Abstract

The objective of this research was to determine the effectiveness of Myopopone castaneaeto consumption larvae of Oryctes rhinoceros in the laboratory. This research was conducted fromDecember 2013 to February 2014 with altitude ± 25 above sea level in the Laboratory of Plant Pest,Faculty of Agriculture, University of Sumatra Utara. This research used randomizedcompletely design with 2 factors and 3 replications. The first factor was number of My. castaneae(0, 15, 20, and 25) and the second factor was larva’s instar (1, 2, and 3). The result showed that thehighest percentage of larva mortality was applicated by 25 of My. castaneae to larvae instar 1 ofO. rhinoceros (100%) in 3 days and the lowest was applicated by 15 of My. castaneae to larva’sinstar 3 of O. rhinoceros (20%). The highest consumption ability of My. castaneae is treatment usedlarva's instar 1 (applicated by 25, 20, and 15 of My. castaneae) that can consumpt 4-5 larva'sinstar 1 in five days, and the lowest is with using larva's instar 3 (applicated by 15, 20, and 25 ofMy. castaneae) that only can consumpt 1-2 larva's instar 3 of O. rhinoceros. Keywords: predation capacity, Myopopone castaneae, Oryctes rhinoceros L.

Abstract

The objective of this research was to study the effectifity of suspension Baculovirus oryctes andMetarhizium anisopliae (Metch.) Sorokin to control Brontispa longissima Gestro.(Coleoptera : Chrysomelidae). The research was held at the laboratory of plant pest,Agroecotechnology Program Study, Agricultural Faculty, University of Sumatra Utara, Medan onApril to Mei 2014. This methode used Randomized Complete Design (RAL) of non Factorial thatconsist of 7 treatments and 4 replications. The research treatments were: 1. T0 : control(500 mL aquadest) 2. T1 : 40 ml B. oryctes / 500 mL aquadest 3. T2 : 50 ml B. oryctes / 500 mLaquadest 4. T3 : 60 mL B. oryctes / 500 mL aquadest 5. T4 : 40 gr M. anisopliae /500 mLaquadest 6. T5: 50 gr M. anisopliae / 500 mL aquadest 7. T6 : 60 gr M. anisopliae / 500 mLaquadest. The results showed that the highest percentage of mortality on T6(60 gr M. anisopliae / 500 mL aquadest) was about 95.00% and the lowest on T1(40 ml B. oryctes / 500 mL aquadest) was about 60.00%.Keywords : Effectifity, Baculovirus oryctes, Metarhizium anisopliae, Brontispa longissima

Abstract

The objective of this research was to study the effect of some pupae size of sugarcane stem boreron the Tetrastichus sp. population in laboratory. Complete randomized complete design with twofactors, i.e Tetrastichus sp. population ( 4, 5, and 6 pair ), and PBR, PBB, and PBK pupae size(pupae size of PBR : 2-2.9 cm, 3-3.4 cm and ≥ 3.5 cm, pupae size of PBB : 0.5-0.9 cm, 1-1.4 cmand ≥ 1.5 cm, pupae size of PBK : 0.5-0.9 cm, 1-1.4 cm and ≥ 1.5 cm) and three replications wasused to conducting this research at Laboratory of Sugarcane Research and Development SeiSemayang, Binjai, Medan, North of Sumatera from February until July 2013. The results showedthat pupae size of PBR, PBB and PBK significantly affected the number of emerging parasitoidadult and sex ratio. The highest number of parasitoid adult (19.84 adult) was founded at pupae sizeof PBR ≥ 3.5 cm treatment, meanwhile the lowest (0.94 adult) was founded at pupae size of PBK0.5-0.9 cm treatment. Sex ratio of male and female was 1 : 3.08.Keywords : Parasitoid, Sugarcane stem borer, Tetrastichus sp.

Abstract

The aim of the research was to determine the effect of glyphosate herbicide application on the percentage of live and survive parasitoid age in laboratory and the best time for the introduction of parasitoids to the field after application of parasitoids. The research was held at Laboratory of Sugarcane Research and Developmnet Sei Semayang, Binjai, Medan, North Sumatera from Juny to August 2014. The method used Non-factorial Randomized Complete Design which is application time factor glyphosate herbicide control, 3, 5,7,and 9 days after application respectively. The results showed that giving of herbicides significantly affect mortality Sturmiopsis inferens and Trichogramma spp. Giving herbicides also significantly affected age survive Cotesia flavipes, S. inferens. and Trichogramma spp. Keywords : parasitoid, Cotesia flavipes, Sturmiopsis. inferens, Trichogramma spp., glyphosate herbicide

Abstract

This research was to study response of  the effectiveness fungicides with different concentrations on the leaf spot disease(Curvularia sp.)in vitro. This research was conducted at Center of Oil Palm Research, Marihat, Pematang Siantar. The method used factorial completely randomized design with three factors and three replications. The first factor was kind of fungisida active ingredients (mancozeb, metalaxcyl, benomyl, buirimat, and tebuconazole), the second factor was water solvent (normal water, shallow peat water (50 cm – 100 cm), medium peat water (101 cm – 200 cm) and depth peat water (201 cm -300 cm)) and third factor was concentrationsof  fungicide(1 ml/l (g/l), 2ml/l (g/l) and 3ml/l (g/l) . The results showed Tebukonazol fungicide active ingredient was able to inhibit the groth of leaf spot leaf disease (Curvularia sp.) and the most effective concentration is 2 ml/l using the medium peat water solvent
