Abstract

The Students’ attitude toward Lecturers in EFL Classroom at University of Muhammadiyah of Makassar. The objectives of this research were: to find out the students’ attitude toward lecturer’s explanation at the Muhammadiyah University of Makassar. This research was employed descriptive Quantitative. The participants of this research are 40 students in B class and 1 Lecturer at the Muhammadiyah University of Makassar. The result of the research was collected through the use of Questionnaires, and then it was calculated and transcribed to be analyzed. The questionnaire that distributed to 40 students consists of 20 items close-ended and 1 open-ended question. The result showed that the students have good attitudes or not good attitude toward lecturers’ explanation at Muhammadiyah University of Makassar.

Abstract

Successful learners are enthusiastic, exhibit confident attitudes toward learning have positive expectations from it and do not experience anxiety about learning. Because the attitude toward learning one has inevitably in fluency the outcomes, the more positive attitudes one has, the better he or she performs in learning. The objectives of this research was to find out the students’ attitude toward lecturer’s explanation at Muhammadiyah University of Makassar. This research employed descriptive Quantitative. The participants of this research were 38 students in F class and 2 Lecturers at Muhammadiyah University of Makassar. The result of the research was collected through the use of Questionnaires and audio-video camera, and then it was calculated and transcribed to be analyzed. The result of research from the questionnaire that was distributed to the 38 students consists of 20 items and open ended question show The Students’ attitudes toward lectures explanation at Muhammadiyah University of Makassar were good attitude (82).It was the students’ students’ attitude toward lecturer’s explanation in EFL classroom at University Muhammadiyah of Makassar is positive. The Students have positive attitude toward lecturer in presenting the material in the classroom. Besides that, they perceive that teacher’s explanation that showed by the lecturer are prepare, enthusiasm, summarizing, good explanation, sympathy, friendly. Good characteristics of lecturers’ explanation in EFL classroom at University Muhammadiyah of Makassar. The lecturers always make a good explanation in presenting the materials, namely; prepare before teaching, giving the example from simple to complicated, the lecturers always checking understanding of the students, explaining the material more than one if the material is difficult, and making summarizing of the end in teaching process.

Abstract

Kampanye Pelestarian Permainan Tradisional Anak (bugis Makassar) propinsi Sulawesi Selatan. Ketidaklestariannya permainan tradisional anak (Bugis Makassar) seperti; maccukke’/accangke, bulang-bulang/patte’-patte’, mallogo, mangasing/asing-asing, tander-tander/himen-himen, massanto’, maddende/dende-dende ma’boy/a’gebo’, lambasena/lompat karet, beklan/bekkel dan maggoli’/kelereng. Ini menjadi bagian besar tanggung jawab para pemuda untuk terus mengkampanyekan tentang tradisi rakyat Bugis Makassar yang mempunyai filosofi hidup didalamnya. Pengusul melihat bahwa Permainan tradisional sangat perlu dilaksanakan secara sustainability atau berkelanjutan, sehingga pada nantinya anak-anak mampu memahami dan mengaplikasikan nilai-nilai edukatif yang berdampak pada pengembangan karakter mereka. Tahap pelaksanaan dalam program pengabdian Masyarakat IbM Kampanye Pelestarian permainan tradisional anak menggunakan konsep Metode School Visit, dimana tim relawan dari setiap komunitas mitra akan bersama-sama memformulasikan beberapa sekolah TK dan SMP di yang ada di kota Makassar dan Parepare. Kedua Mitra mempresentasikan tentang permainan tradisional bugis Makassar dan mengajak siswa siswi untuk mempraktekkan permainan tradisonal. Selain itu, kedua tim juga akan melakuka seminar tentang “permainan tradisional bugis makassar”, dalam seminar ini pesertanya adalah guru, orangtua siswa, dan murid. Target luaran yang diharapkan seperti, 1) Memperkenalkannya kembali kepada anak tentang permainan tradisional anak (Bugis Makassar) Sulawesi Selatan. 2) Melatih interaksi sosial anak, dengan melalui permainan tradisional anak akan belajar berinteraksi sosial dengan teman-temannya, hal ini tentunya sangat baik bagi perkembangan anak. 3) Membangun Gerakan Sosial secara massif dalam menjaga pelestarian permainan tradisional anak. 4) Menanamkan nilai – nilai filosofi permainan tradisional kepada anak, sehingga berdampak pada perkembangan karakter diri anak.

Abstract

Online learning is one form of implementation of learning in industry 4.0 era. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of the implementation of the learning system on the higher students’ academic achievement. This research is experimental research, with a pretest-posttest control group design. The purpose of this design is to reveal whether online learning systems can affect students' academic achievement or not that's measured through the learning outcomes of biology education students at the concept of structure and transport of cell membranes in the University of Muhammadiyah Makassar. Based on analyzed data, it shows the difference in the increase of students' learning outcomes taught by the online learning system and without using an online learning system. Based on the findings of this study, students who are taught by online learning system get a higher score of learning outcomes. It can be said that there is an effect of the online learning system toward students’ academic achievement.

Abstract

This research aimed to find out the improvement of the students’ writing ability in term of grammar covering simple past tense and past continuous tense and vocabulary covering verb and noun, especially in recount text at the eighth-grade students of SMP Unismuh Makassar. The researcher used a classroom action research (CAR) which was conducted in two cycles where each cycle consisted of four meetings and the application consisted of four steps namely planning, action, observation, and reflection. The technique of collecting data is writing test and observation and technique of data analysis is quantitative. The number of the research subject was 26 students in class VIIIB and all the students were male. The research findings indicated that using FAIES method could improve the students writing ability in terms of grammar and vocabulary. It was proved by the students’ mean score in the test of cycle II, the result was (75.25) which increased 15.15 % from the cycle I mean score (60.1). It was highly increased from a diagnostic test (D – test) mean score (48.2). The students’ achievement in cycle II indicated that it had met the researcher score target (75) where the classification of students’ score was 4 students got excellent score where the percentage was 15.4%, 11 students got good score where the percentage was 42.3%, 10 students got fair score where the percentage was 38.5% and 1 student got poor score where the percentage was 3.8%. Based on the findings of the research above, the researcher concluded that FAIES method were successful in improving the students’ writing ability covering grammar and vocabulary for recount text at the eighth-grade students of SMP Unismuh Makassar class VIIIB .Keyword: FAIES, develop, writing, ability

Abstract

The objective of this research was to find out whether the use of tongue twister technique can improve students’ pronunciation especially in pronouncing sound /ð/, /d/, /θ/, /t/, /ᶴ/, and /s/ or not.The method of this research was pre-experimental with pre-test and post-test as an instrument of the research. The population of the research was the eleventh grade of SMP 2 Sungguminasa that consisted of 63 students. The number of samples was 33 students. The data collection consisted of pre-test, treatment and post-test. Forms of pre-test and post-test were oral test that contained 18 words that related with the focus sounds.The findings of the research showed that the students’ mean score of pre-test before treatment was 63.09%. While after treatment, the mean score of post-test was 86.81%. Therefore, the significant between pre-test and post-test was 37.59%. In order that, the researcher assumed that using tongue twister technique could improve students’ pronunciation correctly especially in pronouncing sound /ð/, /d/, /θ/, /t/, /ᶴ/, and /s/.

Abstract

English Textbook is the one important thing for teaching English in the school. Thus, the teacher should know that English textbook function and the philosophical foundation. This study aimed to find out the philosophical foundation of Buku Bahasa Inggris for Senior High Schools Grade XII 2018 revision. This study used content analysis inferential. The object of the study was English textbook “Buku Bahasa Inggris” for Vocational High School grade XII 2018 revision. The step of the study began to read the English textbook, making note, coding the data, collecting the data, categorize and classify and analysis. Sample of this textbook were 4 chapters of 11 chapters that were chapter 1,2,3 and 5. Inferential data of this study that found by using construct analysis. The result of construct analysis show some conclusion. Based on analysis content inferential, the researcher found six of philosophical foundation of English textbook of Buku Bahasa Inggris for Vocational High School Grade XII 2018 revision. They were Progressivism, Social Reconstruction, Humanism, Existentialism, Perennialism, and Essentialism. Thus, Progressivism, Social Reconstruction and Humanism were the most appearing on the English textbook “Buku Bahasa Inggris”. The researcher conclude that the English textbook applied student centered learning and problem solving where we can find from the English textbook.

Abstract

Peranan Orang Tua dan Guru dalam Mengatasi Degradasi Moral pada Anak MA Muhammadiyah Pokobulo. jenis penelitian kualitatif deskriptif dengan menggunakan pendekatan sosiologi dan pendekatan psikologi yang bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana peranan orang tua dan guru dalam mengatasi degradasi moral pada anak di MA Muhammadiyah Pokobulo lokasi penelitan ini yaitu Di kecamatan bontoramba kabupaten jeneponto. Informan kunci dalam penelitian ini adalah guru MA Muhammadiyah Pokobulo dan sebagai informan tambahan yaitu orang tua dan siswa MA Muhammadiyah Pokobulo. Pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini yaitu observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa penanan orang tua dan guru dalam mengatasi degradasi moral pada anak di MA Muhammadiyayh Pokobulo yaitu: memberikan keteladanan, orang tua dan guru memberikan keteladanan baik itu berbicara lemah lembut maupun bicara sopan santun terhadap sesama, memberikan nasehat, orang tua dan guru memberikan nasihat kepada anak jika mereka mendapati anak atau siswanya melakukan kesalahan, tentunya dengan nasihat lemah lembut. Selanjutnya melalui pembiasaan orang tua dan guru membiasakan anaknya untuk bersikap sopan santu, membiasakan tata karma kepada sesamanya serta memberikan hukuman dan penghargaan. Hambatan yang dihadapi orang tua dan guru dalam mengatasi degradasi moral pada anak di MA Muhammadiyah Pokobulo yaitu:: faktor lingkungan, lingkungan salah satu penyebab menurunnya moral anak, sehingga orang tua perlu memberikan arahan dan bimbingan kepada anak agar tidak terlalu jauh dalam melangkah. Faktor pembawaan, danpengaruh gadget. Gadget merupakan salah satu membuat menurunnya degradasi moral pada anak karena ketika orang tua atau guru tidak mengontrol apa yang mereka nonton setiap harinya maka anak bisa mengalami perubahan

Abstract

Language policy is one issue that should be highlighted because language policy is one of the most important things to develop in a country. In language, the main goal to be achieved is the successful delivery of our goals and objectives to the listener. Thus, Language policy is concerned with a highly complex issue; therefore, language policy as a separate field of study requires an interdisciplinary approach drawing upon the knowledge and tools of several academic disciplines such as applied linguistics, sociolinguistics, sociology, anthropology, and political theory. This paper aimed to suggest for Indonesia English Education based Japan and South Korea practice in ELT.
