Abstract

The local chicken East Kalimantan (Nunukan chicken crossbreed) is one of the chickens crossing from Nunukan chicken and local chicken of East Kalimantan as one of genetic resources of genuine chicken from Borneo which has the potential to be a chicken breeding in Indonesia. This chicken is a native chicken Indonesia that has a different phenotypic diversity of other local chickens. The aim at the study was to compare and study chicken differentiation variables based on the size of rooster and hen’s local chickens of based on discriminant analysis approach. Phenotypic characteristics of body size used as the basis of characterization is body weight (BW), Height of Body (HB), Body length (BL), chest circumference (CC), chest width (CW) and shank length (SL). The research was carried out at the House’s of Local Chicken Maintenance have Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry Office of Samarinda City Government, East Kalimantan. The material used 35 local chickens East Kalimantan consists of 21 rooster and 14 hens chicken. Six measured body size variables were body weight, height weight, body length, chest circumference, chest width and shank length. Statistical analysis using descriptive analysis and discriminant analysis with the help of statistical programme computer to find out the differentiation variables between rooster’s and hens chickens were observed. The results showed that significant body size variables differed from height of body and shank length except body length, chest circumference, and chest width. The variability of morphometrics of local chickens of East Kalimantan was 64.16%, while the discriminant model formed for body weight into this study on local chickens of East Kalimantan was Y = 0.649 - 0.359HB + 1.144SL. Abstract

Pedagang ternak dalam penjualan kambing secara umum menggunakan sifat kualitatif dan kuantitatif ternak dalam menentukan harga ketika proses jual beli ternak. Sifat tersebut mempengaruhi performans yang berkaitan dengan kemampuan produksi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi fenotipe dan faktor yang mempengaruhi perdagangan kambing Jawarandu yang dipelihara dan dipasarkan oleh pedagang ternak di Kota Samarinda, Kalimantan Timur. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada bulan Desember 2020 - Maret 2021 di pedagang ternak Kota Samarinda. Penelitian menggunakan kambing Jawarandu jantan umur 8 sampai 24 bulan. Metode penelitian dan analisis data dalam penelitian ini yaitu menggunakan metode deskriptif analisis dan analisis keragaman. Hasil penelitian ini diperoleh rataan sifat kuantitatif kambing Jawarandu di kota Samarinda diperoleh nilai rataan dan SD dari Panjang badan, Lingkar dada dan Tinggi pundak (cm) secara berurutan yaitu 63,16±6,14; 70,87±6,48; 69,20±6,24. Keragaman sifat kualitatif kambing Jawarandu di kota Samarinda memiliki warna bulu dominan ditemukan yaitu campuran coklat putih (34,69%). Profil muka kambing yang dominan ditemukan yaitu cembung 100%, dengan bentuk telinga menjuntai ke bawah dan tidak terlipat 100%. Faktor yang berpengaruh terhadap aktivitas perdagangan kambing Jawarandu di Kota Samarinda dipengaruhi oleh jenis bangsa kambing, jenis kelamin, umur kambing, asal kambing, dan berdasarkan biaya (cost-based pricing). Faktor dalam penetapan harga dengan berdasarkan performans akan mampu menambahkan harga jual untuk mendapatkan keuntungan ataupun pendapatan serta mampu menutupi biaya produksi dari pedagang ternak.

Abstract

Katuk plant is a plant with a height of 2-3.5 m and is known by the public as a vegetable plant with a high nutritional content, namely 6.4 g protein, 9.9 g carbohydrates and 233 mg calcium. This study was conducted to determine the effect of giving katuk leaves (Sauropus androgynus) on egg production of laying hens (Galus domecticus) at the age of rejection. A non-factorial experiment in a completely randomized design (CRD) with four treatments and six replications with katuk leaf flour in this study. The data obtained were analyzed using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and further tested using the 5% Least Significant Difference (BNT) test. The results of this study showed that giving katuk leaf flour were significantly different on egg production and Feed Egg Ratio (FER) but not significantly different on feed consumption. An average egg production of 54%, an average ration consumption of 114.2-119.9 g/head/day, and an average Feed Egg Ratio (FER) of 1.6-2.11. The treatment using 10 g of katuk leaf flour was the best treatment, namely an egg production of 89.88%, a ration consumption of 114.5 g/head/day and a Feed Egg Ratio (FER) of 1.6.

Abstract

The ewe Jawarandu goat is one type of livestock that is currently developing both on smallholder farms and industrial-scale farms. The effect of the application of management on goats productivity is reflected in the quality of the qualitative and quantitative traits that develop in goats. This study aims to determine the qualitative and quantitative characteristics of ewe Jawarandu goats in smallholder farms and livestock industries in East Kalimantan. This research was conducted in two places, namely community farms in Lempake Village, Samarinda Utara District, and at PT. Equalindo Farm, Tenggarong Seberang, East Kalimantan. The study used a purposive sampling method, namely the collection technique according to the criteria determined by the researcher, with goats aged 6-24 months. Sampling data using total sampling with all the population according to the criteria as a sample. The results of study stated that the ewe Jawarandu goats in East Kalimantan were dominated by white-brown goats. The results of quantitative characteristics show that average body size in smallholder farms is sequentially higher at body length 57.81±7.35, chest circumference 63.5±6.62, shoulder height 61.31±5.96, and body weight 23. ,65±7.35, while on an industrial scale, the average value was lower with successively at body length 52.54±3.83, chest circumference 60.72±4.28, shoulder height 56.18±5.79 and body weight 19.53±3.42. Several factors that can affect the qualitative and quantitative differences in goats in two different managements are related to the application of management, especially livestock selection, and factors adaptation to the environment. The relationship between selection and adaptation affects goat's productivity.

Abstract

Pengembangan produktivitas indukan merupakan bagian yang sangat penting dalam peningkatan populasi ternak terutama kambing sebagai hewan prolifik. Alternatif metode yang digunakan sebagai acuan dalam upaya meningkatkan kualitas indukan adalah dengan menetapkan standar menggunakan indeks ukuran tubuh ternak. Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh morfometrik dan indeks ukuran tubuh terhadap litter size pada kambing lokal Indonesia diberbagai paritas. Penelitian ini dilakukan di 2 (dua) lokasi yaitu Kelurahan Lempake, Samarinda dan PT. Equalindo Farm, Kutai Kartanegara. Penelitian dilaksanakan Desember 2021 sampai Februari 2022 dengan metode purposive sampling serta pengambilan sampel dengan total sampling yaitu pengambilan sampel sesuai dengan kriteria-kriteria yang ditentukan peneliti yaitu kambing Peranakan Etawa dan Jawarandu betina yang telah mengalami paritas 1 sampai paritas 4. Analisis regresi dan korelasi digunakan sebagai analisis data penelitian. Hasil penelitian pada sifat kualitatif menunjukkan pada kambing Peranakan Etawa (PE) menunjukan warna bulu yang dominan hitam putih dengan presentase 84,61%, sedangkan pada Jawarandu didominasi warna hitam dengan presentase 33,33%. Pengamatan pada paritas terhadap ukuran tubuh kambing PE dan Jawarandu yang menunjukan bahwa semakin bertambahnya paritas indukan berpengaruh pada penambahan morfometrik pada indukan tersebut. kondisi morfometrik kambing mampu memberikan pengaruh terhadap Dengan adanya indeks ukuran tubuh peternak maupun industri dapat melakukan seleksi dalam memilih induk kambing. Sedangkan pada pengaruh indeks ukuran tubuh terhadap litter size menunjukan bahwa semakin besar indeks ukuran tubuh maka semakin besar litter size yang akan dihasilkan oleh induk kambing.
