Abstract

The availability of quality human resources was important for the continuity excellence of the company and for gaining competitive advantage in the company. It could be obtained by operationalizing development or placement as part of HR management practices based on a potential review. This led to the use of psychological tests. The accuracy of psychological tests was required in potential review in order to predict future behavior. HR practitioners and psychologists showed appreciation and confidence in psychological tests. However, it had not been fully supported by empirical evidence regarding the accuracy of the tests for selecting employees. The purpose of this study was to figure out the extent of both tools in predicting emotion control. The finding from 159 subjects showed that the activity factor PAPI-Kostick and crown of tree predicted the emotion control.Abstrak : Untuk kesinambungan kinerja perusahaan dan capaian keuntungan kompetitif, diperlukan manajemen SDM potential review. Potential review memerlukan peran alat tes psikologi yang akurat untuk memprediksi perilaku. Apresiasi dan kepercayaan psikolog pada alat tes psikologi belum didukung oleh bukti-bukti empiris (evidance based) mengenai hal tersebut. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk melihat sejauh mana PAPI-Kostick dan BAUM mampu memprediksi pengendalian emosi. Hasil penelitian pada 159 karyawan, menunjukkan faktor aktivitas PAPI-Kostick dan bagian mahkota pada BAUM dapat memprediksi pengendalian emosi. Sehingga efektivitas penggunaan kedua alat tes psikologi tersebut untuk mengases potensi pengendalian emosi karyawan.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbedaan sense of power mahasiswa ditinjau dari pola asuh ibu. Hipotesis dalam penelitian ini adalah ada perbedaan sense of power mahasiswa ditinjau dari pola asuh ibu. Dimana sense of power mahasiswa paling tinggi adalah mahasiswa yang diasuh dengan pola asuh otoritatif dan yang memiiki sense of power paling rendah adalah mahasiswa yang diasuh dengan pola asuh otoritarian. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah 82 mahasiswa yang diambil dengan teknik pengambilan sampel accidental. Alat pengumpulan data menggunakan skala sense of power Anderson (2012) dan skala parental authority questionnaire (PAQ) (Buri, 1991), Uji coba alat ukur telah dilakukan dan menunjukkan reliabilitas skala sense of power 0,827. Skala PAQ dengan reliabilitas 0,773 untuk skala ibu permisif, 0,748 untuk skala pola asuh ibu otoritarian, dan 0,855 untuk skala pola asuh ibu otoritatif. Teknik analisis yang dilakukan adalah menggunakan one way anova-games dowell. Uji hipotesis menunjukkan bahwa ada perbedaan yang signifikan pada sense of power mahasiswa ditinjau dari pola asuh ibu, dengan nilai sum of squares between groups = 873.181,p = 0,000 (p<0,05). Perbedaan ini khususnya pada mahasiswa yang diasuh dengan pola asuh otoritarian dan pola asuh otoritatif. Mahasiswa yang diasuh dengan pola asuh otoritarian memiliki sense of power yang paling rendah dibandingkan dengan mahasiswa yang diasuh dengan pola asuh otoritatif dan perimisif. Analisis tambahan juga dilakukan untuk melihat sense of power berdasarkan gender mahasiswa.

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui peran empowering leadership terhadap intensi turnover pada karyawan Generasi Z. Hipotesis dalam penelitian ini adalah empowering leadership berperan negatif terhadap intensi turnover dengan mengendalikan variabel pendapatan. Jumlah partisipan penelitian ini adalah 180 partisipan dengan kriteria: tahun kelahiran 1995-2002, full-time employee, dan telah bekerja minimal selama 6 bulan dalam institusi/perusahaan saat ini. Alat ukur yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah empowering leadership scale yang diadaptasi dari Amundsen & Martinsen (2014a) dan skala intensi turnover yang diadaptasi dari Landau & Hammer (1986). Koefisien reliabilitas Cronbach Alpha empowering leadership scale sebesar 0,815 pada dimensi dukungan otonomi, 0,852 pada dimensi dukungan pengembangan, dan 0,879 untuk seluruh dimensi (koefisien reliabilitas alpha berstrata). Koefisien Cronbach alpha intensi turnover sebesar 0,810. Penelitian ini juga melibatkan variable kontrol berupa pendapatan. Analisis data menggunakan hierarchial regression analysis. Hasil menunjukkan empowering leadership berperan negatif terhadap intensi turnover R2=0,059. Artinya, 5.9% variasi intensi turnover bisa dijelaskan oleh variabel empowering leadership. Sedangkan sisanya yakni 94,1% dijelaskan oleh variabel lain. Data deskriptif menunjukkan hubungan antara variabel demografis dan intensi turnover. Hasil menunjukkan terdapat hubungan antara pendapatan yang diterima oleh karyawan dan intensi turnover, sedangkan usia, jenis kelamin, lama bekerja, dan status perkawinan tidak memiliki hubungan yang signifikan dengan intensi turnover. Analisis tambahan juga menunjukkan hubungan antara masing-masing dimensi empowering leadership dengan intensi turnover.

Abstract

This research aimed to determine the correlation between work engagement with turnover intention among generation Y employees. The research hypothesis proposed that there was a negative correlation between work engagement with turnover intention among generation y employees. The participants in this study were 411 generation Y employees. This research was a quantitative study with non-probability sampling technique. The data was collected by distributing online scales which are Utrecht Work Engagement Scale-9 (UWES-9) and Turnover Intention Scale Six Items (TIS-6). From the try-out of scales, the reliability of coefficients on UWES-9 was .91 and TIS-6 was .78. The data was analyzed using Pearson Product Moment Correlation technique because the data was normally distributed. The result of the analysis test showed that work engagement has a negative correlation with turnover intention with r = -.63; p .01. Based on the result, it can be concluded that there was a significant negative correlation between work engagement with turnover intention among generation y employees.

Abstract

This study aims to describe communication behavior of Indonesian junior high school teachers based on the construct of the Teacher Communication Behavior Questionnaire (TCBQ). It was conducted in response to the need to develop teacher communication measurement with a clear construct to improve the quality of teacher communication research in Indonesia. Culture plays an important role in affecting communication behavior. It is necessary to study whether TCBQ's constructs are also found in teacher communication in Indonesia. Teacher communication behavior is important for learning, especially for students in early adolescence. This research used qualitative descriptive. Eleven junior high school teachers participated in this study using naturalistic observation obtained through video recording in the classroom. The results showed that according to the TCBQ perspective, participants perform four types of communication behavior: (1) challenging; (2) encouraging-praise; (3) understanding-friendly; and (4) controlling.

Abstract

The current article shows the importance of involving an adequate size of try-out samples based on two considerations: the power of the analysis and the accuracy of parameter estimates. Two simulation studies were conducted to achieve two purposes. The first was to show the disadvantages of calculating reliability estimates with inadequate sample sizes due to lower power or high inaccuracy. The second objective was to show the performance of two formulas for calculating the required sample size: Feldt and Bonett. Based on their performance, the recommendation on which formula should be used was made. The results of the first simulation show that inadequate sample size resulted in lower power to test estimated reliability from the data and large fluctuation of reliability estimates across samples. Such large fluctuations made higher possibility of having sample values of reliability estimates far from the population value. The second simulation results in better estimation of sample size required to have large power and accuracy using Bonett’s formula.
