Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of avocado seed starch as a binder to the physical characteristics of the granule that is flow rate, angle of repose and moisture content as well as to the physical characteristics of tablets that is uniformity of weight, hardness, friability and disintegration time. Root of Imperata cylindrical (Linn.) extract was obtained by remaceration process usingethanol 70 % as a solvent. Tablets were made by wet granulation method with increase the avocado seed starch concentration as binder tablet (FI: 10 %, FII: 20 %, and FIII: 30 %) then the physical characteristics of granule and tablets were tested. Data were analyzed theoretically by comparing toliterature and statisticaly using one way ANOVA with a level of confidence up to  95 %,  followed by Scheffe test. The results showed that the granule’s flow rate andangle of repose decrease byincreasing of avocado seed starch concentrations as a binder, while will increase the moist content of granules. Increasing of avocado seed starch concentration as a binder will increase the hardness and disintegration time of tablets as well, while friability of tablets are decrease and weight of tablets are more uniform.

Abstract

Kunyit memiliki banyak kegunaan dalam pengobatan, salah satunya pengobatan inflamasi yang sering diderita anak-anak seperti gusi bengkak dan radang tenggorokan sehingga kunyit merupakan pilihan tepat karena alami tanpa efek toksik. Ekstrak rimpang kunyit dibuat menjadi sediaan chewable lozenges karena lebih praktis dan menarik untuk anak-anak, namun ekstrak rimpang kunyit memiliki rasa yang pahit sehingga perlu adanya pemanis. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui karakteristik fisik dan penerimaan rasa chewable lozenges kombinasi pemanis High Fructose Syrup (HFS) dan sukrosa. Ekstrak diperoleh dari maserasi dengan etanol 96%, ekstrak diuji pendahuluan, Kromatografi Lapis Tipis (KLT), dan bebas etanol. Ekstrak dibuat menjadi chewable lozenges menggunakan metode tuang dengan kandungan pemanis HFS : sukrosa yaitu formula 1 (5:95), formula 2 (10:90), dan formula 3 (15:95). Sediaan kemudian diuji karakteristik fisiknya meliputi uji organoleptik, keseragaman bobot, kekerasan, kekenyalan, dan pH. Dilakukan juga uji penerimaan rasa, identifikasi kurkumin, dan Angka Lempeng Total (ALT) terhadap sediaan. Data penerimaan rasa dianalisis secara deskriptif dan data karakteristik fisik dianalisis anova 1 jalan. Hasil kekerasan tertinggi yaitu formula 2 dengan perbandingan HFS : sukrosa (10:90). Sediaan formula 1 memiliki pH paling asam. Kekerasan dan kekenyalan dari ketiga formula tidak berbeda signifikan (p > 0,05). Formula yang paling disukai yaitu formula 2 dan sediaan mengandung kurkumin dengan ALT < 106 sehingga memenuhi syarat.

Abstract

Piroxicam is slightly soluble, so it should be developed in a liquisolid system of tablet dosage form to increase its solubility in gastrointestinal tract. Factorial design was applied to optimize the formula of liquisolid system piroxicam tablet by using four formulas: run  I (18%A-2%B), run II (45%A-2%B), run III (18%A-5%B), and run IV (45%A-5%B). Component A is the ratio of Avicel PH 102 with Cab-O-Sil M-5P whether B is the concentration of crospovidone. Optimum formula was determined by superimposed contour plot from various parameters: hardness, friability, disintegrating time, and dissolution concentration (C45) using Design Expert software. Based on superimposed contour plot, optimum formula area was obtained in the range of 18-45 of Avicel PH 102 with Cab-O-Sil M-5P ratio and 2-5% of crospovidone concentration.
