penjual di Indonesia yang tidak adil. Namun, ketika mempertimbangkan bagaimana informasi harga disajikan, menaikkan harga dengan informasi rinci dipersepsikan lebih adil dibandingkan secara total. Menariknya, pengurangan refund secara rinci justru dipersepsikan tidak lebih adil dibandingkan secara total. Implikasi dan saran studi lanjutan dibahas dalam penelitian ini.

Abstract

In Indonesia, online research is typically conducted using survey design. Data collection is conducted by distributing links to questionnaires through social media. Compared to surveys, online experimental research, especially ones that utilize mobile applications and require repeated measures, are very rarely implemented. This is thought to be caused by the lack of experience among researchers of psychology in creating and managing online research platforms or smartphone applications. This article aims to guide researchers on conducting online experiments with repeated measures, integrated with additional smartphone applications that are available for free. Di Indonesia penelitian secara daring umumnya dilakukan menggunakan desain survei. Pengumpulan datanya dilakukan dengan cara menyebarkan tautan kuesioner melalui media sosial. Dibandingkan survei, penelitian eksperimen daring, terlebih lagi yang menggunakan aplikasi ponsel dan membutuhkan pengukuran multipel sangat jarang dilakukan. Penyebabnya diduga karena peneliti psikologi umumnya belum terbiasa membuat serta mengelola platform penelitian daring atau aplikasi ponsel. Artikel ini bertujuan memberikan panduan melakukan eksperimen daring dengan pengukuran multipel (repeated measures) yang mengintegrasikan tambahan aplikasi ponsel yang bisa dilakukan secara gratis.
