Abstract

This study aims to determine students learning difficulties in analyzing the material Biotechnology in view of the indicator. This research is descriptive quantitative study population of SMA as Rokan downstream terdir from SMAN 11 with a sample of as many as 644 people overall. The sampling technique used random sampling techniques. The data collection technique is a multiple-choice test instrument, for trouble indicator boteknologi materials, the data is processed by using a percentage. Judging from the indicators difficulties, learning difficulties on indicators derived their understanding of basic principles of biotechnology and 49.90%, explain the science related to biotechnology 46.44%, explaining the differences of traditional and modern biotechnology 52.23%, 67,44%  Explaining the process of genetic engineering %, explaining 63.44% tissue culture process, explain the process of gene recombinant 63.07%, 48,60%  describes an example of genetic engineering, explained the impact of the use of biotechnology 48.06%, describes the impact of using genetically engineered 63,17%.

Abstract

This research aimed to determined; (1) the level of student’ knowledge  on biotechnology subject matter; (2) the level student’ completeness on biotechnology subject matter. This research was descriptive qualitative research. The population of this research were grade  XII student from 5 senior high school in Binjai including SMA Negeri 1, SMA Negeri 2, SMA Negeri 4, SMA Negeri 6, SMA Negeri 7. Samples were chosen by using random sampling technique. Data were collecting using instrument of diagnostic test mastery on matter biotechnology and interview. The data were analyzed using descriptive percentage. Result from this research showed: (1) the average level of student’ knowledge  on biotechnology subject matter was  68,15 (SD±15,24) and categorized as good. (2) the level of student’ completeness on biotechnology subject matter was (36,32%). Based on the result of this research it can concluded the level of knowledge of students is actegorized as good but still important to improve the level of knowledge and attitude learning difficulties for more goodness result.

Abstract

This research aimed to determine the effect of learning model on: science process skills in SMA Negeri 1 Langsa. The research applied experimental queasy method research with 3 classes which were using by cluster randome technique. Class A learnt with problem based learning model, class B with  guided discovery lerning model, while class C (control) learnt with conventional lerning model. the data analysis technique used Covariat Analysis (ANACOVA) at the level of significance α = 0,05 by using SPSS 21.0. The result showed: there was significant effect of learning models on student’s science process skill (F = 50.953; P = 0.00). student’s science process skill learnt by problem based learning (84.5 ± 5.3) significantly higher than guided discovery (75.30 ± 7.7), and conventional learning models (65.90 ± 8.1).

Abstract

This study was aimed to determine the effect of problem based learning and group investigation on: (1) learning outcomes; and (2) creative thinking ability of student in class XI of SMAN 1 Muara Batu. This type of research is a quasi-experimental research with pretest-posttest control group design. Samples were selected using random cluster sampling technique and divided into experimental and control classes. Class XI IPA3 was applied problem-based learning model,  class XI IPA1 was applied to the model group investigation, and class XI IPA2 was applied in the conventional learning (control). Multiple choices were used to measure learning outcomes, while tests of creative thinking skills in the form of essay questions. Data were analyzed using Analysis Covarian (Anacova) at significance level α = 0.05 and followed by Tukeys test with SPSS 21.0. The results showed that: (1) There was an effect of learning model to the learning outcomes of students (F = 14.183, P = 0.000). Students who were taught by problem-based learning model was significantly different from those of group investigation and conventional learning model; and (2) There was an effect of learning model to students creative thinking abilities (F = 12.030, P = 0.000). Students who were taught by problem-based learning model was not significantly different from the group investigation model but differed significantly with students who were taught by conventional learning model.

Abstract

The objective of this research was to observe the pedagogic, professional, personal, and social competence of high school biology teachers in Batu Bara district. The population in this research were all of biology teacher in high school of Batu Bara district as many 22 people. Samples were taken by purposive sampling with a sample of 22 teachers, 90 students from 9 schools were each taken 10 students, 3 lecturers as validator expert. This research was conducted by using descriptive qualitative. Data were collected using questionnaire of observation, test comprehension, student assessment, teacher and student questionnaires. The results showed that pedagogic competence was appropriate, with the highest result in the mastery of the learning (4,85±0,357) and pre-learning (4,32±0,862) but still in appropriate criteria, from the test given to teachers on average 57,72 % of teachers can answer the test given by the highest score successfully answered 39 questions with 78% comprehension level of the lowest value just answer 11 questions with a level of comprehension 22%.In the professional competence of the teaching materials scored significantly higher values ​​(116.05 ± 6.973) and the lowest value (38.91 ± 3.350) suggesting that teacher professional attitude towards the teaching materials they provide.The results of a questionnaire assessment of teachers and students questionnaire also showed the results of personal competence and social competence biology teacher in Batu Bara District was very well.At the personal competence, the average value of the total aspects of the assesment (77.68 ± 5.867) and assessment of students with an average value (89.77 ± 4.350), and on the social competence, the mean value of the total aspects of the assessment (85.09 ± 3.829 ) on the teacher questionnaire, as well as the mean value (87.53 ± 3.706) in the student questionnaire.This study has implications for the importance of sustainable development for high school biology teachers in Batu Bara district.

Abstract

This research aim to investigate the effect of learning model to students learning outcomes in environmental pollution subject matter. This research method was quasi experimental design with pretest and posttest control group design. Research population in this research was the whole Grade X students in SMA Negeri 1 Bendahara academic year 2015/2016 as much as 120 students. Samples of this research were 3 regular classes of Grade X with total 90 students. Samples of this research were choosen based on special criteria (purpossive sampling). Data were collected using test instrument. Data analysis technique was using analysis of covarians. The result of study showed that there was a significant effect of learning models (project and problem based learning) to students outcome. (Fcount = 16,46; P = 0,00). Based on this study result, it can be concluded that students outcome which taught using project based learning model was higher than problem based learning and convensional learning models.

Abstract

The Effect of Inquiry and Cooperative Learning Model On Students Cognitive Skills in  Animalia Topic in SMA Negeri 11  Medan. A Thesis. Medan: Postgraduate Program State University of Medan, 2016.This research aims to determine the effect of the learning model on: (1) Students Cognitive Skills in SMA Negeri 11 Medan. The research applied experimental queasy method research with 3 classes which were choosing by using cluster random sampling technique. The class X7 learn with inquiry learning model, class X8 with cooperative (Group Investigation) learning model, and while class X9 (control) with conventional learning model. The research instrument were the test of cognitive skills in essay test. The data analysis technique used Covariat Analysis at the level of significance α = 0.005 by using SPSS 21.0. The results showed that: (1) there was significant effect of learning model on students’ cognitive skills (F= 15.916; P= 0.000). The cognitive skills learn by inquiry learning model (87.46±5.404) is significant higher than cooperative (Group Investigation) learning model (83.13 ± 6.509), and conventional learning model (79.73±6.329). The study imply that expected to the teachers to be able to conduct inquiry and cooperative (Group Investigation) learning in Animalia topic as the effort to improve the cognitive skills.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationships between: (1) Achievement motivation; (2) Interest; (3) Carefullness of parents toward biology cognitive learning outcome; (4) Achievement motivation and interest; (5) Achievement motivation and carefullness of parents; (6) Interest and carefullness of parents together on biology cognitive learning outcome. This study was conducted at SMA Sekecamatan Medan Kota. The study method using is correlational descriptive with study sample as much as 275 students’ who are by purposive sampling that’s are SMA Negeri 5 as much as 138 students’, SMA Negeri 6 as much as 65 students’, and SMA Negeri 10 as much as 72 students’. The study instrument using questionnaire of achievement motivation with total 30 statement, questionnaire of interest with total 20 statement, questionnaire of carefullness of parents with total 25 statement, whereas value of biology cognitive learning outcome resulted from biology result semester I which there are in each school. Analysis techniques used is correlation with the help program SPSS 21.0 for windows. The stuy result shows that there are significant relationship between: (1) Achievement motivation toward biology cognitive learning outcome (r=0,536 ; p=0,000); (2) Interest toward biology cognitive learning outcome (r=0,482 ; p=0,000); (3) Carefullness of parents toward biology cognitive learning outcome (r=0,250 ; p=0,000); (4) Achievement motivation and interest together on biology cognitive learning outcome (r=0,603 ; p=0,000); (5) Achievement motivation and carefullness of parents together on biology cognitive learning outcome (r=0,546 ; p=0,000); (6) Interest and carefullness of parents together on biology cognitive learning outcome (r=0,499 ; p=0,000).

Abstract

This study aims to determine; (1) The number of students who completed the material Biotechnology; (2) Analyze the indicator most elusive . This research is descriptive qualitative, the population of the research students of SMP Negeri 5 in the city Padangsidimpuan, representing 11 SMP is in the City Padangsidimpuan. Namely SMP Negeri 2 Padangsidimpuan, SMP Negeri 4 Padangsidimpuan, SMP Negeri 8 Padangsidimpuan, SMP Negeri 9 Padangsidimpuan, SMP Negeri 10 Padangsidimpuan. Based on the results of tests mastery of biotechnology research shows that as many as 151 students who completed (45.62%) of the total 331 students and 180 students were not completed (54.38%). Based on the sub material having difficulty in tissue culture material (43.73%), media hydroponics and aeroponics (39.15%), recombination (32.05%), food biotechnology products (27.04%), and the impact of biotechnology by (23.09%). Meanwhile, based on indicators that have trouble distinguishing conventional food biotechnology products and modern (18.91%), identifying the benefits of biotechnology (30.25%), giving a few examples of the manufacture of food and beverages with the use of conventional biotechnology (30.49%), making simple food biotechnology products that can be used in everyday life (29.16%), sort the steps of making a tissue culture (13.92%), identify the process and the advantages and disadvantages of undertaking a tissue culture (51.67%), identified process and the advantages and disadvantages do hydroponics (44.27%), describe how to grow crops with aeroponic media (35.31%), identifying the gene recombination products with new properties that we want (32.03%), and identifies the impact of biotechnology (22.03%).

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitia:n ini adalah mendapatkan beberapa genotipe planlet (tanaman) padi ladang asalKepulauan Nias tenggang Al dan pH rendah hasil pengujian kultur in vitro. Untuk mencapai tujuanpenelitian ini digunakan metode: 1) metode peningkatan keragaman somaklonal melalui kultur kalusiradiasi sinar gamma (Edi, 2004), 2) uji pada kultur in vitro menggunakan komposisi media MS yangdimodifikasi (Van Sint Jan et al., 1997). Basil pembahasan diperoleh: (I) Kultur kalus dan iradiasisinar gamma dapat meningkatkan keragaman penampilan kalus yang terlihat dari wama kalus (mulaidari warna kuning, kuning keputihan, putih kekuningan, bening atau tidak), struktur kalus (kompak,kompak tidak merata, friable, nodul jelas atau tidak); (2) kalus dengan penampilan putih kekuningan,bening, friabel dan nodul yangjelas akan memberikan kalus bertunas lebih banyak; dan (3) didapat 23genotipa tanaman padi tenggang dari varietas Nias-L
