Abstract

Maintaining environmental sustainability has become the main agenda in today’s world, and so as in hotel industry. In Bali, the number of hotels has been increasing significantly. This growth positively correlates with the use of resources to meet the demand of tourists and the environmental damage, on the other hand. Therefore, the issue of environmentally friendly operation is getting prominent in star rated hotels in Bali.The aim of this research was to find out the relationships between the processes and the benefits of environmental management in star rated hotels in Bali. The important aspects of environmental management was covered in this research, namely: 1) Process of environmental management that consists of energy management, water management, wastewater and solid waste management, chemical waste management, and purchasing products for hotel operations; and 2) The benefits of the environmental management that consists of financial benefits, employee satisfaction, guest satisfaction, and the advantages from promotion and publicity. This research collecting data from 126 star rated hotels around Bali, and the data was analyzed by using SEM (Structural Equation Modeling).The model of environmental management in this research shows that the process of environmental management significantly influence the benefits of environmental management.

Abstract

As a tourist destination, the name of Bali is popular having health and wellness tourism area, and in several times was known as one of the best spa destinations. The industry of health and wellness in Bali hasbeen become a part of tourism Department, and it need strategy for development in accordance to face theregional and world competition. This paper tried to describe the development strategy of Bali as a destination of health and Wellness tourism, which covers ten aspects to be need performed. The ten aspects are included; Find Yourself within the Global Marketplace, Position Yourself within the subregion, Identify Your Product and/or Service Offering , Identify Your Target, Prepare to Overcome Potential Barriers, Know What Your Competitors Are Doing, Differentiate Yourself from the Competition, Pursue Opportunities to Partner, Employ a Promotion Strategy.

Abstract

Aim of this studyis to identify environmental management issues at starred hotels in Bali. Respondent of thisstudy was 126 hotel manager. The data obtained through questionnaire which was analyzed by descriptivestatistic. The findings show that environmental management issues take an important place to the hotelmanagement and emerge as bases for hotel manager of starred hotels in Bali for carrrying out environmentalmanagement. Out of seven issues analyzed in this study, three of them emerge as important issues i.e. pressurefrom travel agent, pressure from customer and tourist, and cimate change. There is a significant differenceamong one, two, and three starred hotels and four and five starred hotels related to the significance of thoseissues. For manager of one, two, and three starred hotels, those issues are in “important” category, whereasfor four and five starred hotels, they are in “very important” categories which push them to do management ofenvironment.

Abstract

Research publications on management of places of worship (POW) as profitable and sustainable tourism objects are very rare in Indonesia. This research was inspired by the high number of tourists who visited the POW such as Pura Tanah Lot, Pura Ulundanu and Pura Uluwatu. These Pura (temples) are always in the top ten tourism objects in Bali, based on the number of tourists visiting. The high number of tourists visiting the POW have an impact on the welfare of the communities around the object, the environmental conditions, and the sustainability of the object. This article aims to determine the main factors which result in a profitable and sustainable POW. The respondents are the tourists who visit the POW of Tanah Lot Temple, Ulundanu Temple and Uluwatu Temple. This research used observations, interviews, questionnaires, and documentation to collect data and the descriptive statistics and factor analysis to analyze the data. The results of this research indicate that there are four (4) main factors that shape the success of the POW as profitable and sustainable tourism objects. The four main factors are: Factors of Amenities, which consist of: parking area, public market/shopping area for souvenirs, accommodation (hotel), restaurant, rest room/public toilet, ticket booth, ticket check point, information center and cleanliness of the POW. Factors of Attraction, which consist of: main attractions (uniqueness), panorama and natural beauty, cultural attractions, and traditional handicraft. Factors of Ancillary/tourism organization, which consists of: the organization of POW, professional tourism organization and money changer. The last factor is Factors of Accessibility which consists of: access to the POW, transportation traffic to the POW, location of POW, and the information of the POW as the tourism object. The recommendation from this research is if the POW want to be a profitable and sustainable tourism object, these four factors should be considered as strong recommendations to implement.Keyword: Profitable, sustainable, POW and tourism object.

Abstract

The outcomes of tourism in relation to the environmental sustainability is to preserve nature, environment, and resources availablity. Therefore, the obligation to maintain sustainability of environmental are become a top agenda for the managers of the star-rated hotels. In line with this spirit the high growth of hotel and tourist arrival in Bali correlated with the high of resources use to meet the demand of hotel guests, it will affect to the environment of hotel and the environmental of Bali. This study surveyed 126 star hotels in Bali (which consists of four (4) one-star hotels, ten (10) two-star hotels, thirty-nine (39) three-star hotels, twenty-four (24) four-star hotels, and forty-nine (49) five star hotels, using a questionnaire, where the alternative answer used the seven (7) options, and the data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, and structural equation modelling (SEM). This study successfully established a significant model that describes the relationship between environmental issues, environmental management processes, and the benefits of environmental management processes in star rated hotels in Bali. Also the results of this research demonstrate that: 1. There is a significant relationship between environmental issues to the process of environmental management at star rated hotels in Bali, and 2. There is a significant relationship between the process of environmental management to the the benefits of environmental management processes of the star rated hotels in Bali. Furthermore, the issues of environment is consists of: a. The issue of pressure from tour operator, b. The issue of customer and tourists pressure, and c. The issue of climate change. Then the environmental management process of hotel consists of: a. The wastewater management process, b. The solid waste management processes, and c. The chemical management processes, and finally the benefits of environmental management processes in star hotels are consists of: a. The sustaining the hospitality industry, b. The contribution to community development, and c. The satisfaction of the guests at star rated hotels in Bali. In accordance with these results is it suggested that every hotels are encouraged to do the process of environmental management because through this process, hotel will have a better relationship with the community, it had the preferred of tourists trend, it had became more prudent in term of resources use as a sustainable environmental efforts, and finally these can contribute to preserving the assets of the world for future generations.

Abstract

Research on start-up SMEs in tourism is still very rare. This study explains the effect of product quality and service quality on customer loyalty through customer satisfaction as an intervening variable on 'Kombuchi Brewing Co' as start up company for SMEs in tourism. Survey was conducted by using questionnaires to 120 respondents. Data were analyzed using Path Analysis and Sobel Test. The conclusion of this study stated that product quality and service quality had a positive and significant effect on customer satisfaction. On the other side, product quality and service quality had indirect and significant effect on loyalty through customer satisfaction.

Abstract

Millennials are a popular term to replace the term Generation Y (Gen Y). There are 2.5 billion millennials worldwide. They have contributed to business travel, and tend to spend most of their expenses on travel and vacation, driven by future travel trends. This research conducted to shape the success factor of the destination for millennial tourists, where the destination of Tanah Lot Temple is used as a case study, which is quantitative research, using survey design and purposive sampling. There are 160 millennial tourists as respondents (who are visited Tanah Lot Temple). The instrument used was a questionnaire with a Likert scale, and the data were analysed using descriptive statistics and factor analysis. This research has indicated that there are nine (9) main factors that shape the success factor of the destination for millennial tourists. The nine main factors are: Millennials interested in traditional costume guides and officers, believe in social media reviews, Millennial will add several/more days to enjoying the destination, The layout of the souvenir shop, buildings, temples, parks, and the others building should support sustainable practices. A millennial will invite parents and closest friends for visiting destination. The experience in destination worth it with or even more than spending, and meet the expectations. The facility of destination affected millennials during visiting. Millennials are interested in the culture at the destination. Traveling is a necessity for Millennial. This research model has an accuracy of 71% on the error rate of 5%.

Abstract

ABSTRAKKonflik bernuansa agama pernah terjadi di Indonesia. Salah satu penyebab konflik agama ini adalah pertentangan antara mayoritas - minoritas. Penduduk Bali yang mayoritas beragama Hindu justru toleran terhadap agama lain. Wujud toleransi ini terlihat di kawasan Puja Mandala Nusa Dua Bali yang memiliki 5 tempat ibadah saling berdampingan yaitu Masjid, Gereja Katolik, Vihara, Gereja Kristen, dan Pura. Masalah yang dikaji pada artikel ini adalah bagaimana bentuk toleransi di kawasan Puja Mandala Nusa Dua Bali? Penelitian ini dianalisis secara kualitatif dengan pendekatan kajian budaya. Bentuk toleransi di kawasan Puja Mandala yaitu beribadah bersama dalam satu kawasan dan kawasan Puja Mandala terbuka bagi semua agama. Toleransi yang terbina di kawasan Puja Mandala menjadi modal sosial dan modal spiritual dalam mempersatukan masyarakat Indonesia yang majemuk. Wujud toleransi di kawasan Puja Mandala menjadi contoh bagi masyarakat Indonesia maupun dunia untuk menghadirkan kedamaian di lingkungannya masing-masingKata kunci: Toleransi, Puja Mandala, Lima Tempat Ibadah, Tokoh Agama, Nusa Dua Bali.ABSTRACTReligious conflicts have occurred in Indonesia. One of the causes of this religion conflict was opposition to the majority-minority. The majority of Balinese people who are Hindus are tolerant of other religions. This form of tolerance can be seen in the Puja Mandala Nusa Dua area of Bali which has 5 places of worship side by side, namely mosques, Catholic churches, temples, Christian churches, and temples. The problem examined in this article is what is the form of tolerance in the Bali Puja Mandala Nusa Dua area? This study was analyzed qualitatively with a cultural study approach. The form of tolerance in the Puja Mandala area is to worship together in one area and the Puja Mandala area is open to all religions. The built-in tolerance in the Puja Mandala region becomes social capital and spiritual capital in uniting a pluralistic Indonesian society. Abstract

ABSTRACTEscalier Bali is one of the multi brand stores engaged in fashion, currently Escalier Bali continues to strive to increase consumer buying intentions. To be able to create high purchase intentions, Escalier Bali needs to pay attention to many things including word of mouth, brand image, and consumer purchase intentions towards a product. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of word of mouth on buying intent mediated by brand image on Escalier Bali consumers. This research is a survey research, surveying 90 respondents. Data collection by the method of observation, documentation, interviews and questionnaires. Data analysis technique used is Path analysis and Sobel Test. The results of this study found that (1) There is a positive and significant direct effect between word of mouth on brand image on Escalier Bali, (2) There is a positive and significant direct effect of word of mouth on buying intention on Escalier Bali, (3 ) There is a positive and significant direct effect of brand image on buying intentions on Escalier Bali, (4) There is a positive and significant indirect effect of brand image that is able to mediate word of mouth on buying intentions on Escalier Bali.Keywords: word of mouth, brand image, purchase intention.ABSTRAKEscalier Bali merupakan salah satu multi brand store yang bergerak di bidang fashion, saat ini Escalier Bali terus berusaha untuk meningkatkan niat beli konsumen. Untuk dapat menciptakan niat beli yang tinggi, Escalier Bali perlu memperhatikan banyak hal yang diantaranya adalah word of mouth, brand image, dan niat beli konsumen terhadap suatu produk. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh word of mouth terhadap niat beli yang dimediasi brand image pada konsumen Escalier Bali. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian survey, mensurvey 90 responden. Pengumpulan data dengan metode observasi, dokumentasi, wawancara dan kuisioner. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah analisis Path dan Uji Sobel. Hasil dari penelitian ini menemukan bahwa (1) Terdapat pengaruh langsung yang positif dan signifikan antara word of mouth terhadap brand image pada Escalier Bali, (2) Terdapat pengaruh langsung yang positif dan signifikan dari word of mouth terhadap niat beli pada Escalier Bali, (3) Terdapat pengaruh langsung yang positif dan signifikan dari brand image terhadap niat beli pada Escalier Bali, (4) Terdapat pengaruh tidak langsung yang positif dan signifikan dari brand image yang mampu memediasi word of mouth terhadap niat beli pada Escalier Bali.Kata kunci: word of mouth, brand image, niat beli.
