Abstract

This study aims to develop recitation-based teaching materials for learning qualitative analysis of cations. The procedure for developing teaching materials adopts the 4-D development model (Define, Design, Develop, Dissemination) from Thiagarajan. The development results were tested theoretically and empirically. The theoretical feasibility test was carried out using expert judgment, including chemist expert, pedagogic expert, and learning media. Empirical feasibility was tested through legibility tests and limited implementation tests. Based on the expert assessment, the recitation method based teaching materials developed in this study is content valid with individual readability of 87,86% and group readability of 89,32%. The results of testing the implementation of teaching materials in the learning process showed that recitation-based teaching materials were effective, in guiding students to do independent learning activities with an effectiveness of 84,16%. The use of Cation Qualitative Analysis teaching materials based on the recitation method in online learning is effective in increasing student understanding of qualitative analysis of cations with an N-gain value of 0,81. The students' ability to complete study assignments with the help of worksheets on teaching materials has a positive correlation, with an increase in concept understanding (r = 0,91) with a contribution value of 88,43%.

Abstract

Penelitian merupakan penelitian deskriptif, dilaksanakan di SMA Negeri 5 Palangka Raya pada 80 siswa di kelas XI IPA-1 SMA Negeri 5 Palangka Raya Tahun ajaran 2018/2019. Data penelitian didapat melalui tes uraian siswa dan wawancara siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa rata-rata kosepsi siswa tertinggi terletak pada konsepsi siswa tantang pengertian senyawa hidrokarbon yaitu sebesar 63,75% dan berada pada kategori tuntas. Konsepsi siswa tentang memberikan nama senyawa hidrokarbon alkana, alkena dan alkuna ialah 34,6% siswa masuk kategori tidak mengerti. Konsepsi siswa tentang membedakan atom C primer, sekunder, tersier dan kuartener ialah 33,125% masuk kategori tuntas dan konsepsi siswa terendah tentang mengelompokan senyawa hidrokarbon berdasarkan kejenuhan ikatan ialah 30% siswa masuk kategori tuntas. Penguasaan konsepsi siswa terbagi kedalam (empat) kategori yaitu tidak mengerti, tuntas sebagian, mendekati tuntas dan tuntas. Banyak siswa menjawab dengan benar pengertian senyawa hidrokarbon dan menjawab dengan benar perbedaan atom C primer, sekunder, tersier dan kuartener. Banyak siswa tidak mampu menjawab dengan benar mengelompokan senyawa hidrokarbon berdasarkan kejenuhan ikatan dan memberikan nama pada senyawa hidrokarbon.

Abstract

Discussion is a learning method using scientific conversation by several people who are joined in a group to exchange opinions about a problem topic, or together looking for enumeration to get answers and the truth of a problem. The purpose of this study is to describe the understanding of the colloidal system concept of learning outcomes using the LKS-assisted discussion method in class XI-IPA 1 Manuhing High School Academic Year 2017/2018. This research is descriptive research. The subjects of this study were students of class XI IPA-2 of SMA Negeri 1 Manuhing, totaling 30 students. The instrument used was in the form of concept comprehension test questions (pretest and posttest) in the form of essays for 3 questions, learning achievement sheet, student activity observation sheet and student response questionnaire. Concept understanding data were obtained from written test results in the form of essays given before and after learning using the LKS-assisted discussion method. The results showed an understanding of students' concepts in class XI IPA of SMA Negeri 1 Manuhing in the academic year 2017/2018 about the colloidal system after learning using discussion methods assisted by LKS with an average of 81.5. Changes in the understanding of students' concepts in each concept after learning using the LKS-assisted discussion method, namely: (1) Explaining the difference in coarse suspension, true solution and colloids by 2.96% to 77.03%; (2) Explain the types of colloids based on dispersed phases and dispersing phases by 4.44% to 69.62%; (3) Explain the properties of colloids (tyndall effect, brown motion) by 25% to 100%.
