Abstract

This study aims to determine how perceptions ofentrepreneurs about the business climate in the city of Medan and whatis the most dominant factor as a determinant of the business climate inthe city of Medan. This research uses primary data and secondary datacollection methods of data observation, literature review, and aquestionnaire addressed to 100 employers as respondents wererandomly selected (random sampling). The analysis technique used inthis study is a descriptive analysis, which is supported by qualitativedata quantitative data processing. The results of the analysis indicatethat the perception of the entrepreneur, the business climate in the cityof Medan conducive. It is seen from the influence of government policy,political and social stability, bureaucracy and infrastructure. And fromthe research result shows that the political and social stability isconsidered the most dominant factor as a determinant of businessclimate, followed by bureaucracy and infrastructure and governmentpolicy.Keywords : Business Climate, Government Policy, Politics and SocialStability, Infrastructure, Bureaucracy

Abstract

The aim of this research is to measure efficiency between foreign banks and private national banks in Indonesia during the period 2008-2012. The data which is used is a secondary data, collected from financial statements issued by Bank Indonesia.The sampling technique is used in this research is purposive sampling with taking foreign 2 samples of foreign and 2 samples of private national banks. Efficiency measurements in this research using the method of Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) with the intermediation approach. Input variables used in the study are deposits, assets, and labor costs, while the output variables are loans or finance and revenue.The results of this research showed that the bank reached a level of efficiency of 100 percent during the period 2008-2012 are Citibank,NA, and Bank Danamon with the average achievement level of efficiency between foreign banks and private national banks was 92.4% and 98%.Keywords: Efficiency, Foreign Banks and Private NationalBanks, Data Envelopment Analysis

Abstract

This study aims to know whether there are a significant relationship between economic growth and export in eight ASEAN Plus three’s countries. The test are carried out using Unit Root Test, Johansen Cointegration test, Vector Auto Regretion Model (VAR), Vector Error Correction Model (VECM), and Granger Causality test for the periode 1980-2012. The result of cointegration test revealed that there are a long run relationship between economic growth and export in Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Philipine, China, Japan, and South Korea, but long run relationship doesn’t occur in Singapore. Based on the result of Granger Causality test, it was found that export led growth hypothesis occur in Thailand and Philipine, while growth driven export hypothesis was occur in Indonesia, Cina, and South Korea. Bidirectional relationship was occur in Singapura, but the relationship between economic growth and export didn’t occur in Malaysia and PhilipineKey words: Economi growth, Export, Vector Auto Regretion Model (VAR), Vector Error Correction Model (VECM), and Granger Causality

Abstract

This study aims to assess the internal factors and external factors determine the development of the informal sector and development strategy informal sector in Medan. This study uses primary data collected directly from the informal sector workers in Medan and analyzed using quantitative SWOT analysis. Internal factors that influence the development of the informal sector in the city of Medan is: Expertise (HR), Working Capital, Labor, Technology, Availability of Raw Materials, Raw Materials Price, Facilities and Infrastructure, Work Experience, and Promotion. As for the external factors that influence the development of the informal sector in the city of Medan is: Rental Costs, Training, Opportunity, soft Lending, Loans, Partnership, Competition, Economic Conditions are not stable, Law, Policy Development, and the existence of the Formal Sector. Based on the SWOT analysis of the informal sector, development strategy in Medan is developing the informal sector by providing loans to actors in the informal sector activities, provide additional capital to develop the informal sector, providing raw materials through the existence of a partnership.Keyword: Informal Sector, Strategy Development, SWOT, Internal Factors, External Factors

Abstract

Cooperative development is appropriate to the development of social. Cooperative identical with democratic economic systemis believed tobe an alternativeto solve socio economic problems in Indonesia. However, to date the cooperative movement in Indonesia is still more dominantas compared moral movement as the economic movement in concrete can improve the economic welfare of its members. Institutionally, the cooperative is more self effacing as a social vehicle when it should be the role of cooperatives is not just limited to social roles, but also roles in the economy. Cooperatives should be able to provide areal contribution to the economic empowerment of the people. Otherwise, the cooperative is expected to be a corner stone of the economy will collapse, driven by other economic act or sareprivate and state owned enterprises. Abstract

he aim of the study is to analyze the relationship between the variables FDI and economic growth in ASEAN member countries, especially Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore and Thailand. Data used in this study is the time series of the year 1981-2012 were obtained from the quantitative world bank’s official website. Method of testing is done using Unit Root Test, Johansen Cointegration Test, VAR, VECM, and Granger Causality. Result of the study concluded that there is a long-term relationship between FDI and economic growth in Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, and Singapore. There is a one-way relationship between the variables FDI and economic growth in Indonesia and Singapore. Economic growth affects FDI in Indonesia, otherwise FDI affects economic growth in Singapore. While in Malaysia, Philippines, and Thailand there is no causality between FDI and growth.Keywords : Unit Root Test, Johansen Cointegration Test, VAR, VECM, and Granger Causality.

Abstract

This research has a purpose to analyze causality relationship between BI Rate and money supply (M1) in Indonesian. This research used time series data is monthly data period 2010-2012. The method of this research is method Cointegration test, Granger Causality test, and VAR. The results of analysis Cointegration test with VAR model, which means not a proper balance in the long run between BI Rate and M1. Granger Causality test analysis results, indicates that there is a bilateral causality relationship, are the BI Rate affect M1, and M1 affect BI Rate too.Keywords : BI Rate, Money Supply (M1), Cointegration test, VAR, and Granger Causality test

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to know term relation of human developmentindex (HDI) and economic growth regency/city in north of sumatera provinceduring the period 2004-2012.This research uses panel data, with method klassen typology to see benefitof regional, and cointegration test for to see long term relationship beetwen Humandevelopment index and growth of economic by using eviews programe 6.The result showed that by using klassen typology is 1 regency and 4 city forcategory quadrant I. meanwhile 8 regency and 1 city in quadrant II. And then 4regency and 2 city category in quadrant III. And also 12 regency and 1 citycategory in quadrant 4. From result of cointegration test showed a long termequilibrium relationship beetween Human development index and economic growth.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi dan menjadi penentu daya saing ekonomi Kota Tanjungbalai pada tahun 2014 dengan menggunakan metode Analisis Hierarki Proses (AHP). Dengan menggunakan metode purposive sampling, penelitian ini menggunakan data primer dengan kuisioner dan wawancara terhadap 30 responden yang terdiri dari mahasiswa, pengajar, tokoh masyarakat, birokrasi, perbankan, non perbankan, dan pengusaha.Hasil dari penelitian ini yaitu faktor infrastruktur menjadi faktor yang paling penting dalam meningkatkan daya saing ekonomi Kota Tanjungbalai dengan bobot sebesar 0,293, diikuti dengan faktor tenaga kerja dan produktivitas dengan bobot sebesar 0,258, kemudian faktor perekonomian daerah (0,257), faktor kelembagaan (0,113), dan yang terakhir faktor sosial politik sebesar 0,080.Kata Kunci : Daya Saing Ekonomi, Analisis Hierarki Proses

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the factors that affect and be decisive economic competitiveness Simalungun in 2015 by using the method of Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP). By using purposive sampling method, this study uses primary data with questionnaires and interviews with 30 respondents consisting of students, teachers, civils, bureaucracy, banking, non-banking, and entrepreneurs.Results from this research that the infrastructure factor becomes the most important factor in improving economic competitiveness Simalungun regency with a weight of 0,392, followed by the regional economy factors (0,221), then a factor of labor and productivity (0,199), socio political factor (0,098), and the final is institutional factors (0,090).Keywords: Economic Competitiveness, Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP)
