Abstract

Testing Indigenous Endophytic Bacteria in Controlling Causes of Cacao Rot Disease (Phytophthora palmivora Butler) In Vitro Phytophthora palmivora is the cause of important diseases in cacao, including pod rot. Fruit rot is the most dominant disease because it causes great losses. The use of biological agents is an environmentally friendly way to treat rot disease. One of these biological agents is endophytic bacteria in inhibiting the growth of the fungus P. palmivora which causes pod rot disease in cocoa (Theobroma cacao L.). The research was conducted in vitro. The results of the isolation and inhibition test showed that 1 isolat of endophytic bacteria had the best inhibition, namely BC2 isolat which was able to control P. palmivora fungi disease with an inhibitory percentage of 95.47% when compared to the control at 5 days after inoculation. The results of the inhibition test of the bacterial filtrate of BC2 isolat against P. palmivora at a concentration of 50% showed that the bacterial filtrate of BC2 isolates was able to inhibit the growth of P. palmivora fungi with an inhibitory percentage of 99.80% when compared to the control. The results of the inhibition test of BC2 isolat bacteria on P. palmivora fungi biomass showed that BC2 isolat bacteria were able to inhibit the formation of fungi biomass by 72.72% when compared to the control.

Abstract

Identification of Leaf Spot Disease of Lime Plants [Citrus aurantifolia (Christm.) Swingle]in Kertalangu Village,District of East Denpasar. In Kertalangu Village, District East of Denpasar there are some plants lime getting anthracnose disease. Disease status is unknown and the plants are not too noticed by their owners. The purpose of this research was to identify the disease that attack lime plants. This research outlines the causes of disease, the extent of damage and the rate of infection of pathogens that attack lime plants. The research was conducted over three months since April until June 2015.This research has shown that the pathogen causing anthracnose disease in lime plants is Colletotrichum gloeosporioides. The disease incidence ranges from 26.46% - 35.87%, pathogen infection rate ranges from 0.0171 to 0.0157 per leaf per day (? 0.11), which means that 1000 leaves, infected 171-157 per day with the criteria of slow infection rates and the extent of damage or the disease severity ranges from 17.31% - 24.47% (> 10% - ? 25%), classified as mild criteria.

Abstract

Identification of the Fungal causal Agent of Main Diseases in Hydroponic Lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.) Hydroponics is an agricultural cultivation system without using soil but using water-containing nutrient solutions. Hydroponic technology is used as an alternative in plant cultivation to maintain optimal plant growth. It is completely protected from the influence of external elements such as rain, pests, climate, and others. One of the plants that are often cultivated in hydroponic technology is lettuce. However, in practice, hydroponic lettuce plants are also faced with the constraints of pathogenic fungi that cause disease in cultivated plants. This research was conducted to identify pathogenic fungi that cause disease in hydroponic lettuce plants. The results showed that the disease in hydroponic lettuce was a leaf spot disease caused by Cercospora sp. and wilt disease caused by Fusarium sp. Leaf spot disease is the main disease with a disease percentage of 41.90%.
