Abstract

This study focuses more on syntactic word order through identify the language structure of simple sentence both Indonesian and English in argumentative essay made by English education department students at University of Islam Malang and analyze it by contrastive analysis (CA). The significance of this research is to cover the students’ difficulties in academic writing process by using contrastive analysis and to identify the highlight point of the structure differences between Bahasa Indonesia (L1) and English (L2). The researcher used qualitative method by collecting 10 students’ argumentative essay both in Indonesia and in English. The results show that the common pattern occurs in the students’ argumentative essay is SVO and the other patterns are S-V(Aux)-O, NP-S-V-O, Conj-S-V-O, S-V-O-V, S-S-V-O and Conj-NP-S-V-O. While in Indonesian are Subjek-Predikat (SV), Subjek-Predikat-Objek (SVO), Subjek-Predikat-Pelengkap (SVC), Subjek-Predikat-Objek-Pelengkap (SVOC), Subjek-Predikat-Objek-Keterangan (SVOA (Adverb)), Subjek-Predikat-Keterangan (SVA), Keterangan-Predikat-Subjek(AVS), and Subjek-Predikat-Keterangan-Pelengkap (SVAC). Students tended to write the argumentative essay in English inapropiately to the theory of simple sentence structure. While in Indonesian arguementative essay, they wrote properly based on the possible pattern of simple sentence in Indonesian.

Abstract

Covid-19 merupakan penyakit infeksi pernafasan yang    dapat    ditularkan melalui percikan batuk dan bersin. Masyarakat di sekitar kampungKebalen masih terlihat   belum   terbiasa   menggunakan masker pada saat keluar rumah. Demikian juga upaya preventif pada saat keluar rumah, dengan menyediakan handsanitizer belum tercapai dengan baik dikarenakan harganya semakin meningkat tajam, serta melakukan penyemprotan agar kebersihan tetap terjaga. Tujuan dari pengabdian masayarakat ini adalah untuk memberdayakan masyarakat dalam penggunaan masker dan handsaitizer pada saat keluar rumah serta selalu menjaga kebersihan lingkungan sekitar. Metode pangabdian yaitu berupa donasi masker dan handsanitizer serta pemaparan cara pemakaiannya secara lisan, juga penyemprotan lingkungan sekitar. Hasil yang diperoleh adalah 5 orang sasaran sudah mendapatkan handsanitizer dan 5 orang mendapatkan masker dan 5 rumah yang telah dilakukan penyemrotan. Dengan demikian, masyarakat sekitar pada akhrinya dapat menggunakan masker dan perbekalan handsanitizer pada saat keluar rumah, dan lingkungan sekitar menjadi bersih.

Abstract

Pesantren emphasizes the learning on religious knowledge, based on the classical textbook given to Santri (student). Nowadays, pesantren shifts its tradition by providing English program. This shifting occurs as the effort of pesantren to face the challenges of modernization and to fulfill the demands of society. This paper discussed the comparative study of English program implementation history in rural and urban pesantren, the reasons for establishing English program, and santries’(student) response towards English program in pesantren. The result showed that the existence of English program in pesantren, both in rural and urban area, was because the demand of the society. In rural pesantren, the reason why they provided English because they wanted to develop the society surrounded pesantren which are Indonesian Migrant Worker (Tenaga Kerja Indonesia). While in urban area, they provided English program because they were focusing on the development of santries themselves to prepare for the global community.

Abstract

Designing a comprehensive course book for English for Business is a challenging endeavor that requires a deep understanding of the unique linguistic and professional needs of learners. In the rapidly evolving landscape of international business communication, educators and instructional designers face a lot of obstacles that must be addressed in order to create a truly effective and relevant course book. This study aims to create a coursebook for an English for Business class based on SKKNI in the scheme of executive administrative assistants. The instructor must construct their own coursebook because SKKNI does not give references. Most studies, however, claimed that generating ESP content is challenging due to a lack of sources, assistance, and a national curriculum. Theoretically, this research is based on Borg and Gall's RnD steps, and just 5 steps have been chosen to conduct this research. The researchers conducted expert validation to evaluate the coursebook and administered a questionnaire to students. The coursebook was judged good (73%) by expert validators with some revisions and 79% by students with several features needing improvement in various categories such as typeface, illustration, and mistyped words.

Abstract

This study investigated the influence of the learning process, human resources, and infrastructure on the pre-service teachers' competencies, particularly their pedagogical competence as future professional teachers. This study employed survey research, a type of quantitative investigation. The study's population consisted of all 182 Pre-Service Teachers from the Indonesian Language and Literature Education Department, Mathematics, and English Education Department of the Teacher Professional Education Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Universitas Islam Malang. Primary and secondary data were the two data types used in this investigation: questionnaires and documentation. The main source of information was the assessment of the lecture process in Batches 1 and 2 of the Pre-Service Teacher of Teacher Professional Education Program. The course grades from LMS courses taken by pre-service PPG students made up the secondary data. Based on the results and discussion, it can be concluded that the learning process and human resources positively influenced the pre-service teacher's competence, especially in the pre-service teacher professional education program. Meanwhile, the data showed that academic infrastructure did not impact pre-service teacher competence.

Abstract

Ketidakpedulian masyarakat Indrapuri, Kecamatan Tapung, Kabupaten Kampar, Riau terhadap rumah bibit atau rumah kaca yang diberikan oleh pemerintah setempat membuat Rumah Bibit itu terbengkalai dan tidak terurus. Padahal potensi yang dihasilkan oleh rumah bibit sangat besar mengingat masih banyaknya lahan kosong yang belum dimaksimalkan warga untuk bercocok tanam. Atas dasar dasar hal tersebut maka pengabdian masyarakat ini melakukan penggalakkan program pemanfaatan rumah bibit atau rumah kaca untuk meningkatkan kebutuhan desa. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan bahwa program penggalakkan dan pemanfaatan kembali rumah kaca atau rumah bibit ini sangat bermanfaat untuk meningkatkan produksi baik sayuran berupa cabe, kacang panjang, tomat, terong, pare, kangkung dan budidaya ikan lele dalam meningkatkan perekonomian desa dan mendapatkkan respon positif dari warga.
