Abstract

This study aims to determine the design and performance of Recognition Software for Distribution Station Components based on the Quick Response Code (QR-code) for the Flexible Manufacturing System Laboratory Work. This study uses a Research and Development (RD) method based on Modified Waterfall Model from the Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC). The development stages consist of Requirements Analysis and Definition, System and Software Design, Implementation and Unit Testing, Integration and System Testing, and Operation and Maintenance. The functional suitability test yielded excellent results, scoring 100%. Similarly, the compatibility test achieved a high score of 95%. The interaction capability test also performed well, scoring 85.56%. Additionally, the performance efficiency test showed impressive results, averaging 0.026 seconds per frame with an average of 7% CPU and 279 Mb memory resource utilization. The overall quality and performance of the D-Static application are very suitable for use as a Distributing Station components recognition application based on QR-Code for the Flexible Manufacturing System Laboratory Work.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the Virtual Processing Station as a simulation-based learning medium in the context of engineering education, based on student perceptions. Student perceptions of this medium were evaluated based on four main aspects: relevance, attention, interest, and usefulness. This study involved 30 students from the Department of Electrical Engineering Education at Yogyakarta State University who had used the Virtual Processing Station in laboratory practice sessions. Data were collected through a questionnaire with 17 statements using a Likert scale and supplemented with qualitative feedback from respondents. The results showed that this learning medium was very well received by students, with an average rating of 90.59%. The relevance aspect received the highest score (92.92%), followed by the interest aspect (90.83%) and usefulness (90.56%). Although the attention aspect received a slightly lower score (84.72%), the medium was still considered quite effective in capturing students' attention during the learning process. Positive comments from respondents emphasized the effectiveness of this medium in helping students understand both the practical and theoretical concepts of PLC-based industrial automation systems. The conclusion of this study indicates that the Virtual Processing Station has great potential in supporting more interactive and efficient engineering learning. However, there is still room for improvement in areas such as the user interface and visualization. Future research should focus on assessing the short-term and long-term impacts of this medium, particularly through larger sample sizes and objective assessments of student performance before and after using the Virtual Processing Station. This approach will provide deeper insights into how these medium influences learning outcomes and the development of practical skills in engineering education.

Abstract

This study aims to validate the analog input learning module of programmable logic controller (PLC). This module was developed using the OMRON CP1H PLC type which has analog input and analog output configurations. Scientific studies on the quality standards of learning modules are the basis for the development of this instrument. The content validity test was carried out by evaluation experts, while media and material experts evaluated the printed media and PLC material aspects. The results of the study showed an assessment of the media side with an average score of the format aspect of 14.5, the organizational aspect of 27.5, the shape and size of the letters of 13.0, and the consistency aspect of 29.5 which was categorized as "Very Eligible", while the average score of the attractiveness aspect was 22.0 and the space aspect of 12.5 was categorized as "Eligible". The assessment results from the material side with an average score of the self-instruction aspect of 57.0, the adaptive aspect of 6.5, and the user-friendly aspect of 14.0 which is categorized as "Very feasible", while the average score of the self-contained aspect of 13.5 and the stand-alone aspect of 6.5 is categorized as "Eligible". This module is considered feasible for learning PLC analog input with satisfactory assessment results.
