Abstract

Genus Zanthoxylum merupakan anggota dari suku Rutaceae yang tersebar luas di Asia Tengah dan Amerika Utara. Genus ini memiliki potensi yang sangat besar dalam bidang medis karena dapat menghasilkan minyak esensial serta dimanfaatkan oleh masyarakat sebagai sumber obat. Saat ini penelitian genus Zanthoxylum terfokus pada bidang fitokimia. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis hubungan kekerabatan spesies dalam genus Zanthoxylum menggunakan DNA kloroplas sekuen gen matK. Data sekuen gen matK diperoleh dari National Center for Biotechnology. Sebanyak 22 spesies dari genus Zanthoxylum yang berasal dari 13 negara digunakan dalam analisis ini. Data sekuen kemudian dianalisis hubungan kekerabatan dengan menggunakan program MEGA 7. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa rata-rata jumlah nukleotida pada sekuen matK adalah 35,5% (T), 19,6% (C), 26,9% (A), dan 18,0% (G). Hasil analisis filogenetik menunjukkan bahwa sekuen gen matK pada spesies dalam genus Zanthoxylum mengelompok ke dalam satu kelompok dan terpisah dari outgroup-nya (Citrus paradisi dan Melicope vitiflora). Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa DNA kloroplas sekuen gen matK dapat digunakan untuk mengelompokkan spesies dalam genus Zanthoxylum terpisah dari genus lainnya (antar spesies) tetapi kurang dapat memisahkan spesies dalam genus yang sama (intra spesies). Hasil penelitian ini dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai informasi awal untuk menganalisis hubungan kekerabatan spesies dalam genus Zanthoxylum menggunakan berbagai penanda molekuler.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbandingan kadar glukosa darah mencit (Mus musculus) yang diberi ekstrak etanol dan ekstrak air daging buah mahkota dewa. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Rumah Hewan dan Laboratorium Kimia Universitas Negeri Medan, pada bulan Mei sampai Juni 2012. Metode dan desain penelitian ini adalah metode eksperimental, menggunakan 24 ekor mencit jantan dengan dosis pemberian ekstrak etanol dan ekstrak air daging buah mahkota dewa pada kelompok perlakuan masing-masing 1ml yang diberikan secara oral menggunakan sonde. Kadar glukosa darah setelah pemberian ekstrak etanol dan ekstrak air daging buah mahkota dewa diukur pada menit ke 240 setelah diberi glukosa 50%. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis dengan uji-t (uji test). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan mencit bahwa ekstrak etanol dan ekstrak air daging buah mahkota dewa berpengaruh nyata terhadap kadar glukosa darah. Dimana kadar glukosa darah pada menit ke 240 kelompok kontrol sebesar 122,25 mg/dl. Kelompok mencit yang diberi ekstrak etanol kadar glukosa darah pada menit ke 240 menurun sebesar 83,62 mg/dl (turun 44,25%) dari kadar glukosa darah yang telah diberi glukosa 50%. Kelompok mencit yang diberi ekstrak air, kadar glukosa darah menurun sebesar 89 mg/dl (turun 43,10%) dari kadar glukosa yang diberi glukosa 50%. Hasil uji test menunjukkan bahwa t hitung (3,07) lebih besar dibandingkan dengan t tabel (1,761) maka (H0) menyatakan tidak ada perbandingan kadar glukosa darah mencit yang diberi ekstrak etanol dan ekstrak air daging buah mahkota dewa sehingga (Ha) menyatakan ada perbandingan kadar glukosa darah mencit yang diberi ekstrak etanol dan ekstrak air daging buah mahkota dewa diterima.

Abstract

Indonesia dikenal memiliki tingkat keragaman hayati yang tinggi. Keragaman hayati tanaman di Indonesia merupakan potensi yang dapat dikembangkan dan bernilai tinggi. Salah satu tanaman yang berpotensi untuk dikembangkan adalah gandaria. Gandaria merupakan tanaman yang dapat tumbuh tinggi. Sebagai salah satu tanaman asli Indonesia, gandaria dimanfaatkan mulai dari buah, daun, hingga batangnya. Pemanfaatan yang optimal dari tanaman gandaria dapat meningkatkan nilai ekonomis. Secara ekologi, gandaria menyebar mulai dari kawasan pantai hingga dataran tinggi. Gandaria merupakan tumbuhan tropik basah dan dapat tumbuh pada tanah yang ringan dan subur. Gandaria mudah beradaptasi pada lingkungan budidayanya dan merupakan salah satu komoditas buah-buahan tropis yang berpotensi baik. Kata kunci : ekologi, gandaria, tanaman

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk Mengidentifikasi dan mengamati pelajaran yang terjadi di kelas dan Meningkatkan aktifitas dan hasil belajar siswa dengan menggunakan model koopertif Think, Pair, Share .objek penelitian ini adalah Siswa Kelas IV SDN 010214 Tanah Merah.yang terdiri dari 40 siswa. Pada saat siklus I pada pelajaran IPA nilai rata-rata siswa 64,28 dan yang tuntas 55% setelah dilakukan tindakan yaitu pada siklus II mengalami peningkatan yakni nilai rata-rata  siswa memningkat signifikan menjadi 80 dan yang tuntas 96%.hal ini menyatakan bahwa pengunaan model kooperatif Think, Pair, Share (TPS) dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa. Kata Kunci : Koopertif, Hasil Belajar, TPS

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the supplementary books used by Biology/Biology Education students at Universitas Negeri Medan (Unimed), to assess the feasibility of literacy-based supplementary books, and to determine the differences in learning outcomes of students taking the Spermatophyta Taxonomy course after using the literacy-based supplementary book in the Biology Department of Unimed. The method used is research and development (R&D) employing the Thiagarajan model, which consists of four stages: 1) define, based on a needs analysis showing that 60% of students agreed on the development of a literacy-based book on orchid (Orchidaceae) diversity; 2) design, in which the book was developed based on four aspects of scientific literacy: (a) science as a body of knowledge, (b) science as a way of investigating, (c) science as a way of thinking, and (d) the interaction of science, technology, and society; 3) development, where orchid observation was conducted at the Pane Anggek orchid garden, involving four types of orchids: dendrobium, moon orchid (phalaenopsis), cattleya, and ground orchid; 4) dissemination, involving product trials with both small and large groups of students. The results show that the material expert validation score was 80% (good category), the scientific literacy aspect scored 81% (good), the learning expert gave a score of 87.9% (very good), and the Layout design expert gave a score of 85.5% (very good). Product trials with small student groups resulted in a score of 87% (very good), while trials with large groups yielded a score of 89% (very good). The N-gain test showed the developed book was moderately effective for use in the Spermatophyta Taxonomy course with a score of 63% (moderately effective). The t-test results from pretest and posttest scores showed a value of (Sig. 2-tailed) = 0.000 < 0.05, indicating a significant difference in students’ cognitive outcomes between pretest and posttest. The conclusion of this study is that the literacy-based orchid (Orchidaceae) diversity book as a learning resource can improve students’ cognitive abilities.   Keywords: Development, Literacy, Orchid, Supplementary Book

Abstract

This study aimed to develop and examine the feasibility and effectiveness of a Rare Plant Encyclopedia of the Taman Eden 100 Tobasa Agrotourism Forest based on scientific literacy as teaching material for the Plant Taxonomy course. The research method employed was research and development using the ADDIE model, which consists of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation stages. The research subjects included material experts, learning experts, design experts, the management of Taman Eden 100, lecturers, and Biology Education students. Research instruments consisted of validation sheets, response questionnaires, and pretest–posttest assessments. The results indicated that the developed encyclopedia achieved a very high level of feasibility based on expert evaluations. Lecturer and student responses to the use of the encyclopedia were also categorized as very good. The effectiveness test results showed an improvement in students’ scientific literacy after using the encyclopedia. In conclusion, the developed encyclopedia is feasible and sufficiently effective as teaching material and supports the enhancement of students’ scientific literacy as well as their awareness of rare plant conservation. Abstract

The mangrove ecosystem plays a vital role in maintaining the balance of coastal environments; however, pressures from human activities such as land conversion and overexploitation have led to a decline in its quality and area. This condition necessitates management and conservation efforts that actively involve coastal communities as key stakeholders. This study aims to determine the perception and participation of coastal communities in Silo Laut District, Asahan Regency, regarding the management and conservation of mangrove ecosystems. The research employed a survey method by distributing questionnaires to 276 respondents across three villages: Bangun Sari, Silo Baru, and Lubuk Palas. Data were collected through field observations, structured interviews, and questionnaires containing statements based on the Likert scale. The data were analyzed using the SMART method and Likert scale, and statistically tested with ANOVA analysis. The results showed that most community members have a good perception of the ecological functions of mangrove forests; however, the level of participation and active engagement in conservation activities remains relatively low. The ANOVA analysis revealed that education level, length of residence, and income significantly influence community perception and participation in mangrove ecosystem management, while age and occupation do not show a significant effect. This study provides empirical evidence that community-based socio-economic empowerment programs are a key strategy to support sustainable mangrove conservation in the coastal areas of North Sumatra.

Abstract

Biodiversity is one of the important components in maintaining the balance of ecosystems and environmental sustainability. However, the low awareness of students towards environmental conservation is still a problem that needs to be considered in biology learning. This study aimed to determine the relationship between the level of knowledge about biodiversity and students’ attitudes toward conservation in Grade X of SMA Negeri 2 Medan, Academic Year 2025/2026. The method used in this study was quantitative research with a correlational approach. The population consisted of 426 students, while the sample consisted of 70 students. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling. The instruments used were multiple-choice tests to measure the level of biodiversity knowledge, as well as multiple-choice tests and observation sheets to measure students’ attitudes toward conservation. Data analysis was conducted using the Pearson Product Moment correlation test. The results of this study indicated that there was a significant relationship between the level of knowledge about biodiversity and students’ attitudes toward conservation. The correlation coefficient value of 0.733 indicated that the relationship between the two variables was categorized as strong and had a positive direction.

Abstract

Critical thinking skills are one of the essential 21st-century competencies that students must possess. However, in practice, during classroom learning at SMAN 17 Medan, students’ critical thinking skills are still relatively low due to the teacher-centered learning model being used. Therefore, a learning model that can encourage students to think critically is needed, one of which is the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model.This study aims to determine the effect of the Problem-Based Learning model on students’ critical thinking skills. The research employed a quantitative method with an ex post facto research design, using a One Group Pretest-Posttest design. The sampling technique applied was purposive sampling. The research sample consisted of two classes, namely Class X-7 and Class X-8, both of which were treated with the same learning model, Problem-Based Learning, with a total of 70 students. The research instrument used to measure students’ critical thinking skills was an essay test. The results showed that the critical thinking skill scores in Class X-7 were 81.47 and in Class X-8 were 81.18. Data analysis using the paired sample t-test showed a significance value of 0.00 (Sig. < 0.05). Based on the results, it can be concluded that the implementation of the Problem-Based Learning model has a significant effect on the critical thinking skills of tenth-grade students in the subject of ecosystem components and their interactions at SMAN 17 Medan.

Abstract

Seeing the low student learning outcomes at SMA Negeri 3 Kisaran, it is necessary to select a learning model that can improve student learning outcomes. This study aims to determine the effect of Problem Based Learning on student learning outcomes on Environmental Pollution Material in Class X SMA Negeri 3 Kisaran Academic Year 2024/2025. This study uses a quantitative research method with an ex post facto research type. The research design used is one group pretest-posttest. The research sample was determined through a purposive sampling technique. The research sample consisted of two classes, namely Class X-2 and Class X-4 with the same treatment, namely using the Problem Based Learning model, each class consisting of 36 students. The research instrument was a multiple choice test consisting of 20 validated questions. Data analysis used prerequisite tests and t-tests (paired sample t-test). Based on the results of the data analysis, there was a significant influence on student learning outcomes in the two classes with the same treatment where (sig (2-tailed)) <0.05 where the results obtained were <0.001 <0.005. Based on the hypothesis test, it was found that there was an Effect of the Implementation of the Problem Based Learning model on Student Learning Outcomes in Class X of SMA Negeri 3 Kisaran in the 2024/2025 Academic Year. Thus, the implementation of the Problem Based Learning model was proven to be effective in improving student learning outcomes and was able to foster students' curiosity and thinking skills during the learning process.
