Abstract

Abstract

Every ethnic group has inherited local cultural wisdom from their predecessors. Similarly, the Sundanese people's riches include a wide range of great ideas, religious systems, and perspectives on life. This local wisdom can be utilized as a reference for the next generation, as it is still relevant to modern millennial life. One is related to the habits, traditions, and religious systems practiced by the Baduy traditional community. This indigenous wisdom is reflected in rituals and traditions that the community still follows and fiercely adheres to. This is inextricably linked to their belief system. Baduy society's beliefs are based on Sundanese Wiwitan teachings. The existence of these teachings is intimately related to the customs. This page also seeks to reveal the calculation and calendar system, which will serve as a reference and guideline for 'kolénjér' and 'literature' calculations. This study employs both descriptive analytical research methodologies and multidisciplinary cultural study methods, such as ethnography, social anthropology, communication, and oral traditions. The findings can disclose practices, traditions, religious systems, calculations, and calendars that have previously been hidden and unknown to individuals outside Baduy and are generally significantly different from other belief systems. The findings of this study can be used as a literacy resource for other scientific domains in a multidisciplinary context.

Abstract

Sundanese manuscripts are still relatively unknown in today's society. Perhaps it is regarded a new science with no benefit to scientific development. In truth, manuscripts and writings as subjects of philological study have been known in Alexandria from the third century BC, according to a character named Erasthothenes. Manuscripts as cultural documents and literary references for other sciences must be made aware of their existence in the current millennium, as many manuscripts' contents remain unknown. One of them is Family Medicinal Plants (TOGA), which is revealed in the manuscript text of the Tatamba mantra and is used by the Baduy indigenous community to boost endurance and immunity. The Tatamba manuscript's significance to Baduy TOGA must be maximized in order to determine the kind, function, dose, processing technique, and therapy actions, as well as the usage of TOGA for health maintenance based on the Tatamba manuscript. Descriptive research, comparative analysis, and text criticism study methodologies, as well as codicology and textology, pharmacology, health communication, and transdisciplinary cultural studies, were investigated. TOGA in the Tatamba mantra manuscript is relevant to the lives of the Baduy indigenous community because it is supported by the ngukus tradition, which is a ngajampé ceremony'reciting mantras' to pray for the safety, health, and welfare of the Baduy indigenous community, which is performed once a year when the ngalaksa tradition is carried out. This topic is relevant not only to philology, but also to other multidisciplinary fields such as agriculture, pharmacy, medicine, cultural communication, anthropology, and public health.

Abstract

Manuscripts, as a legacy and cultural inheritance of predecessors, are vital cultural documents for the advancement of a society's culture. Consequently, manuscripts must not be undervalued. This is comprehensible, as their existence can still be realized in the Generation Z age. The important and interesting manuscripts studied in this article are manuscripts in the Sundanese literature category in the form of Wawacan, which is closely related to pupuh. Wawacan has an influence on the Sundanese literary treasury. The purpose of this study is to explain the definition, position and classification, as well as the requirements and character of pupuh in an effort to support understanding of the ins and outs of WPW. This article's examination of the literary elements aims to offer an overview, context, and elucidation of the Wawacan Panji Wulung text, which was widely esteemed and utilized as an educational reference, culminating in six print editions during its era. This article is part of qualitative research, employing descriptive analysis methodologies through sociological literary approaches, hermeneutics, which are intrinsically linked to philological studies, both codicologically and textologically, as well as cultural studies in general. The study's results demonstrate the interconnection between the requirements and characteristics of the pupuh, together with the complexities of Wawacan Panji Wulung. This page serves as a reference for literacy across several scientific disciplines in a multidisciplinary context.

Abstract

Javanese language lessons have been implemented in schools since elementary school. The decline in the interest and ability of the younger generation in reading Javanese script is a major challenge in preserving the cultural heritage of Indonesian literacy. This study aims to examine the transliteration strategy of the Serat Ngelmu Bumi Asia text as a pedagogical effort to optimize Javanese script reading skills in educational environments. Therefore, a study was conducted on grade X students of SMK Kita Bojonegoro to optimize Javanese script reading skills. The study was conducted using sources from ancient manuscripts and utilizing learning media to achieve optimal results. The method used in this study was a classroom action trial divided into two stages consisting of planning, action, observation/interpretation, and reflection. The results showed a significant increase in student abilities after the implementation of the transliteration strategy using learning media, with an average score increasing from the pre-cycle to the second cycle. Students who initially had difficulty reading Javanese script showed good progress, achieving higher mastery.

Abstract

Since the beginning of civilization, communication has progressed from simple gestures and body language to intricate digital systems. Communication is not merely a means of transmitting information; it is also an essential social process in the production of meaning, cultural identity, and societal evolution. This research seeks to examine the evolution of communication as a driving force in the formation, preservation, and transformation of culture over time. Using a descriptive qualitative method and an in-depth literature review approach, this study integrates perspectives from history, anthropology, sociology, and digital media studies, enriched with archaeological data and analysis of two contemporary regulatory case studies: GDPR in the European Union and misinformation handling in the United States. The findings show that every breakthrough in communication—writing, printing, and digitalization—causes structural changes in society, such as the emergence of imagined communities, the differentiation of intellectual classes, and the formation of a surveillance capitalism culture. In the digital era, this shift accelerates cultural norm changes and fosters the emergence of new symbols in cross-cultural communication, while also posing severe issues such as social fragmentation, access inequality, and a digital ethics crisis. This study underlines the importance of a balanced regulatory strategy, collective ethical awareness, and cross-disciplinary cooperation in managing the effects of communication evolution.
