Abstract

The discourse of religious moderation is important in Indonesia. The recent condition of the nation which is vulnerable to conflicts in the name of religion is the cause. Indonesia as a country with high diversity both in terms of religion, ethnicity and customs and race is allegedly vulnerable to division. Thus, the moderate path is the only way to ensure Indonesia's unity and unity. Descriptively this work tries to narrate forms of religious life which are full of tolerance, moderation and mutual respect at Kramat Ratu Mas Sakti Temple, Mengwi Badung. The unique thing that happens in this temple is that Hindu and Muslim communities carry out religious activities in the same place and simultaneously. They worship according to their beliefs but are in the same place. This condition makes them look after each other and respect each other. Harmonious life is a priority and a shared need, so they try to work together for it. This is a form that might be offered to the Indonesian people, namely if you want a life of moderation to go well, then the need for the importance of coexistence is highly recommended.

Abstract

This study examines the aesthetic embodiment of dharma—the moral and cosmic law—in Hindu literary traditions. It explores how classical and vernacular texts such as the Ramayana, Mahabharata, Kakawin Arjunawiwaha, and Geguritan Dharma Prawerti articulate ethical and spiritual ideals through poetic beauty. Hindu literature is not merely a cultural artifact but a moral pedagogy that teaches virtue (śīla) through aesthetic experience. By employing hermeneutic and qualitative textual analysis, this paper demonstrates that aesthetic expression in Hindu literature transforms philosophical doctrines into lived moral consciousness. The study reveals that the literary presentation of dharma functions as a transformative pathway toward virtue, emotional refinement, and spiritual liberation (moksha).

Abstract

This study explores the intersection of scripture, narrative, and spirituality in Hindu literary traditions through a hermeneutic literary lens. By examining the Vedas, Itihāsa, and Purāṇas, it argues that Hindu scriptures are not merely doctrinal texts but narrative theologies that use story as a medium of revelation. Through poetic symbolism, metaphor, and mythic imagination, Hindu texts communicate ethical insight and spiritual truth accessible to both scholars and devotees. Using qualitative hermeneutic analysis, the study interprets how narrative structures embody dharma, how myth functions as a vehicle for theological reflection, and how the act of reading itself becomes a form of sādhanā (spiritual practice). The findings reveal that Hindu literature integrates rational exposition with imaginative revelation, transforming scripture into a living dialogue between divinity, language, and human consciousness.

Abstract

This study investigates the intricate relationship between language and spirituality through an in-depth analysis of the Kawi language and its role in Hindu religious expression, particularly within the Indonesian context. As an ancient literary and liturgical language, Kawi functions not merely as a communicative tool, but as a complex symbolic system that encodes theological doctrines, philosophical insights, and ritual meanings. Its continued use in sacred texts, mantras, and ceremonial performances reflects a dynamic interaction between linguistic form and spiritual experience. Employing a qualitative interdisciplinary approach, this research integrates philological analysis, hermeneutic interpretation, semiotic examination, and anthropological observation to explore how Kawi operates across textual, ritual, and social dimensions. The study examines not only the structure and meaning of Kawi texts, but also their lived significance in religious practice, including how practitioners interpret, internalize, and transmit spiritual knowledge through language. The findings demonstrate that Kawi serves as a vital bridge between the material and spiritual realms, enabling the articulation of metaphysical concepts that are often beyond the reach of everyday language. It shapes religious consciousness by structuring how devotees understand cosmology, ethics, and the nature of divinity. Furthermore, Kawi plays a crucial role in preserving sacred knowledge and sustaining cultural identity, particularly in the face of modernization and linguistic shift. This research contributes to broader discussions on linguistic spirituality by highlighting the enduring relevance of sacred languages in contemporary religious life. It underscores the need for preservation efforts, not only as a matter of cultural heritage, but also as a means of maintaining spiritual continuity and depth within religious communities.
