Abstract

The research of synthesis and characterization of edible films base material on gelatin which is isolated from chiken feet skin of broiler has been carried out. The gelatin of isolation product as raw material to produce edible film, through determination of optimum condition with the study variaty concentrations of gelatin (%, m/v) such as 10%, 18%, and 20%, and variety concentrations of glycerol plastisizer (% m/v) such as 1.0%; 1.8%; and 2.0% or the ratio of gelatin and glycerol was 10:1. The edible films which produced was analyzed its quality, to determine characteristic of  physico-chemical properties such as water content, solubility edible films in water and fuctional groups by infrared (FTIR). The gelatin without treatment (without mixture with glycerol) as control. The research showed that increasing glycerol (plastisizer) content can increase water content and solubility edible film in water, because glycerol properties which more easy to bond with water molecular so that good solubility in water. The analysis result of FTIR showed that  the adition of glycerol can move absorption, generally increasing on amide A, amide II and amide III. The analysis result of  LIBS showed that the intensity of atomic content such as C atom on wavelenght of 283, 426, and 723 nm, H atom on wavelenght of 434 and 484 nm, and O atom on wavelenght of 777 and 844 nm for edible films possess relative emission intensity higher then control. The edible films with gelatin and glycerol ratio 20:1.0 glycerol) indicate better properties (the best condition).

Abstract

This paper describes the adsorption of benzene by ledgestone which was activated with 4 M NaOH and coated with Fe2O3. The proportions of ledgestone and the coating used were of 10 : 1, 50 : 1, and 100 : 1. The aim of this study was to find out the ability of the stone in decreasing benzene concentration in solution. The study included the determination of surface acidity by acid-base titration, characterization of the ledgestone specific surface area by the method of blue methylene, determination of equilibration time of the stone in adsorbing benzene and determination of adsorption capacity of the stone referred to Freundlich isotherm adsorption by the application of gas chromatography. The result showed that the highest surface acidity of 0.2980 mmol/g was given by the ledgestone that was activated with 4 M NaOH and coated with Fe2O3 with the proportion of 10 : 1 and washed by aquadest. This ledgestone also showed the highest adsorption capacity which was 44.1286 ?g/g. The control ledgestone had specific surface area of 35.880 m2/g. The ledgestone that was activated with 4 M NaOH and coated with Fe2O3 resulted in higher adsorption capacity to benzene than the control ledgestone did.

Abstract

The activity in Subak Dangin Alas Desa Lodtunduh Ubud, to be aim for producing woof of bali cattlealternative by fermentation of mixture banana culm and rice straw which has been carried out from May toSeptember. The activity of subscribers of subak sustainability and continuesly, it is expected to impact onmaintenance of the subak in its village. In this activity, have been done survey, producing of cattle woofalternative, socialized, training, accompanying and giving woof to their cattles. In producing of woof of balicattle, it was done by cutting byproduct of banana culm and rice straw to be size 3-5 cm, then dried 1-2 daysfor reducing water content and then the fermentor (active microorganism and molasses) and mixture of riceand bran are distributed on its byproduct. The final step, it has been done fermentation for minimum 7 days. The activity result, subscribers of subak were very anthusiastic. Generally, participants have yet tounderstand detail procedure to make cattle woof alternative which is healthful, natural and preserve byfermentation, so that the application of technology is useful. The cattles may consume its fermentationproduct.

Abstract

Abstract

The Community Service was held to produce bamboo preserved by borax solution through using gravity technique toward the bamboo crafting raw material in Desa Pengotan, Bangli, therefore people are free from beetle attack. The preserved bamboo will improve quality. The activity was realized by several steps, namely surveys to fix the activity schedule, prepare materials, perform the demonstration plot, apply test, execute, and discuss. From the training in technological application, tuition, and evaluation conducted, the people is very enthusiastic in attending execution of this activity. They considered because the applied technology and yielded product are something new. Besides, the people do not find difficulties in accepting and executing this technology so that they can yield raw material bamboo which have been easily preserved.

Abstract

The development of hotels in Bali is increasing every year, this is directly proportional to the number of tourists and the waste generated. Hotel liquid waste has the potential to pollute the environment if there is no pre-disposal treatment. This study aims to obtain the best MMT/TiO2 composite that acts as an adsorbent and photocatalytic in reducing BOD (Biological Oxygen Demand) and COD (Chemical Oxygen Demand) levels of domestic wastewater. Composite synthesis was carried out by combining the top-down method, ball milling, and sonication. The ball milling method is used to produce montmorillonite, which has a smaller size, with a ball mass to sample mass ratio of 2:1 at a speed of 250 rpm. Variations in milling times of 0, 2, 4, and 6 hours were applied to determine the effect of milling time. The sonication method was used to obtain a smaller TiO2 particle size by exposing it to ultrasonic waves for 30 minutes. Calsination of the composite was carried out at a temperature of 400 °C. The results of composite characterization using the PSA (Particle Size Analyzer) showed that the composite did not meet the nanoparticle requirements because it had a particle size > 100 nm with a PI value > 0.5, which was still classified as polydispersity. NMT 6 has the best PI value of 0.65, which is then used to determine the optimum composite time to reduce BOD and COD levels. The optimum irradiation time obtained from composites in degrading waste is 90 minutes, which can reduce BOD levels by 78.53% and COD levels by 69%. The ability of composites NMT-6 to reduce BOD and COD levels is greater than that of montmorillonite and TiO2.
