Abstract

The growth of seedlings in the field in very determined by the growth of plants in the nursery.Planting media is the one factors that affect the growth of plants in the nursery. Therefore, by givingmikorizha and composition of the planting media is expected can increase the growth of oil palmnurseries in pre nursery. This research was conducted in screen house af Faculty AgriculturalUniversity of Sumatera Utara with altitude ± 25 meters from sea surface from April-July 2014, usedrandomized block design with  two factors. The first factor is composition of planting media (sludge+ ultisol) with four levels (0% + 100%) (S0); (25% +75%) (S1); (50% + 50%) (S); (75% + 25%)(S3) and the second factor is mikorizha with three levels 0 (M0); 5 (M12); 10 g/plant (M). Parameterobserved was plant height, stem diameter, number of leaves, total leaf area, leaf greenes, degree ofinfection, root volume, shoof dry weight root dry weight. The result of this research showed that useof planting media composition significantly effect to plant height parameters 6-12 weeks afterplanting, stem diameter 6-12 weeks after planting, number of leaves 6,7,8,10,11 weeks afterplanting, total leaf area, green leaf, degree of infection, root volume and plant dry weight.Mikorizha treatmen is significantly effect the degree of infection parameters. Interaction ofcompositition planting media and mikorizha significantly effect on plant height at 6 weeks afterplanting and degree infection.Keywords: mikorizha, sludge, ultisol, palm oil 2

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendapatkan jenis mulsa dan dosis pupuk kandang ayam tertentuyang dapat meningkatkan pertumbuhan dan produksi bawang merah. Penelitian dilaksanakan dilahan percobaan Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Sumatera Utara, Medan dengan ketinggian ± 25meter di atas permukaan laut, pada bulan April hingga Juli 2014. Metode penelitian menggunakanrancangan acak kelompok faktorial dengan dua faktor yaitu jenis mulsa (tanpa mulsa, mulsa plastikhitam perak, mulsa jerami) dan pupuk kandang ayam (tanpa pupuk, 1 kg, 2 kg, dan 3 kg/m2).Parameter yang diamati adalah tinggi tanaman, jumlah daun per rumpun, jumlah anakan perrumpun, diameter umbi per sampel, bobot basah umbi per sampel, bobot kering jual per sampel,bobot basah umbi per plot, dan bobot kering jual per plot. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwajenis mulsa berpengaruh nyata terhadap parameter bobot basah umbi per plot dan bobot kering jualumbi per plot. Pemberian pupuk kandang ayam berpengaruh nyata terhadap parameter tinggitanaman pada umur 2 MST. Interaksi antara jenis mulsa dan pupuk kandang ayam berpengaruhtidak nyata terhadap semua parameter pengamatan. Hasil terbaik dari penelitian ini diperoleh padaperlakuan mulsa jerami padi.Kata kunci : bawang merah, jenis mulsa, pupuk kandang ayam

Abstract

The using of herbal medicine has increasing rapidly recently. One of the medical plant that has been developing is bawang sabrang. The aim of the research is to find out the proper dosage of humic acid and empty palm bunches compost for cultivated of bawang sabrang. Research was conducted at experimental field Faculty of Agriculture, University of Sumatera Utara, Medan about 25 m above sea level started from June until October 2014, used randomized block design, with two factors which are humic acid at several doses (0 g/plot, 1 g/plot, 2 g/plot, 3 g/plot) and palm empty fruit bunches compost at several doses (0 kg/plot, 0,5 kg/plot, 1 kg/plot dan 1,5 kg/plot) and was repeated three times. Data were analyzed by using ANOVA and continued with Duncan. Parameters were observed is net assimilation rate, relative growth rate, number of tillers, fresh bulb weight and number of bulb. The result showed that the effect of humic acid were increasing the net assimilation rate at fifth week after planting (WAP). The effect of empty palm bunches compost were increased the relative growth at four week and net assimilation rate at fifth week. The interaction between humic acid and empty palm bunches compost were increased the net assimilation rate at fifth week, but the effect of giving humic acid and empty palm bunches compost at number of tillers, fresh bulb weight and number of bulb parameters has not real.Keywords: humic acid, compost of empty palm bunches, Eleutherine americana Merr.

Abstract

BAP has a fuction to accelerate the formation of buds and accelerate the growth of vegetative. Nitrogen fertilizer a fuction to inrease of vegetative growth. This reasearh was conducted at experimental field of college agriculture The Sumatera Utara University in June until August 2014. The design of the experiment was randomized block design arranged in factorial with two factors. The first factor was the BAP with 4 levels of each B0 (0 ppm), B1 (20 ppm), B2 (20 ppm) and B3 (30 ppm). The second factor was the nitrogen fertilizer with 4 level of each N0 (0 g/plant). N1 (0.4 g/plant, N2 (0.8 g/plant), N3 (1.2 g/plant). The results showed the giving of BAP until 20 ppm has a significantly effect increase plant height, number of leaves, number of bulb at 1-2 MST. The nitrogen fertilizer treatment has a significantly effect towarde plant height 8 MST, totally leaf area, plant rate growth, greenish leaf and dry weight per sample. The interaction BAP and nitrogen fertilizer has not a significantly for all parameters.Key words : 6-Benzylaminopurin, nitrogen, shallot

Abstract

The aim of the research was to identify the effect of GA3 concentration and soaking period on the seed yield of shallot. Research was conducted at Hatoguan Village, Palipi Subdistrict, Samosir from February up to July 2014, carried out by using randomizes block design with two factors, replicated three times. The first factor was GA3 concentrations (50 ppm; 100 ppm; 150 ppm; 200 ppm; and 250 ppm) and the second was soaking period (30; 60; and 90 minutes). Parameters observed were the number of plant producing flowers per plot, the number of umbel per plot, seed weight per umbel, and seed weight per plot. The results showed that among all parameters observed, only the number of plants producing flowers per plot and seed weight per umbel were affected by GA3 concentration. The highest number of plants producing flowers and seed weight per umbel were produced by G4 (200 ppm GA3) i.e 10,780 plants (43,12 %) and 0,202 g respectively. Meanwhile, only seed weight per umbel was significantly affected by soaking period. The correlation between soaking period and seed weight per unbel showed positive linear regression.Key word: GA3 consentration, soaking period, shallot

Abstract

The aim of the research was to identify the influence of several types of organic fertilizer on the growth and yield of three shallot varieties on the land exposed by Sinabung volcanic ash. The research was conducted at the experimental field of Agricultural Faculty, Sumatera Utara University which about ± 25 metres above sea level, begun from April up to August 2014. The experimental design was randomized block design with 2 factors, replicated three times. The first factor was three shallot varieties i.e : V1 (Bima Brebes), V2 (Crok Kuning), V3 (Samosir) and the second was several types of organic fertilizer i.e : P0 (without fertilizer = control), P1 (palm oil fruit bunch), P2 (rice husk ash), and P3 (cow manure). Parameters observed were shoot length, leaves number, tillers number, clove number, harvesting age, and fresh and dried weight bulb per sample. The results showed that all parameters observed were significantly affected by three shallot varieties, meanwhile only harvesting age, and wet and dry weight bulb per plot were significantly affected by several types of organic fertilizer. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh debu vulkanik gunung Sinabung dan pupuk kompos jerami padi terhadap pertumbuhan tembakau Deli. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Balai Penelitian Tembakau Deli (BPTD) Sampali, Kecamatan Percut Sei Tuan, Kabupaten Deli Serdang, Provinsi Sumatera Utara pada ketinggian tempat + 15 meter diatas permukaan laut. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada bulan Mei sampai dengan Juli 2015. Rancangan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Rancangan Acak Kelompok  Non Faktorial yang terdiri dari 6 perlakuan top soil: debu vulkanik : kompos jerami padi yaitu: M0 (15 kg: 0 kg: 0 kg), M1 (13 kg: 2 kg: 0 kg), M2 (13 kg: 1.5 kg: 0.5 kg), M3 (13 kg: 1 kg: 1 kg), M4 (13 kg: 0.5 kg: 1.5 kg), M5 (13 kg: 0 kg: 2 kg). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perbandingan debu vulkanik dengan pupuk kompos jerami padi berpengaruh nyata terhadap diameter batang pada 18 hari setelah pindah tanam (HSPT) – 46 HSPT dan jumlah daun per tanaman pada umur  46 hari setelah pindah tanam (HSPT). Perbandingan debu vulkanik dan kompos jerami padi tidak berpengaruh nyata terhadap tinggi tanaman, panjang daun pasir (Z), panjang daun kaki I (VA), lebar daun pasir (Z), lebar daun kaki I (VA), berat segar daun pasir (Z) dan berat segar daun kaki I (VA).

Abstract

Pengusahaan kopi organik dapat pula dijadikan sebagai salah satu alternatif dalam meningkatkan mutu kopi robusta Indonesia. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Kecamatan Medan Johor, Sumatera Utara dengan ketinggian ±32 meter dpl, dari bulan Mei sampai September 2016, menggunakan rancangan acak kelompok dengan 2 faktor perlakuan. Faktor pertama adalah perbandingan topsoil dan pupuk kandang (pukan) ayam dengan 4 perbandingan volume yaitu (1:0); (3:1); (2:1); (1:1) dan faktor kedua yaitu pemberian pupuk organik cair (POC) dengan 4 taraf yaitu 0 cc/l; 2 cc/l; 4 cc/l; 6 cc/l. Parameter pengamatan adalah volume akar (cm3), bobot kering tajuk (g) dan bobot kering akar (g). Perlakuan pukan ayam berpengaruh nyata terhadap parameter pengamatan volume akar, bobot kering akar dan bobot kering tajuk. Perlakuan pemberian POC berpengaruh tidak nyata terhadap semua parameter. Interaksi pukan ayam dan POC berpengaruh nyata terhadap parameter bobot kering akar dan bobot kering tajuk.

Abstract

Rendahnya produksi paria diakibatkan oleh berkurangnya lahan subur yang disebabkan penggunaan pupuk anorganik secara terus menerus. Oleh karena itu perlu dilakukan usaha perbaikan dengan cara penggunaan pupuk organik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui respon pertumbuhan dan produksi tanaman paria terhadap berbagai komposisi media tanam dan pemberian pupuk organik cair . Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di lahan penelitian Fakultas Pertanian USU (± 25 m dpl) pada bulan April hingga Juli 2016 menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) faktorial dengan tiga ulangan. Faktor pertama komposisi media tanam dengan tiga komposisi media tanam yaitu: ultisol : pukan sapi : sekam 2 : 1 : 1 (M1), ultisol : pukan ayam : sekam 2 : 1 : 1 (M2), ultisol : kompos : sekam 2 : 1 : 1 (M3) serta faktor kedua pemberian pupuk organik cair dengan empat taraf perlakuan yaitu: 0ml/l air (P0), 2ml/l air (P1), 4ml/l air (P2) dan 6ml/l air (P3). Parameter yang diamati adalah tinggi tanaman, jumlah daun, jumlah cabang primer, umur berbunga, jumlah buah, panjang buah, diameter buah, bobot buah segar per tanaman, bobot kering tajuk, bobot kering akar, dan persentase buah normal. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa perlakuan komposisi media tanam berpengaruh nyata terhadap tinggi tanaman, jumlah daun, jumlah cabang primer, umur berbunga, jumlah buah, bobot buah segar per tanaman, bobot kering tajuk dan bobot kering akar. Dimana komposisi media tanam yang terbaik ialah pada ultisol : pukan ayam : sekam 2 : 1: 1 (M2). Perlakuan pemberian pupuk organik cair dan interkasi keduanya berpengaruh tidak nyata terhadap semua parameter.Kata kunci : komposisi media tanam, paria, pupuk organik cair

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendapatkan dosis pemberian pupuk NPK dan pemangkasan buah tertentu yang dapat meningkatkan pertumbuhan dan produksi melon. Penelitian dilaksanakan di lahan petani di desa Tiga Juhar, kecamatan STM Hulu, kabupaten Deli Serdang dengan ketinggian ± 300 meter di atas permukaan laut, pada bulan Mei hingga Agusutus 2015. Metode penelitian menggunakan rancangan acak kelompok faktorial dengan dua faktor yaitu pupuk NPK (0 g/tanaman, 40 g/tanaman, 80 g/tanaman dan 120 g/tanaman) dan pemangkasan buah (tanpa pemangkasan, 1 buah ditinggal/tanaman, 2 buah ditinggal/tanaman, dan 3 buah ditinggal/tanaman). Parameter yang diamati adalah panjang tanaman, jumlah daun, jumlah cabang primer dan sekunder, rasio bunga betina dan jantan, produksi per tanaman, produksi per plot, persentase mutu buah per tanaman.Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemberian pupuk NPK berpengaruh nyata terhadap parameter panjang tanaman umur 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, dan 9 MST, jumlah daun 2 - 8 MST, jumlah cabang primer, jumlah cabang sekunder. Pemangkasan buah berpengaruh nyata terhadap parameter panjang tanaman umur 8 dan 9 MST. Pemberian pupuk NPK dan pemangkasan buah tidak berpengaruh nyata terhadap parameter rasio bunga betina dan jantan.  Interaksi antara pemberian pupuk NPK dan pemangkasan buah berpengaruh nyata terhadap parameter panjang tanaman pada umur 6 MST, jumlah daun pada umur 9 MST, produksi per tanaman, produksi per plot, persentase mutu buah kelas A, persentase mutu buah kelas B, dan persentase mutu buah kelas C.
