Abstract

This research paper investigates the impact of cultural tourism on the preservation of local traditions in Penglipuran Village, Bali, aiming to understand how tourism influences community practices and identity. The study employs a qualitative case study methodology, utilizing in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and document analysis to gather comprehensive data from local residents, community leaders, and tourism stakeholders. Key findings reveal that while cultural tourism has generated economic benefits and increased awareness of local heritage, it has also led to significant alterations in traditional practices, including the commercialization of sacred ceremonies and changes in architectural styles. The research identifies both supporting factors, such as community engagement in tourism management, and hindering factors, such as the risk of cultural dilution. Notably, the study emphasizes the importance of community perspectives in shaping sustainable tourism strategies that balance economic growth with cultural preservation. The novelty of this research lies in its focused examination of a specific village context, highlighting the unique dynamics between cultural tourism and local traditions while providing actionable recommendations for enhancing community involvement in heritage preservation. This work contributes to the broader discourse on sustainable tourism by offering insights into effective practices that can be adopted by other communities facing similar challenges.

Abstract

Taxes are the government's primary tool for collecting revenue, but their implementation presents challenges such as deadweight loss, market shrinkage, and impacts on welfare and economic efficiency. Appropriate tax policy is needed to optimize state revenue while maintaining market balance and public welfare. The purpose of this study is to deeply analyze how tax policy affects market dynamics and economic welfare, both on the producer, consumer, and government sides. This research uses a qualitative literature review approach to analyze the impact of tax policy on market dynamics and economic welfare. Data was gathered through documentation from academic sources such as Google Scholar, PubMed, and ScienceDirect, focusing on publications from the last five years. The data was analyzed in three stages: reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing, to provide a comprehensive, evidence-based understanding and policy recommendations. The study finds that tax policy implementation often results in deadweight loss, reflected in the decrease in total surplus for both producers and consumers. Taxes on elastic goods and services tend to severely impact welfare, highlighting the need for more careful policy design. High tax rates can shrink the market size, ultimately reducing government revenue. Policymakers must balance elasticity levels between producers, consumers, and tax rates to optimize both economic welfare and state revenue. To improve effectiveness, concrete policies are needed, such as progressive tax rates, regular monitoring of tax impacts, and incentives for certain sectors.

Abstract

In the era of educational globalization, the preservation of mother tongues has become a critical concern for educators, linguists, and policymakers. The dominance of global languages such as English in educational curricula and academic discourse often leads to the marginalization of indigenous and minority languages. This study aims to explore the challenges and opportunities associated with preserving mother tongues within globalized educational frameworks. It seeks to highlight the implications of language loss on cultural identity, intergenerational communication, and linguistic diversity. The research employs a qualitative descriptive method, utilizing literature review, case studies, and interviews with educators and language activists from multilingual communities. The analysis reveals that while globalization facilitates access to international knowledge and collaboration, it also pressures educational institutions to prioritize global languages, often at the expense of local linguistic heritage. Case studies from regions such as Southeast Asia, Sub-Saharan Africa, and Latin America demonstrate how communities are attempting to integrate mother tongues into formal education through bilingual or multilingual education models. Interviews indicate that successful preservation efforts often depend on community involvement, governmental support, and curriculum integration that values both global and local knowledge systems. The study concludes that preserving mother tongues in education is not only a matter of linguistic justice but also of cultural sustainability. It emphasizes the need for inclusive language policies that balance global communication demands with the rights of communities to maintain their linguistic identities. Educational institutions must embrace multilingualism as an asset rather than a hindrance to progress. Further research is recommended to develop scalable models of mother-tongue-based multilingual education that can be adapted across diverse educational settings.
