Abstract

English in K13 insists on the teachers to be cerative. In fact. It indicates bstacles in the class due to the interpretation on its implementation. The research is a qualitative evaluative one that the researchers are the observers to two schools as the object. It is intended to see the comparison of English subject implementation on K13 focused on the integration within its practices. It also sees how and why they differ from one to another. The analyses show that (1) there are no integration done by teachers on the language skills at class in two schools. (2) The situation and condition of the school influences the practices of teaching English by integration; in one school, classes have good facilities, another school has no one. (3) English in K13 is fun for students because they use to for both schools.  (4) Teachers find difficulties in two schools especially for the assessments, asking phase in scientific approach, and composing worksheets. (5) K13 basically changes from boring to enjoyment because it implies creativity and being active for both teachers and students.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to describe the Opus Dei organization inside The Da Vinci Code movie and Opus Dei in reality. It is due to the controversies and much efforts to defend the truth against  the  movie.  This  research  uses  descriptive  qualitative  method.  The  researcher  needs  a sociology of literature by Alan Swingewood to get evidences the effect and goals of the author in creating a story. The analysis reveals that the representation of Opus Dei inside The Da Vinci Code confirms as dangerous  organization, destructive mission, a killer, and corrupted members.  It is contradiction facts far from reality that Opus Dei concerns on the serving people to keep devotion of Christian. Opus Dei is the open legal organization doing charity for better living which has mission and independent finance sources. The conclusion show that the controversies functions to get the movie’s rating raised since it deals with the mass demand in popular literature. The evidences confirm that the representation of Opus Dei inside The Da Vinci Code are negated from the reality.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to analyze an intertextuality study toward Cobalah Mengerti and My Immortal video clip. Visually, Cobalah Mengerti is similar to My Immortal, but lyrically Cobalah Mengerti is difference than My Immortal. Then, both videos are observed into allusion, reference, and plagiarism of intertextuality. The aims of the research are analyzing the similarities and differences of visual elements and Indonesia society perspective in looking at Cobalah Mengerti and My Immortal achivement.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to identify the cohesive devices and thematic progression which are constructed in texts made by ELT 7th Students of IKIP PGRI Madiun on Final Project of Psycholinguistic Class. This research is conducted by using Discourse Analysis and qualitative research approach. The type of this research is library research, using document as object. The technique of analysing data is Flow Model. This result of this research are: (1) The researcher finds that the cohesive devices which the most frequently used in all data is Reference with the total 122 reference, 5 substitution, 4 ellipsis, 86 conjunction, and 15 lexical cohesion. (2) The researcher finds that thematic progression in each data is different. Data one consists of 9 Linear TP and 8 Constant TP. Data two consists of 10 Linear TP, 7 Constant TP, 1 Split Theme, and 2 Split Rheme. Data Three consist of 4 Linear TP and 11 Constant TP. Data four consists of 18 Linear TP, 3 Constant TP, and 1 Split Rheme. And the last one is data five consists of 4 Linear TP, 2 Constant TP, and 2 Split Rheme.

Abstract

This study aims at describing the depiction of four women in Creole community which is applied as the contestation in “The Awakening” and describing the reasons of Creole women’s character contestation which related to particular purpose in that time. The writer uses the descriptive qualitative method as research design. The data is collected by using documentation. The data sources in this research are divided into two parts, primary and secondary. The primary data is novel of The Awakening. The secondary data is taken from the history of Creole society in Louisiana, journals, and the other sources from the website as the information. The base of this research is focused on Pierre Bourdieu’s concept. This concept is used to discover the problem formulation through the sociologycal view which influences the way of thinking from four Creole women. The result of this research are a) the depiction of three women reveal that women can support economic as businesswomen and even artist. Meanwhile, the other one is submissive and worship to husband due to keep the balance in the household. b) the reasons of three women reveal that the men’s authority is not important due to their basic background that support their economic through their proficiency as their manifestation to exist in the society. Meanwhile, the other one relies on the man to support her economic and a man as symbolic power. Based on the finding, the distinctive ideology as genetic structuralism which is connected to economic , politic and social background influence  their way of thinking to get the opportunity.

Abstract

This research aims to find out the racism occurs from verbal language by using Selma movie as the object. It is based on insight from Yule’s (1996) illocutionary act theory to analyze the type of Martin Lurther King’s utterances and Hymes’ (in Wardhaugh, 2006) speaking ethnography theory to analyze the context behind Martin Lurther King’s utterances. The writer finds commissive act (8%); expressive act (44%); and directive act (48%) as the illocutionary act which be used by King, and some datum of speaking ethnography without genre because genre can be found in written text only. The writer finds unity, solidarity, nationality and movement as the meanings which be categorized into racism’s representation from analysing the type and context.

Abstract

Film is one of the popular literary product that are produced to entertain. Film is the object material for this research study. This research analyzes about espionage in Salt film. It analyzes focus in Espionage that happen in the world. Espionage practices in Salt film are related closely to the espionage in the world. The aim of this research is to analyze why is the espionage still exist up to 21st century. A study of popular literature is chosen by the researcher in order to analyze the research problems. The results of the research are to show that United States is the winner of Cold War with its espionage activity. Salt is an espionage film that contains the high intelligence, secret cover, spy cases, and war of ideology. The development of espionage films where Hollywood always makes United States as the winner is the evident that espionage film is populer. The popularity of espionage films is influenced by the espionage practices in the real world. Espionage in the 21st century still occurs in some countries with difference motives. The purposes of the espionage activities are to show the superiority, power and existence of some countries especially United States as an international police in the world.

Abstract

Communication is something that to share their feeling, opinion, information, and etc to other people. In communication, they can use some variations of language when they talk to other people. That is what is called as style. Style can occur in written spoken and discourse. The style that occurs in spoken discourse is called speech style. The research is conducted to know type speech style and rhetorical strategies of Joko Widodo in APEC CEO Summit 2014. The objectives of this research are: (1) describing the type of speech style used by Joko Widodo in his speech in APEC CEO Summit 2014 and (2) analyzing rhetorical strategies in Joko Widodo speech in APEC CEO Summit 2014. The approach of the research is qualitative. Essentially, the research is descriptive qualitative. The data of the research is documentation of Joko Widodo’s speech in APEC CEO Summit 2014. Analyze data technique used by researcher is descriptively and analytically: surveys and fact – finding enquiries of different kinds and analyze these to make a critical evaluation of the material. The results of the research show: (1) the types of: formal style (45.2 %), consultative style (46.6 %), and casual style (8.2%). the highest type used by Joko Widodo is consultative style and (2) in rhetorical strategies  used by Joko Widodo using three types modes persuasion. The types of: Ethos (35.6 %), pathos (15 %), and logos (49.4%). The highest type used by Joko Widodo is Logos. Joko Widodo mostly using consultative style and logos in his speech because he is mostly doing semi – formal acrtivity than formal activity
