Abstract

The increasing number of wireless communication applications has led to spectrum scarcity problems. On the other hand, the current system in allocating the spectrum frequency is inefficient. To mitigate this issue, a cognitive radio (CR) system is proposed. CR is a smart radio that is able to sense the environment, locate the spectrum holes, and adapt its transmission parameter to exploit the existing spectrum holes. This underlines the importance of the spectrum sensing module to enable the operation of the CR system. The objective of the spectrum sensing module is to achieve the best utility from the available spectrum frequency. CR system is implemented in the unlicensed secondary users allowed to rent the spectrum currently not used by primary users (PU). In this paper, energy-detection-based spectrum sensing is implemented on the GNU Radio platform. We first implement the power spectral density (PSD) estimation method based on the periodogram by exploiting the Embedded Python block facility on the GNU Radio. Next, we implement the spectrum sensing decision module in the GNU Radio, which compares the PSD estimate of the PU signals corrupted by noise with a threshold. The PU signal is simulated as a bandpass random process occupying a particular frequency band. The spectrum sensing decision module is developed to allow the computation of the probability of detection (PD) and the probability of false alarm (PFA), which is performed by exploiting the Embedded Python block. One indicator to evaluate the performance of the spectrum sensing module is the receiver operating characteristic curve based on the computed PD and PFA on the GNU Radio. We evaluate the performance of the spectrum sensing for different SNRs and thresholds. The result shows that the energy-detection-based spectrum sensing is able to locate the existence of the PU when the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) is sufficiently high.

Abstract

Automatic parking system is one of the parking management technologies that is widely used in various institutions today. An automatic parking system works by controlling a parking gate automatically to open and close the gate and record the vehicle’s license plate when entering and exiting using access control such as a smart card or radio frequency identification (RFID). One of the challenges in implementing an automatic parking system is traffic congestion during high traffic conditions. This challenge arises because the control unit in the automatic parking system takes a relatively long time to process and store images from the camera. This research examined several embedded system platforms as automatic parking system control units, including Raspberry Pi 3B, Raspberry Pi 4B, and Orange Pi Zero Plus. The evaluation is intended to find the best control unit platform based on several criteria, such as the execution time in capturing images, storing images, and the consumed power. From the evaluation results, it can be concluded that the Raspberry Pi 4B platform results in the fastest execution time for capturing and storing images, with an average time of 1,827.9 ms. Meanwhile, the Orange Pi Zero Plus platform achieves the lowest power consumption at 1.9 W. Based on the evaluation results, the Raspberry Pi 4B is recommended as the control unit if the automatic parking system requires a high-performance device. Otherwise, the Orange Pi Zero Plus is more recommended if the automatic parking system requires a low-power device.

Abstract

The fuel storage tanks in Plumpang, North Jakarta, owned by PT. Pertamina Tbk. initially had a land area of ​​153 hectares, with the use of 71 hectares as an operational area and the rest as a buffer zone. However, the buffer zone changed its function to a residential area as a place of residence and economic activities for the community which became increasingly dense accompanied by issues of land ownership status. The Plumpang fuel storage tanks fire incident that occurred several times which caused loss of life and property, is a reminder of the importance of a buffer zone that serves as a separating space between areas at risk of flammable material disasters and residential areas. This paper is the result of research on the analysis of the optimization of land requirements for the Plumpang fuel storage tanks buffer zone, by applying quantitative descriptive methods and spatial mapping of the area using Arcgis software, with reference to fuel depot safety standards. It requires the acquisition of 5.2 hectares of land as a buffer zone area in the form of a safe distance from the safety fence wall, construction of a ditch that functions as an accident pool, and re-arrangement of settlements directly adjacent to the buffer zone.

Abstract

Visi komputer telah diaplikasikan dalam berbagai sektor termasuk sektor industri. Aplikasi teknologi ini dapat menciptakan sistem manufaktur cerdas. Meskipun demikian, kurangnya alat praktikum yang memadai di perguruan tinggi dapat menyebabkan celah pengetahuan antara industri dan perguruan tinggi sebagai pencetak insinyur. Untuk menutup kekurangan tersebut, sebuah alat peraga deteksi objek di atas konveyor peraga berbasis Raspberry Pi 4 telah didesain di Laboratorium Schneider Electric Universitas Gadjah Mada. Meskipun demikian, alat peraga ini masih berdiri sendiri sehingga perlu dihubungkan ke sistem yang lebih besar seperti di industri. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk menjalin komunikasi antara Raspberry Pi 4 dengan PLC Schneider M221 sehingga dapat terjadi pengiriman data deteksi objek. Komunikasi ini diimplementasikan dengan protokol Modbus TCP. Dari pengujian, data deteksi berhasil ditransfer secara akurat ke memori dan mengubah kondisi relay output PLC M221 sehingga dapat menjadi dasar pengendalian lebih lanjut. Pengiriman data memiliki latensi sebesar 0,007249 detik dan 0,009185 detik untuk data dalam bit dan word.

Abstract

Peran arsitek profesional di Indonesia dan kebutuhan akan perubahan dalam pendidikan arsitektur telah menarik perhatian publik, pemerintah, arsitek, dan akademisi. Dalam menanggapi ini, diperlukan reformasi kebijakan pendidikan dan kurikulum yang lebih memahami proses pengajaran, persyaratan kurikulum, dan harapan profesional lulusan arsitektur. Rekrutmen, pelatihan, dan retensi dosen yang efektif menjadi krusial dalam mencapai kualitas pendidikan yang optimal. Kolaborasi antardosen dalam sekolah, berbagi pengalaman, dan komitmen terhadap peningkatan kualitas sekolah dan lulusan adalah penting. Dosen sebagai agen utama pembelajaran harus responsif terhadap perubahan kebijakan, kurikulum yang diperbarui, serta kebutuhan teknologi dan strategi pembelajaran yang relevan. Meski demikian, tantangan waktu dan tekanan eksternal sering kali menghambat upaya inovasi dalam pengajaran. Makalah ini mengusulkan strategi implementasi untuk meningkatkan kurikulum di sekolah arsitektur Indonesia, mengatasi hambatan dan meningkatkan efektivitas pengajaran dan pembelajaran.

Abstract

Program of Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat (PKM) is a Community Service Program aims to enhance public understanding of the role and significance of city landmarks, particularly the Tugu Pal Putih in Yogyakarta, within the context of urban spaces and cultural heritage. The range of activities were conducted using two methods: 1) offline distribution of cups and plates featuring landmark-related imagery and text, and 2) online dissemination through short videos on social media platforms such as Instagram and TikTok. The program also involved students as part of the team. The results showed: 1) an increased public awareness of the philosophical and historical values of Tugu Pal Putih, 2) a deeper understanding of the role of landmarks in the structure of urban spaces, and 3) a heightened awareness of the importance of preserving landmarks as part of world cultural heritage. The chosen media proved effective in reaching various segments of the public, both locally and regionally, and successfully encouraged greater community involvement in preserving and promoting city landmarks.
