Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the use of audio visual media on the interest of learning biology of students on plantae material in the class X Private High School Amal Bakti Medan in the 2016/2017 academic year. The type of this research is descriptive research. The subject of this research is the students of grade X of Private High School Amal Bakti. Samples used 38 students of class X. The research instrument used is a test about questionnaire as many as 30 questions with closed answer. The use of audio visual media in the learning process affect the interest of learning student on the subject of biology on Plantae material. The results of this study indicate that overall students experience increased interest in learning of 4.12% after the learning process in aids with audio-visual media in the form of learning videos. And the indicators used to measure interest in learning, namely pleasure (13.1%), curiosity (4.7%), interest (5.7%), comfort (1%) and student enthusiasm (3, 9%) towards biology teachers and biology lessons.Keyword: audio visual media, interest learning, Plantae

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kondisi sarana laboratorium biologi apakah sesuai standarPermendiknas No.24 Tahun 2007 di SMA Negeri se-Kabupaten Pakpak Bharat. Penelitian ini menggunakanmetode deskriptif yaitu menggambarkan dan menjelaskan data berdasarkan apa adanya kenyataandilapangan. Hasil analisi data pada SMA N. 1 Salak menunjukkan alat/sarana laboratorium biologi dari 39 itemyang menjadi penilaian, seluruhnya telah terpenuhi dan dimiliki sesuai dengan Permendiknas No.24 tahun2007 tentang standar sarana dan prasarana laboratorium. Persentase dari kelengkapan alat yang dimiliki SMAN 1 Salak berdasarkan hasil penelitian yang diperoleh sebesar 100%. Hasil analisis data pada SMA N 1 Kerajaanmenunjukkan alat/sarana laboratorium biologi dari 39 item yang menjadi penilaian, terdapat beberapaalat/sarana praktikum yang tidak terpenuhi dan belum dimiliki sesuai dengan Permendiknas No.24 tahun 2007tentang sarana dan prasaran laboratorium. Persentase dari kelengkapan alat yang dimiliki SMA N 1 Kerajaanberdasarkan hasil penelitian yang diperoleh sebesar 94,87%. Hasil analisis data pada SMA N 1 Tinadamenunjukkan alat/sarana laboratorium biologi dari 39 item yang menjadi penilaian, terdapat beberapaalat/sarana praktikum yang tidak terpenuhi dan belum dimiliki sesuai dengan Permendiknas No.24 tahun 2007tentang sarana dan prasarana laboratorium. Persentase dari kelengkapan alat yang dimiliki SMA N 1 Tinadaberdasarkan hasil penelitian yang diperoleh sebesar 89,74%.Kata Kunci : Sarana Laboratorium Biologi

Abstract

The objective of this study is to know difficulties rate of students on biology subjects. This study isquantitative descriptive research. The sample was taken in total sampling involved comprising 34 students asGrade X IPA-1, another 34 students Grade X IPA-2, still 33 students grade X IPA-3, also 33 students Grade X IPA-4,and 31 students Grade X IPA-5. The instrument of provided questionnaire paper with 40 questions. The resultindicated that students got difficulties to study on each . The internal factor as causes go difficulties of students instudying known as factor of intelligence, attention of students, motivation, interest, health as well as. While,external factor cause the students got difficulties in studying seemly tool for learning, environmental, media,method/ strategic done by teacher, and parents.Keywords: learning difficulties

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kesulitan belajar siswa pada mata pelajaran biologi. Jenispenelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriftif kuantitatif. Sampel digunakan secara Total Sampling yang meliputi, 34orang siswa kelas X IPA-1, 34 orang siswa kelas X IPA -2, 33 orang siswa kelas X IPA-3, 33 orang siswa kelas X IPA-4,dan 31 orang siswa kelas X IPA-5. Instrumen penelitian lembar angket sebanyak 40 pertanyaan. Hasil penelitianmenunjukkan bahwa siswa mengalami kesulitan belajar pada setiap aspek. Faktor internal yang menjadi penyebabkesulitan belajar siswa adalah faktor intelegensi, perhatian siswa, motivasi, minat, kesehatan. Sedangkan faktoreksternal yang menyebabkan siswa mengalami kesulitan belajar adalah alat pelajaran, lingkungan sekolah, media,metode/strategi mengajar guru, orangtua.Kata kunci : kesulitan belajar

Abstract

Dug well water is a source of clean water that is used by 99.39% of the residents of Sido Makmur Village, Kuala District, Langkat District to meet their daily needs. The majority of people who have cow pens around dug wells trigger the importance of conducting microbiological water quality research, given the existence of dug wells that are very vulnerable to cow manure contamination. Therefore the research sample was taken based on the distance of the dug well with a cattle pen that is less than 5 meters. Five samples from Inpres Hamlet, Petak Dua Hamlet, Handayani Hamlet, Sidorejo Hamlet and Mandailing Hamlet were tested using the Most Probable Number (MPN) method in the North Sumatra Province Health Laboratory, to determine the presence of Coliform and Escherichia coli through the estimation test, assertion test , and test the completeness and coloring of grams. Then a biochemical reaction test is performed to confirm the presence of Escherichia coli. The results showed that all dug well water samples with sample codes ASG 01, ASG 02, ASG 03, ASG 04 and ASG 05 were positively polluted by Coliform through assertion tests with total Coliform exceeding the 80% threshold and below the threshold of 20% based on Minister of Health Regulation No. 416 / MENKES / PER / IX / 1990 concerning Requirements and Supervision of Water Quality. Then there is also the content of Escherichia coli in the five samples which exceeds the established threshold, the positive results of E.coli have also been strengthened through the results of gram staining and biochemical reaction tests. Therefore the dug well water samples tested are not feasible or do not meet the microbiological quality requirements for clean water.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa kelas X MIPA SMA Swasta PAB 8 Saentis pada materi Keanekaragaman Hayati. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan jenis penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas X MIPA SMA Swasta PAB 8 Saentis tahun ajaran 2022/2023 dengan jumlah sampel sebanyak 70 siswa. Teknik pengumpulan data penelitian ini dengan menggunakan instrument test berupa soal essay. Soal yang digunakan dalam pengumpulan data dikembangkan berdasarkan indikator kemampuan berpikir kritis menurut ennis meliputi indikator memberikan penjelasan sederhana, membangun keterampilan dasar, menyimpulkan, memberikan penjelasan lanjut, mengatur strategi dan taktik. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian yang diperoleh bahwa rata-rata kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa berada dalam kategori rendah.

Abstract

Kombucha is a fermented beverage that has been gaining popularity due to its health benefits, such as its antioxidant and probiotic content. One of the main ingredients in making kombucha is tea, and the type of tea used significantly affects the quality of the final product. This study aimed to determine the effect of using black tea on the growth of SCOBY (Symbiotic Culture of Bacteria and Yeast) and the organoleptic quality of kombucha. The research was conducted experimentally at the Microbiology Laboratory of Universitas Negeri Medan in April–May 2025. Kombucha was fermented for six days with a black tea solution to which sugar and a starter culture were added. The parameters observed included SCOBY growth (thickness and diameter) and organoleptic quality (taste, aroma, and color), which were assessed by ten panelists. The results showed an increase in SCOBY thickness from 0.5 cm to 0.8 cm and diameter from 12 cm to 15 cm. Organoleptic tests indicated that black tea kombucha tends to have a sour taste, a moderately strong aroma, and a yellowish-brown to brown color. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that black tea positively influences SCOBY growth and produces kombucha with good sensory quality that is acceptable to the panelists.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of fermentation duration on the quality of cucumber pickles (Cucumis sativus L.). Cucumber pickles are fermented products involving lactic acid bacteria (LAB) activity, which enhances sensory attributes and nutritional value. A descriptive method was employed using three fermentation durations: 3, 5, and 7 days. Observed parameters included pH changes, color variation, and organoleptic tests (appearance, aroma, taste, texture, and flavor balance). The results indicated that 5-day fermentation provided the best overall quality, particularly in aroma, taste, and flavor balance, while 3-day fermentation showed better appearance and texture. Conversely, 7-day fermentation significantly reduced organoleptic quality. The study concluded that fermentation time significantly affects pickle quality, with the optimal fermentation period occurring on the fifth day.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the impact of the Project Based Learning model on learning outcomes and activities in the excretory system material among XI IPA SMA Negeri 2 Tanjung Morawa. This research employs a quantitative method with a true experimental approach. The research design used is a pretest-posttest control group design. The population of the study includes all XI IPA SMA Negeri 2 Tanjung Morawa, consisting of three classes. The research sample was selected using simple random sampling technique, resulting in XI IPA 2 as the experimental class and XI IPA 3 as the control class. The research results indicate a significant difference in students' learning outcomes, with the experimental class showing higher scores compared to the control class. The recapitulation of students' learning activities data reveals differences in learning activities between the two classes. The learning activities of students in the experimental class fall into the very high category, while the learning activities in the control class are in the high category.
