Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

Abstract: Female teachers often use high heels in their work activities, which causes musculoskeletal problems such as hallux valgus. Hallux valgus can cause pain around the first metatarsophalangeal joint. One of the treatments for hallux valgus is a hallux valgus splint which works as a big toe corrector. This study aims to determine the effect of using hallux valgus splints on pain due to hallux valgus on teachers and employees at public elementary schools in the Kemangkon district. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of using a hallux valgus splint on pain due to hallux valgus in teachers and employees at State Elementary Schools in Kemongkon District. Patients and methods: This research is a quasi-experimental research with one group pre and posttest design. The subjects in this study were teachers and employees at a public elementary school in the Kemangkon district as many as 22 people with hallux valgus pain. Subjects were given an intervention using a hallux valgus splint and pain measurements were made using a numeric rating scale (NRS). Results: Hypothesis testing using paired sample t-test showed that the use of hallux valgus splint could reduce hallux valgus pain p = 0.000 (p <0.05), statistically there was an effect. Conclusion: It can be concluded that there is an effect of using a hallux valgus splint on pain due to hallux valgus on teachers and employees at public elementary schools in Kemangkon District

Abstract

Background: Amputation can be defined as the act of separating part of the body, part or all of an extremity. Currently, lower limb amputations account for 85-90% of all amputations and transtibial amputation is the most frequently performed type of amputation surgery. One of the problems with transtibial amputation is hyperextension and weakness of the ligaments in the knee. Knee hyperextension is a condition that occurs when the knee joint is extended (straightening the knee) excessively, thus putting pressure on the structure of the knee and the back of the knee joint. Ligament weakness in the knee is weakness in the anterior cruciate ligament, posterior cruciate ligament, medial collateral ligament and lateral collateral ligament. Choosing the right prosthesis components can overcome this. One component that plays an important role is the foot component. Methods: This type of research is observational analytic with a cross-sectional design. The research subjects were 17 transtibial prosthesis users. Data analysis in this study used Spearman Rank Test. Results: Based on the Spearman Rank results, the significance result was 0.653 for the type of foot with hyperextension, while for the type of foot with ligament weakness, the significance result was 0.434. Both variables had variable values > 0.05, meaning there was no correlation between foot type and hyperextension and ligament weakness in transtibial prosthesis users. Conclusion: There is no correlation type of foot to hyperextension and ligament weakness. In future research, it is hoped that research can be carried out with a larger number of samples and a more varied type of foot.

Abstract

Background: Amputation of a lower limb has a detrimental effect on one's quality of life, psychological health, and physical health. Reduced physical capacity is one of the effects that contributes to physical health. As a result, the experience of using a prosthesis is essential for enhancing functional capacities to adjust to the social, professional, and family environments. The aim of this study was to determine the relationship between the length of prosthesis use and walking speed in transtibial prosthesis users.   Methods: This study used a cross-sectional analytical observational design. A two-minute walk test was used to measure walking speed, and an observation sheet was used to assess usage duration. Purposive sampling was employed to recruit a total of 15 participants, and hypothesis testing was conducted using Spearman’s rank correlation.   Results: The results showed that there was no significant correlation between walking speed and the duration of prosthesis use among transtibial prosthesis users (r = −0.314, p = 0.255).   Conclusion: This study found no statistically significant relationship between the duration of prosthesis use and walking speed among transtibial prosthesis users. Walking speed is likely influenced by multiple factors, including age, stump length, muscle strength, and prosthesis condition. Therefore, rehabilitation strategies should adopt a comprehensive and individualized approach rather than relying solely on the duration of prosthesis use.

Abstract

Background: Football players with high running speeds will also have strong football skills. Over 50% of running activities are attributed to the ankle and foot. Running speed can be maximized with strong ankles. To keep the ankles healthy when running, ankle sleeves might be provided. One type of support for the ankle that applies the proper amount of pressure without being overly rigid or strong is an ankle sleeve. Because the ankle sleeve's function can limit excessive range of motion movements, improve alignment prior to initial contact, alter neuromuscular activity, and provide additional support that can prevent excessive movement, it is anticipated that the ankle will remain in good condition when running. Aim: The purpose of this study is to ascertain how wearing ankle sleeves affects football player’s running speeds. Method: One group pretest and posttest design in quantitative research. Thirteen individuals who wore ankle sleeves for four weeks made up the research sample. The paired sample T test is used for data analysis. Results: p = 0.001 (<0.05) for the analysis test. Conclusion: Football players' running speeds are impacted by the use of ankle sleeve.
