Abstract

The establishment of oil palm plantations is starting from nursery which criteria has been standardized by the seeds produced. Nitrogen is one of the essential nutrients which determine the growth of oil palm (Elaeis guinensis Jacq) at the main nursery. Nitrogen has many sources which are produced from synthetics or natural sources, but on the other side, the pricing of fertilizers was increased any time and then must find an alternative which one is more effective and efficient. The effects of few nitrogen sources to the growth of oil palm in the main nursery is the objective of this research. The experiment was non factorial in a randomized complete block design comparing between N1 (urea Fertilizer), N2 (ZA Fertilizer), N3 (liquid organic fertilizer 60 ml/liter H2O had been extracted from Azolla microphylla), N4 (Azolla microphylla green manure 50 g/polybag) and N5 (Azolla microphylla composted 50 g/polybag) with five replications. The research showed that the height of oil palm in the nursery was not significantly affected by five nitrogen sources 2 and 4 weeks after treatment but significantly on 6, 8, 10 and 12 weeks, the higher plant found at N4 on12 weeks after treatment. Five Nitrogen sources were used not significantly affected amounts of leaves on 2 and 4 weeks but significantly affected on 6, 8, 10 and 12 weeks after applications. In the 12th week applications showed the most leaves on N3 but not significantly different from N4. Circumference of the stem after 2, 4, 6, 8 and 12 weeks after applications were not affected by five nitrogen sources but weight of the roots on fresh and dry conditions were affected by the treatment on 12th weeks which was N5 showed the highest but not different with N3 and N4; longs of the roots was not affected by the treatment. Composted, green manure as good as liquid organic fertilizer from Azolla microphylla had effects on amounts of leaves, height of plant, fresh and dry root weight. Azolla microphylla has the potential to be used as a source of nitrogen fertilizer on fertilizing oil palm at the main nursery.

Abstract

Study to evaluate the effect of the depth of water table in peatlands of the PB260 rubber girthimmature plants (age 2-3 years) and chemical properties of peat soil has been carried out inMeranti Estate RAPP Kampar Estuary Pangkalan Kerinci District of Riau in December 2013.Research used descriptive method with measuring water table depth in selected plots with girthmeasurements of planting rubber trees planted in 2010 and 2011. At two sample plots (representingthe shallowest water level and water level deep) dug each soil profile to the investigation anddecision soil samples. Soil samples were analyzed at the Laboratory of BPTP North Sumatra. Theresults showed that the water table in peatlands deeper, reaching 88.6 cm girth will decrease thegrowth of young rubber trees. Rubber immature plants age 2 years who has the best girth growth inground water at a depth of 29.6 cm deep and 3 years old trunk circumference rubber girth bestgrowth at 65.3 cm water table. Water table is within reach mean 88.6 cm cause fasterdecomposition of peat soil is characterized by C/N ratio of lower and lower quality (fertility) peatsoils with lower ash content, K-exchangeable, Mg-exchangeable, P-available and P-total.

Abstract

Keberhasilan pembangunan perkebunan kelapa sawit diawali dari penyediaan bibit yang standar sesuai dengan kriteria yang dikeluarkan oleh produsen kecambah. Nitrogen (N) adalah salah satu unsur hara yang sangat menentukan pertumbuhan kelapa sawit (Elaeis guinensis Jacq). Sumber pupuk nitrogen untuk pemupukan kelapa sawit bervariasi dari sumber alam maupun sintetik. Harga pupuk nitrogen yang terus meningkat menjadi dasar untuk melakukan penelitian ini, sehingga akan diperoleh alternatif lain sebagai sumber pupuk N di pembibitan utama kelapa sawit. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh beberapa sumber pupuk nitrogen terhadap pertumbuhan bibit kelapa sawit (Elaeis guinensis jacq) di pembibitan utama. Metode yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) non faktorial dengan 5 taraf yaitu N1 (pupuk urea), N2 (pupuk ZA), N3 (Pupuk Organik Cair dari Azolla microphylla 60 ml/liter H2O), N4 (pupuk hijau dari Azolla micropylla (50 g/polybag) dan N5 (pupuk kompos dari Azolla microphylla 50 g/polybag). Jumlah ulangan sebanyak 5; dengan jumlah bibit/plot sebanyak 3, sehingga jumlah bibit yang digunakan seluruhnya adalah 60 bibit. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa beberapa sumber pupuk N tidak berpengaruh nyata terhadap tinggi tanaman (cm) pada minggu 2 dan 4 setelah aplikasi perlakuan, tetapi berpengaruh nyata pada Minggu ke 6, 8, 10 dan 12 setelah aplikasi perlakuan, dengan bibit tertinggi pada N4 di umur 12 Minggu setelah aplikasi. Beberapa sumber pupuk N tidak berpengaruh nyata terhadap jumlah daun umur 2 dan 4 minggu setelah aplikasi, dan berpengaruh nyata pada umur 6, 8, 10 dan 12 minggu setelah aplikasi, dengan jumlah daun tertinggi pada N3, tetapi tidak berbeda nyata dengan N4. Beberapa sumber pupuk Nitrogen tidak berpengaruh nyata terhadap lingkar batang umur 2, 4, 6, 8 dan 12 minggu setelah aplikasi perlakuan, berpengaruh nyata terhadap berat basah dan berat kering akar pada umur 12 minggu setelah aplikasi dengan berat segar dan berat kering tertinggi pada N5 tetapi tidak berbeda nyata dengan N4 dan N3. Perlakuan tidak berpengaruh nyata terhadap Panjang akar. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah beberapa sumber pupuk nitrogen berpengaruh terhadap pertumbuhan kelapa sawit di pembibitan utama. Pupuk nitrogen yang bersumber dari Azolla microphylla dalam bentuk kompos, pupuk hijau dan POC berpengaruh sama baik terhadap jumlah daun, tinggi tanaman, berat basah dan kering akar. Azolla microphylla berpotensi digunakan sebagai alternatif pengganti pupuk ZA dan Urea pada kelapa sawit di pembibitan utama.

Abstract

This research was conducted to determine the quality of particle board using the raw material of empty palm oil bunches with different compositions. Oil palm is a plantation crop that has an important role in Indonesia today. This plant is a plant that produces vegetable oil and its derivative products. The processing of Empty Palm Oil Bunches (EFB) into particle board as a strategy for utilizing solid waste from palm oil processing was carried out in March - June 2020. Quality tests were carried out to determine the water content, bulk density, and composition ratio of the best OPEFB-polyurethane resin for producing high-quality particle boards. The moisture content of the OPEFB fiber was obtained at 43.34%, while the maximum density and hardness of the Hardness Rockwell Scale B (HRB) can be obtained with a ratio of OPEFB fiber to resin (50: 50) 50% OPEFB and 50% resin with a bulk density of 186.70 gr/cm3 and hardness of 60 HRB. The water content affects the resistance and weight of the contents so it needs to be dried. While the high bulk density affects the particle density thereby increasing the hardness of the material. This research was conducted at the STIPAP Medan Soil and Fertilizer Laboratory and the Medan Industrial Chemical Technology Polytechnic Lab. This research was conducted in March - June 2020. This research was a descriptive study. The parameters observed were moisture content, hardness, and bulk density. The data obtained were analyzed descriptively. Based on research conducted, the greater the mass of the board, the higher the weight of the particle board. Meanwhile, the hardness of particle board is influenced by bulk density and moisture content of particle board.

Abstract

This research was carried out in the practice garden and Laboratory of the Indonesian Palm Oil Institute (ITSI) Medan. It will be carried out from March to June 2022 to get the growth and development of oil palm seedlings by applying empty palm fruit bunch compost as the use of organic fertilizer during the nursery period. This study used a Non-Factorial Randomized Block Design (RBD) with one factor studied, namely variations in the application of compost to oil palm seedlings. Parameters observed were plant height, stem diameter, number of leaves, root length, root volume, root fresh weight, shoot wet weight, root dry weight, shoot dry weight. The data obtained was analyzed statistically by Analysis Of Variance (ANOVA). Based on the results of observations and analysis of variance, it was shown that the application of empty palm fruit bunch compost had a significant effect on shoot wet weight and had a significant effect on shoot dry weight and had a significant effect on stem diameter growth at 16 WAP observations, and had no significant effect on plant height, number leaves, root length, root volume, root wet weight, root dry weight.
