Abstract

Green stink bug (Nezara viridula L.) is an important pest in soybean. The use of synthetic chemical control has many negative impacts such as the occurrence of pest resistance, pest resurgence and environmental pollution. Botanical pesticides such as betel nut (Areca catechu L.) is one alternative pest control to reduce the use of synthetic chemical pesticides. The purpose of this study is to obtain appropriate concentrations of betel nut extracts to control green stink bug (N. viridula L.) in soybean crops. This research was conducted in the pest laboratory of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau by using a completely randomized design with 5 treatments and 4 replications. Betel nut extract treatments given was 0 g/l of water, 10 g/l of water, 20 g/l of water, 30 g/l of water, 40 g/l and 50 g/l of water. Concentration of 50 g/l of water caused total mortality 97.5 %. Appropriate concentration to kill 95 % of test insects is 4.64 % equivalent to 46.4 g/l approaches 50 g/l of water. Abstract

Nezara viridula is a pest that can reduce soybean production both in quality and quantity. Currently efforts in controlling N. viridula still use synthetic chemical insecticides that can have negative impacts. One solution to reduce reliance on synthetic chemical insecticide is the use of entomopathogenic fungi Beauveria bassiana. The purpose of this study was to test the ability of several concentrations of entomopathogenic fungi Beauveria bassiana Vuillemin Riau local green ladybugs for pest control N. viridula on soybean plants. Research prepared using completely randomized design (CRD) with 6 treatments and 4 replications. The treatment used is some concentration of B. bassiana consists of 6 treatments are: 0 g/ l of water, the concentration of B. bassiana 70 g / l of aquades, the concentration of B. bassiana 75 g / l of aquades, the concentration of B. bassiana 80 g / l of aquades , the concentration of B. bassiana 85 g / l of aquades, the concentration of B. bassiana 90 g / l of aquades. The results showed concentrations of B. bassiana 90 g / l of aquades is more effective in controlling N. viridula, but to fulfill the concept of integrated pest control concentration of 80 g / l of aquades (17.42 x 107 kon / ml) are considered better because it can lead to early N. viridula death for 64.25 hours, lethal time 50 (LT50) for 135.75 hours, and caused total mortality 85% for 9 days (209 hours). Abstract

Rice is an important crop in Indonesia, because it contains carbohydrates, protein, fat, fiber, vitamins, and trace elements. Pomacea sp. is a major pest of rice crops in Indonesia. Use of plant molluscicides like Tinospora crispa L. is an alternative to reduce the use of synthetic chemical pesticides. This study aimed to obtain the concentration of Tinospora crispa L. capable of controlling the Pomacea sp. in riceplant. This research was conducted at  plant pest laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau and in the experiments farm of the  Faculty of Agriculture University of Riau. This research using a completely randomized design (CRD), which consist of 5 treatments and 4 replications. There are  extracts Tinospora crispa L.  0 g/l of water, 25 g/l of water, 50 g/l of  water, 75 g/l of water, 95 g/l of water. Concentration of Tinospora crispa L. 75 g/l of  water is able to control Pomacea sp. The result indicated that concentration of 75 g/l of water can cause initial time of death is 12 hours after application,   LT50reach  in  28.25 hours and total mortality 86,99%.   Keyword: Oryza sativa L., Pomacea L., Tinospora crispa L.

Abstract

Maruca testulalis Geyer (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae) is a pest long beans pod borer. This study aimed to obtain concentrations of entomopathogenic fungi B. bassiana Vuillemin local which better in control M. testulalis. This research was conducted at the Technical Implementation Unit, Experimental Field, and Plant Pests Laboratory Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau from April to June 2014. This research has been carried out by using a completely randomized design (CRD), with 4 treatments and 5 replications, in order to obtain 20 experimental units. Each experimental unit consisted of 10 M. testulalis larvae instar 4. The treatment tested were concentrations B. bassiana 0 g/l aquades, 10 g/l aquades, 20 g/l aquades, and 30 g/l aquades. Data were analyzed statistically by analysis of variance and further test with 5% level of Duncan's New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT).The results showed entomopathogenic fungi B.bassiana at a concentration of 30 g/l aquades with a density of 51,2 x 104 kon/ml is better at controlling M. testulalis, because the test cause early death of during 49,60 hours, Lethal time 50 during 91,60 hours, and cause total mortality of 86,00% for 5 days (120 hours).   Keyword: Beauveria bassiana Vuillemin, Maruca testulalis Geyer, Biological control
