This study was intended to find out: (1) the students’ ability to construct the English Noun Phrase; (2) the causes of inaccuracy to construct English Noun Phrase. This study applied descriptive design. The samples of this study consisted of 40 students of the fifth semester of English Department. The data of this study were collected through the test. The data were analyzed by using descriptive statistics. Depending on the statistical results, the findings revealed that the students used 32 forming patterns of Noun Phrase which were covered in accuracy and inaccuracy construction. Those kinds of Noun Phrase patterns were identifier, adjective, noun modifier, quantifier, preposition phrase, participle clause, using conjunctions, and indefinite clause that all of the patterns were headed by Noun. The higher percentage of students’ accuracy to construct Noun Phrase was the pattern of identifier+Head, i.e., 27.4% meanwhile the higher percentage of students’ inaccuracy to construct Noun Phrase was the pattern of quantifier+Head, i.e., 17.6%. Besides, it is found that the causes of inaccuracy which are made by students in constructing Noun Phrase were classified into 11 categories, i.e., misused of identifier, misused of quantifier, misused of noun, omission of identifier, misordering, misused of plural, misused of singular, misformation, misused of word choice, omission of relative pronoun, and misused of adjective. The higher percentage of inaccuracy in constructing noun phrase was misused of singular, i.e., 17.4%.

STUDENTS’ VOCABULARY ACHIEVEMENT BY USING LIST GROUP LABEL Junaid Junaid

The research aimed to find out the improvement of the students’ vocabulary mastery by List Group Label (LGL) at the first year students of SMP Nasional Makassar in 2011/2012 Academic Year. The researcher used a classroom action research method with the cycle I and cycle II design, where each cycle consisted of four meetings. It employed vocabulary test instrument. A number of subjects of the research were 25 students in the first year class. They consisted of 12 women and 13 men. The research took real data from the school to know the students’ vocabulary mastery. The research findings indicated that using List Group Label (LGL) could improve the students’ nouns from cycle I to cycle II, whereas in cycle I the students’ achievement in nouns was 57.70%, but after evaluation in cycle II, the students’ nouns became 73.80%. On the other hand, the students’ verbs developed too from cycle I to cycle II, wherein cycle I the students’ achievement in verbs was 57.60%, but after evaluation in cycle II, the students’ verbs became 74.60%. The findings indicated that there was the improvement in the students’ vocabulary mastery from cycle I to cycle II, wherein cycle I the students’ vocabulary mastery was 57.70%, but after evaluation in cycle II, the students’ vocabulary mastery became 74.20%. THE STUDENTS’ SPEAKING ABILITY WITH (ICARE) MODEL Junaid Junaid

The research aimed at finding out the improvement of students’ speaking ability by using Introduction, Connection, Application, Reflection, Extend (ICARE) Model at Class VIII.B in MTs. Muallimin Muhammadiyah Makassar. The method of this research was Classroom Action Research that consisted of two cycles. One cycle consisted of four meeting. It means that there were eight meeting in two cycles. This classroom action research was done at MTs. Muallimin Muhammadiyah Makassar for English subject. As subject in this research was Class VIII.B in Junior High School in 2012-2013 Academic Years with student’s number as about 29 students. Those consist of 29 women. Instruments are speaking test and observation sheet. The findings of this research were the improvement of the students’ speaking ability in terms of speaking accuracy and speaking fluency in which the mean score of diagnostic test was 5.17, the mean score of cycle I was 6.06 and the mean score of cycle II was 7.21. The result above indicated that there was significant improvement of the students’ speaking ability in terms of speaking accuracy and speaking fluency in the application of form Introductioon, Connection, Application, Reflection, Extend (ICARE) Model at class VIII.B in MTs. Muallimin Muhammadiyah Makassar.

The objectives of this research are to find out the improvement of the students’ writing ability in terms of content and organization through Venn Diagram Method at Class A students of Intensive English Class. This research used Classroom Action Research (CAR). It had conducted two cycles. Where each cycle has consisted of four meeting. It employed writing test as the instrument. The number subject of the research was 28 students and consist of 5 men and 23 women. Implementation of the first and the second cycle during the four meeting. The technique of the data collection used the cycle, based on the material being taught. Based on the findings of the research, the improvement of the students’ writing ability in content and organization were significantly improved. Where the mean score in content was 7.79 and mean score in the organization was 7.57. It’s mean that by using Venn Diagram method can improve the students’ writing ability.Keywords: Venn Diagram, Method, Writing.

Perkembangan teknologi yang sangat pesat telah memberikan banyak manfaat bagi kemajuan dunia pendidikan. Teknologi dan media yang disesuaikan dan dirancang secara khusus akan memberikan kontribusi bagi pengajaran yang efektif. Salah satu manfaat teknologi dalam dunia pendidikan adalah pembaharuan yang dilakukan untuk meningkatkan kualitas pendidikan, seperti pemanfaatan media video dalam pengajaran. Media pembelajaran yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah media video. Media video adalah media yang dapat menampilkan gambar dan suara, sehingga memudahkan bagi mahasiswa dalam belajar. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui efektivitas penggunaan media video dalam pembelajaran fonologi bahasa Indonesia. Penelitian ini adalah jenis penelitian eksperimen, menggunakan pre experimental design: one group pretest-posttest design. Desain ini melibatkan satu kelompok yang diberi pre-test, diberi treatment dan diberi post-test. Keberhasilan treatment ditentukan dengan membandingkan nilai pre-test dan nilai post-test. Instrumen yang digunakan berupa tes dengan bentuk soal pilihan ganda. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan, yaitu uji normalitas dan uji-t. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa media video efektif digunakan dalam pembelajaran fonologi.

The study aims to find out whether or not the use of UVIOPro is effective to improve the students’ writing skill, particularly in terms of content, organization, and mechanics. This study applied a Quasi-Experimental design. The sample of this study was the second semester students of English Education department at Faculty of Teacher Training and Education at University of Muhammadiyah Makassar in academic year 2014/2015. Therefore, the sample was determined with a cluster random sampling by applying a lottery technique. Hence, it consisted of 60 students divided in two groups. The data were collected through writing test, which consisted of pretest and posttest. The data were analyzed by using descriptive and inferential statistics through SPSS version 20. The findings show that the students’ writing skill, particularly in terms of content, organization, and mechanics improved after giving the treatments. The results of t-test analysis for the students’ score improvement in terms of content and organization in experimental and control groups reveals that Sig. (2-tailed) is less than (α) = 0.05. Based on the findings, it can be concluded that the use of UVIOPro in teaching writing was effective to improve the students’ writing skill in terms of content, organization, and mechanics.

Penelitian ini dikaukan untuk mengembangkan bahan ajar semantik berbasis multimedia dengan menggunakan Google Sites dan mengevaluasi efektivitasnya dalam meningkatkan pemahaman dan motivasi mahasiswa dalam belajar. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat memberikan kontribusi yang signifikan dalam peningkatan kualitas pendidikan melalui pemanfaatan teknologi, khususnya dalam pengembangan bahan ajar yang inovatif dan interaktif. Penelitian ini termasuk Research & Development (R&D) dengan menggunakan model 4D (Desain, Define, Development, Desiminate). Subjek uji coba dalam penelitian ini adalah 30 orang mahasiswa dan 2 orang dosen Prodi Pendidikan Bahasa dan Sastra Indonesia. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan wawancara, observasi, angket dan tes. Analisis data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah teknik analisis data kuantitatif. Penelitian ini menggunakan one group pretest posttest design. Dari hasil validasi bahan ajar, diketahui bahwa bahan ajar semantik berbasis multimedia dengan Google Sites memenuhi kriteria sangat valid dengan rerata nilai 90, sedangkan hasil belajar mahasiswa secara keseluruhan yaitu, nilai 28 orang mahasiswa dinyatakan tuntas dengan persentase 90,3%, dan nilai 2 orang mahasiswa dinyatakan tidak tuntas dengan persentase 9,7% dengan demikian bahan ajar semantik berbasis multimedia dengan Google Sites dinyatakan efektif digunakan dalam proses pembelajaran. Bahan ajar semantik berbasis multimedia mendapat respons positif dari dosen dan mahasiswa, sehingga penggunaan google sites dalam pembelajaran dinyatakan praktis

Pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini difokuskan pada pendampingan dan pelatihan pembuatan materi ajar berbasis multimedia dengan google sites bagi guru SD Inpres Andi Tonro/Jongaya. Tujuan yang ingin dicapai pada Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat ini yaitu: 1) untuk meningkatkan kemampuan guru dalam menyusun materi ajar dengan multimedia, 2) memberikan pemahaman dan pengalaman pada guru dalam menyusun materi ajar dengan google sites. Metode yang digunakan untuk mencapai tujuan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat ini adalah melalui ceramah, pelatihan dan pendampingan. Materi-materi terkait pelatihan disampaikan melalui ceramah dan diskusi. Pendampingan pelatihan dilaksanakan dalam praktik membuat materi ajar dengan google sites. Kegiatan ini secara keseluruan mendapatkan hasil yang baik dan memuaskan. Melalui kegiatan ini guru memiliki kemampuan dalam menyusun bahan ajar berbasis multimedia. Beberapa komponen yang berhasil dicapai dalam pelaksanaan kegiatan ini adalah tercapainya tujuan kegiatan, yaitu guru SD Inpres Andi Tonro/Jongaya mampu membuat/menyusun materi ajar berbasis multimedia dengan google sites dan mampuÂ mengaplikasikan materi ajar berbasis multimedia yang telah dibuat. Â Â Abstract. This community service is focused on mentoring and training in making multimedia-based teaching materials with Google sites for SD Inpres Andi Tonro/Jongaya Elementary teachers. The objectives to be achieved in this PkM are: 1) to improve teachers' abilities in compiling teaching materials with multimedia, 2) to provide understanding and experience to teachers in compiling teaching materials with Google sites. The method used to achieve the objectives of this PKM is through lectures, training and mentoring. Materials related to the training were delivered through lectures and discussions. Training assistance is carried out in the practice of making teaching materials with Google sites. This PKM activity as a whole got good and satisfying results. Some of the components that were successfully achieved in the implementation of this activity were the achievement of activity objectives, namely SD Inpres Andi Tonro/Jongaya Elementary teachers, being able to make/compile multimedia-based teaching materials with Google sites and being able to apply multimedia-based teaching materials that had been made
