Abstract

The purposes of this research were to know: 1) the influence of Problem Based Instruction to the mastery of biology concept; 2) the influence of student’s learning motivation to the mastery of biology concept; 3) the interaction between learning model and learning motivation to the mastery of biology concept; and 4) the influence of better learning strategy to the mastery of biology concept. This research was quasi experiment research using Randomized Control Only design. Learning model and learning motivation were independent variables and mastery of biology concept was the dependent variable. The population of this research was all of  X grade of SMA Batik 1 Surakarta. The samples of this research were the students of class X-5 as the control class and students of class X-4 as the experimental class.  The sample of this research was established by cluster random sampling. The data about the result of study biology collected by use test and observation. Learning motivation meansured by using questionnaires. The analisis of this research was anava two away in different cell and the advance test used Bonfferoni test. The conclusion of this research were: 1) Problem Based Instruction had significant influence to the mastery of biology concept on X grade of SMA Batik 1 Surakarta; 2) Learning motivation had significant influence to the mastery of biology concept on X grade of SMA Batik 1 Surakarta; and 3) There wasn’t interaction between learning model and learning motivation to the mastery of biology concept on X grade of SMA Batik 1 Surakarta. Key Words: the mastery of biology concept, Problem Based Instruction, and learning motivation

Abstract

This study is aimed to improve creative thinking ability of XI IPA4 class of SMA N 3 Surakarta through the implementation of Blended-Problem Solving through moodle application. This research was a classroom action research held in 3 cycles, each cycle includes four stages: planning, action, observation, and reflection. The subject of this research is the students of XI IPA4 class at SMA N 3 Surakarta in academic year of 2012/2013. The data is obtained through the test (essay test) and non-test (observation, interviews and questionnaires). The data is analyzed with descriptive analytical techniques and validated by triangulation techniques. The results showed that students creative thinking ability is increased in Pre-cycle, Cycle I, Cycle II and Cycle III. Creative thinking consist of four aspects are fluency, flexibility, originality and elaboration. Fluency aspect has increased was 52,5%, flexibility aspect was 54,17%, the originality aspect was 61,66% and elaboration aspect was 55,83%. The research conclouded that the implementation of Blended-Problem Solving through moodle application can improve creative thinking ability of XI IPA4 class at SMA N 3 Surakarta in academic year of 2012/2013. Key Words: Blended-Problem Solving, Moodle, Creative Thinking

Abstract

This study is aimed at improving the students’ critical thinking ability and achievement in Biology of VII A class of SMPN 1 Kartasura through the implementation of guided inquiry model assisted by the use of facebook. This research is a classroom action research involving  several cycles in which each cycle includes four stages those are planning, action, observation, and reflection. The subject of this research is the students of VII A class at SMPN 1 Kartasura in academic year of 2012/2013. The data are obtained through the test (essay and multiple-choice) and non-test (observation, interviews and questionnaires). The data are analyzed through descriptive analytical techniques and validated through triangulation techniques.  Critical thinking ability consists of six aspects those are interpretation, analysis, evaluation, inference, explanation, and self-regulation. The average improvement percentage of critical thinking ability test in Pre-cycle, Cycle I, Cycle II, and Cycle III sequently are (41,36%; 52,66%; 65,32%; 77,26%). Students’ achievement is viewed from the increase of student learning completeness consisting of cognitive, psychomotor, and affective. The result of percentage attainment average from cognitive aspects in Pre-cycle, Cycle I, Cycle II, and Cycle III sequently are (36,11%; 47,22%; 72,22%; 100%). Psychomotor students’ achievement consists of three aspects, those are stringing experimental tool, observing the object changes that occur in the experiment, and communicating the results of experiments and worksheets in the presentation. The result of percentage attainment average from psychomotor aspects in Cycle I, Cycle II, and Cycle III sequently are (64,12%; 81,25%; 90,66%). Affective students’ achievement includes three aspect which are being meticulous in observing object from results of the experiment, being discipline in collecting worksheets, and being cooperative in a group discussion. The result of percentage attainment average from affective aspects in Cycle I, Cycle II, and Cycle III sequently are (61,81%; 77,31%; 91,92%). Based on the results of the research it can be concluded that the implementation of guided inquiry model assisted by the use of facebook can improve the students’ critical thinking ability and achievement in Biology of VII A class of SMPN 1 Kartasura.  Key Words: Guided Inquiry, Facebook, Biology Critical Thinking Ability,  Students’ Achievement in Biology

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to know the influence of Project-Based Learning  models by Instagram toward creative thingking of tenth grade students at SMA negeri 8 Surakarta. The research was a quasi experimental research which used posttest only non-equivalent control groups as a research design. The population in the reserach was the students of tenth grade in the second semester of SMA Negeri 8 Surakarta.  The sampling technique used cluster sampling. The collecting data were by test and non test method. The method was essay question of creative thingking and the non test method using observation, and documentation. Hypothesis test were analysed by t-test using SPSS version 16. The research results were received H1 and H0 rejected. It means there was a difference of student creative thingking between control class with conventional models and experiment class using Project-Based Learning models by Instagram. The conclusion of the research was there was the influence of Project-Based Learning models toward increase creative thingking of  tenth grade students at SMA Negeri 8 Surakarta. Keywords: Project Based Learning,Instagram, Creative Thingking

Abstract

The aim of this research is to ascertain the influence of guided inquiry based joyful learning (interjoy) learning models toward science process skills of X grade students at SMA Negeri 2 Surakarta in academic year 2012/2013. This research was quasi experiment research which used posttest only nonequivalent control group design. This research applied guided inquiry based joyful learning (interjoy) learning models in experimental group and direct instruction learning models in control group.  The population of this research was all of X grade students at SMA Negeri 2 Surakarta in academic year 2012/2013.   Sampling techniques used cluster sampling that choosed X.10 as experiment group and X.8 as control group. Data was collected using KPS test, observation sheet, and document.  The hypotheses analyzed by t-test. This research concluded that application of guided inquiry based joyful learning (interjoy) learning models has real influential toward science process skills of X grade students at SMA Negeri 2 Surakarta. Key Words: guided inquiry based joyful learning (interjoy) learning models, science process skills

Abstract

This study was aimed to improve the students’ analytical thinking ability of biology subject in X MIA 6 of SMA  MTA Surakarta academic year 2013/2014 through the implementation of Problem Based Learning.  This research is a class action research which consists of three cycles. Each cycle contains planning, implementing, observing and reflecting. The subject of this research is the students in X MIA 6 of SMA  MTA Surakarta academic year 2013/2014. The data colecting techniques of this research are using observation, interview and documentation. The data validation of this research is using triangulation method. The data result of observation, interview and documentation are analyzed by using qualitative analysis which is done in three components, they are: data reduction, data presentation and drawing the conclusion or verification. The research procedure is using spiral method. The results show that students analytical thinking ability is increased in Pre-cycle, Cycle I, Cycle II and Cycle III. The average of students analytical thinking ability increase from 21,45 % to 47,51%. Identifying elements aspect increase from 22, 42% to 53, 33%. Grouping and describing elements in categories aspect increase from 23, 64% to 46, 67%. Describing process aspect increase from 21, 21% to 46, 06%. Interpreting simple series of data aspect increase from 20% to 49,09%. Expressing information in simple tables or graphs aspects increase from 20% to 42,42%.  This research’s conclusion is the implementation of Problem Based Learning can improve analytical thinking ability of the student in X MIA 6 class at SMA SMA  MTA Surakarta. Key Words: problem based learning, analytical thinking
